People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

already fallen out over previous shit so did not expect this xx

That makes it even worse. If you were really close and used to using each others stuff it would be more understandable but to assume you can just rock up with others and park when there are already issues between you is double rude.

WickedSerious · 19/08/2023 18:22

I'm going to enjoy a Prosecco or five while the OP waits.

SmudgeButt · 19/08/2023 18:23

Oh and just noticed.... She did say they'd be back by 6 didn't she?

Village fete! I'm sure they'll be fireworks!!!!!

@LakieLady it was SO good! I vaguely remember the cheeky sod sent his girlfriend to knock on as well, I think.

You're right, he did, but it was like 3 days later or something.

And wasn't he someone who'd been a footballer, or was that just part of the backstory we invented for him?

Beckafett · 19/08/2023 18:23

Deffo not a friend as you say, think I’d have lost my car keys after blocking them in until at least this time next week 😂

Yfory · 19/08/2023 18:24

YADNBU. Cheeky mares all of them.
Good on you for having some wine and ignoring the door. Hopefully they will have learnt not to be such CF in future.

He was partying with the local celeb footballer, and was bragging to OP’s brother….
I lived that thread and was far too invested in it…😂

MidlandCatGirl · 19/08/2023 18:26

yfory in my experience people that are CF’s are totally oblivious that they are the CF and furiously insist the other person is the bad guy.

MillWood85 · 19/08/2023 18:31

We live in a small village that gets over run with idiots parking once a year for the fete. We got so fed up last year with it that we put cones and a massive sign up saying private road, no public parking. A farmer generously gives the event organisers a massive field to use, they use proper plastic parking mesh too. But they charge £5, hence the CF'ers just dumping cars wherever.

I feel your pain, OP.

Batalax · 19/08/2023 18:32

Your children or the friends? Who are the girls?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 19/08/2023 18:32

The nerve. I hope you thwart them until Monday.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/08/2023 18:32

Shamelessly posting for the update ...

Nortam · 19/08/2023 18:38

Good for you op. I hope it teaches them a lesson.

Silvers11 · 19/08/2023 18:39

I too am here for the update. I really hope the OP or her DH don't cave. A couple of glasses of wine and they won't be able to drive legally for at least 4 hours!! 😂😃😁

crosstheriver · 19/08/2023 18:40

I feel like an actual friend would have asked, and not been upset with you if you'd said no.

ihadamarveloustime · 19/08/2023 18:41

She's a CF and has dumped her friends in it with her. I wouldn't be moving my cars this evening.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/08/2023 18:42

Ooh what a cheek!

ilovelamp82 · 19/08/2023 18:42

The fact that she's still not back despite the fact that she said 6pm?? Entitled af

goingslightlyinsane · 19/08/2023 18:44

Exactly. What a joker. She's 44 minutes late for her own cheekiness

SauvignonBlanche · 19/08/2023 18:45

You need at least a couple of glasses after missing the fete by having to work today 😆

Sausagedogmum · 19/08/2023 18:45

I would have been tempted to go away for the weekend but leave my car blocking them in and not get back until Monday morning.

FionnulaTheCooler · 19/08/2023 18:45

Enjoy your wine and stay strong on ignoring the door, OP. Hope the CF is livid when she realises her behaviour has backfired and might actually inconvenience herself instead of someone else.

goingslightlyinsane · 19/08/2023 18:47

I would be tempted to send a message tomorrow morning saying;

"Really sorry but we have had a last minute opportunity to go international inter railing. Sorry about your friends cars being stuck. See you when we get back 👋🏼"

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 16:49

@PJ04JCW we could go out but been at work so just want to eat at home will try and do a diagram

Where’s the diagram?! Come on, OP!!

'playing Buckaroo with Bruce Grobbelaar' was the phrase used in response IIRC.😂

I learned to make Yorkshire puddings from that thread.
