People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

Tell your CF friend and her friends to get their arses back and move their cars.
You did not give them permission to use your drive and why should you be inconvenienced for them?

Dear friend you didn’t ask to park on my drive - this was rude and disrespectful and not what friends do - never mind other people - when asked to move to have not responded with an apology(!) but in fact blamed me for being angry that my drive has been used as a car park with no permission - you will shortly be blocked in as after a hard days work DH and I want a drink when he gets back.

2catsandhappy · 19/08/2023 17:44

Do what @itsgettingweird suggests! It is illegal to drink and drive...
They can pick up their cars tomorrow.

goingslightlyinsane · 19/08/2023 17:47

I would definitely send her a message now saying,

"really sorry but we are out for the night now and not going to be contactable. At least there is one car you can all use. It's a shame you didn't check with me first as I could have told you I would have to block you in and you could have made other arrangements. Hope your having a lovely day out. Catch up tomorrow 😀"

CommonVetch · 19/08/2023 17:48

Yanbu in any sense whatsoever. Shocking cheek.

Jessbow · 19/08/2023 17:48

Block them in and ''go to the fete' get food and drink and stay & listen to the evening music/fireworks/drinks at the pub with the friends you bumped into''

In reality close the curtains and run that bath and actually dont go anywhere!!

goingslightlyinsane · 19/08/2023 17:48

And then turn your phone off, shut your curtains and forget about it.

GameOverBoys · 19/08/2023 17:50

absolute cheeky fuckery
do you not give any move your car, whatever you do.

C152 · 19/08/2023 17:51

I think you're being very restrained simply blocking them in. I would have called a tow truck company and had them towed away.

sodthesodoff · 19/08/2023 17:52

Oh I would leave a note saying parking fee for £2,000 (or whatever your friends rates were) payable c/o friend leave it like that

Definitely wouldn't be answering the door tonight. And possibly finding friendly neighbours who need somewhere to park on Sunday...

Barneysma2 · 19/08/2023 17:54

We need running commentary and preferably pictures of them returning to their cars in due course 😂

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 19/08/2023 17:54

Go to the pub for dinner and drinks ..I would ! They would have to wait for me .so rude of them.

Couldyounot · 19/08/2023 17:56

Monumentally fucking cheeky

Shurleyknot · 19/08/2023 17:58

itsgettingweird · 19/08/2023 17:29

When they come back refuse to answer door and send a text "sorry. Can't move the car as I'm having food and drink and you're ruining it for me. Come back tomorrow 🍺"

Grin

This but close the curtains and make it look like you have gone out to dinner. Fucking cheek of them honestly.

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 18:01

Iwantcakeeveryday · 19/08/2023 18:01

Its so rude, who the hell do they think they are? As others have said, you asked them to move so just close the curtains, lock the door and forget about them.

Zanatdy · 19/08/2023 18:02

Wow how flipping rude of her

ifIwerenotanandroid · 19/08/2023 18:03

Silently cheering you on, OP (& your DH for blocking).

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 19/08/2023 18:04

Turn your phone off too !

TrixieFatell · 19/08/2023 18:04

Totally here for the updates

Cupcakekiller · 19/08/2023 18:05

Good on you OP. Can't imagine ever doing this!

lemonyfox · 19/08/2023 18:05

Please keep them blocked in! I love threads like this but I'm always so disappointed when the OP ends up backing down. Does anyone remember that lovely 3 or 4 part thread with the cheeky people who parked on her drive/entry, she stayed strong for days and she had her brother or something answer the door for her? That was great.

GrandHighPoohbah · 19/08/2023 18:06

It's cheeky to park on your drive but downright rude and entitled not to come and move their cars the moment you let them know you were back.

Blackberriesbob · 19/08/2023 18:07

If a friend did this to me she'd be my ex friend.

littlefireseverywhere · 19/08/2023 18:08

So rude! Yes, I wouldn’t hear doorbell / knocking this evening either.

ConcernedCatmother · 19/08/2023 18:10

Go on OP! Can we have a pic? Please 📷
