People Using my drive

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 16:34

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

Oh well done! I hope the taxis were expensive for them. And the fucking nerve of them turning up pissed, with kids in tow, wanting to drive home! And to call you childish, the selfish, arrogant bastards!

Shame your husband didn't hurry out to block them in with his car, when you went to work - I bloody would have done.

LlynTegid · 20/08/2023 21:18

I think you were kinder than I would have been. I'd be alleging child neglect to social services about someone wanting to drink and drive with a child in the car.

viques · 20/08/2023 21:36

Well done you. Let’s hope they remember next year ( of course they will!!) and park more sensibly. 😄

GeeEss · 20/08/2023 21:39

I’d be incandescent- cheeky cow!

OhChacha · 20/08/2023 22:03

Some people are inconsiderate. I can never park outside my house as b@stards next door and other neighbours park on front of mine when there's other spaces but it involves a few more metres to walk god help them. People don't give a shit about anyone else. They do what suits them an park where they like

Sasha19052 · 20/08/2023 21:15

@NatM70 and @Fitrix29 - why give advice when it has been sorted?

If you look at "see all" under the first post, guess what happens? You see ALL of the OP's posts! Exciting times!

So I'm late, shoot me 🙄
God some people have nothing better to do.

Missingpop · 20/08/2023 22:23

They didn’t ask for your permission so it’s trespassing surely so yes block the fucking cheeky shits in I hope you closed the curtain; disconnected the doorbell; put the phones on silent & enjoyed your evening 😂

ThePoshUns · 20/08/2023 22:42

Well done OP. Hope you're ok, never nice to fall out with friends even when you're in the right.

ScotsGirl48 · 20/08/2023 22:45

when they come knocking on your door asking for you to move your cars so they can get out say sorry hubs & I have had a few glasses of wine with dinner so can’t touch the cars till tomorrow sorry, then close the door if they keep knocking just open it again & say do you mind your being very unreasonable & ruining the mood toodles 😂😂😂

CountessWindyBottom · 20/08/2023 23:02

Bravo @quicklybeendrivenmad, brilliantly handled! I love seeing CFs get their comeuppance 👏

Lindyloo23 · 20/08/2023 23:22

Well done for standing your ground and teaching her a lesson! We all know one like that - entitled!!! So ignorant. Think the world revolves around them.
You asked them to move their cars earlier and they ignored that accusing you of ruining their time. So stuff her. Not a true friend and no manners. it would have taken nothing to ask you if it was ok first.
You are better off not having ‘friends’ like that.
She sounds very narcissistic!!!

Newestname002 · 20/08/2023 23:31

@quicklybeendrivenmad

all went quiet until I got a rant text message off her at 2.30am saying I have made her look bad and made a fool off her,

She did that herself really and showed herself up as a mega CF as well! Great response from you to them about drinking/driving/children in cars - that shut them up for a while.

Hope your legal friend is going to send her a legal demand letter (which she should charge for...) to get payment for the work she did for your now ex-friend. 🌹

rachellovesdouglas · 20/08/2023 23:56

Block them and when they turn up to get cars say you have been drinking and it would be illegal to move your cars, as they are not insured they cant move them for you. Tell them to come back on the morning and at that point you tell them you went on an all night bender and to come back later once you have had a sleep and sobered up. Then of course when you wake up you need hair of the dog and so on. Until you get bored of the game.

sleepwouldbenice · 21/08/2023 00:02

Have u sent her a link to this thread yet??

Fraaahnces · 21/08/2023 00:05

Looks like the silly twit made herself look bad all on her own. Stupid woman might respect your boundaries next time.

Andthereyougo · 21/08/2023 00:22

Think that’s a friend you’re well rid of. The entitlement of some people beggars belief.

@LovedFedAndNoonesDead here is the dog groomer thread.

Thank you soo much!! 1st one not loading (getting an ‘error 404’ message) but others seem to have so I’ll wait a bit and try again!

You're welcome

WanderinStar · 21/08/2023 07:14

I think it's all a bit mean. It's once a year. A village fete. Parking probably impossible.

AlanGrantsNeckerchief · 21/08/2023 07:15

if parking is impossible you get a taxi. you don’t park on someone else’s drive who will need it because of the “impossible” parking due to people attending the fete!! 🙄

Can't believe this ran another 13 pages after op apparently "couldn't upload a pic" 😂

There's nothing that mumsnet loves more than a cheeky fucker parking thread.

Except that it's @quicklybeendrivenmad drive that she needs to use herself and they didn't have permission
Are you the friend @WanderinStar ?

Hiddenvoice · 21/08/2023 08:01

Your ‘friend’ sounds awful. All it would have taken is a quick message to ask if she could use your driveway. It would have taken less than 2 mins but she couldn’t be bothered. I fully understand you blocking them in, they were incredibly rude. If I thought it was okay to park somewhere and then was told it wasn’t, I’d have quickly gone and moved my car, I wouldn’t have said it will be moved after I have my dinner and drinks.

You’re well rid of this ‘friend’!
