People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

Simple answer block them in have your wine answer door with glass in hand.

Slur your voice sorry I have been drinking my golden rule is I don’t touch car after drinking I go to work tomorrow at 7am. If they offer to move car nope that would be illegal as your not on insurance.

Excellent! I'm upgrading my rating to a solid 10/10
Well done for standing your ground 👏

Good for her a nightmare. I would never dream of parking in someone’s driveway without asking.

I would be damed sure to make sure I was clear of drive before they needed it or park in such a way no one was blocked in leaving space for actual owners.

Inkpotlover · 20/08/2023 19:14

It was worth the wait for that update, OP! You handled it like a boss.

topchef · 20/08/2023 19:15

That was my absolute favourite too.

NoDought · 20/08/2023 19:18

Your friend is not a friend and this is utterly disrespectful. Block in and turn phone off and disconnect doorbell. This is entitlement at its highest level.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 20/08/2023 19:21

Thanks for the update OP, my god what an absolute cheek they have! I can never quite believe how entitled people are. How do they think this is at all reasonable? You really did well, so many people would have caved and thats why people like this keep doing it. Some people just go round thinking everyone owes them something.

2catsandhappy · 20/08/2023 19:27

I am smiling because at some point Daily Mail or maybe Metro will pick up this story. Then CF and her friends will read about their shoddy behaviour. They can all stay up until 2.30am again messaging each other.

CurlyTop1980 · 20/08/2023 19:33

Well done! You have made us all proud!!

Gothambutnotahamster · 20/08/2023 19:41

Well done Op!

Gingefringe · 20/08/2023 19:44

Great result OP. They should have just shared one car and asked for your prior permission.

Beeswood · 20/08/2023 19:56

Well done! 👏

chaosmaker · 20/08/2023 20:01

@quicklybeendrivenmad the cheek of some people! Can't believe she then sent a text at 2.30am... Glad you stood your ground and your drive will hopefully stay free of them next year :)

Cestfoutu · 20/08/2023 20:04

Made the Daily Mirror!

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 20/08/2023 20:09

This thread could become the new "cancel the cheque" with people still advising op to not open the door and turn her phone off.😂

Terminator66 · 20/08/2023 20:19

Someone parked on my drive over 20 years ago so I blocked them in with my car and went out for the night, I wasn't planning on going out but I did so that there would be no answer if they knocked on the door.
I returned home at 02:20 to find a letter posted asking me to move my vehicle so they could get their vehicle out and a mobile number too ring, I didn't ring it but moved my vehicle two days later to go shopping the vehicle was gone when I got back. No one tried to park on my driveway again.

Totally sorry am guilty of being the person who does not posts updates (and I hate that) girls got in with pizza had a fab day, I cooked food and we located to the back room to watch tv, constant knocking at the door about an hour later finally answered it, my ex friend telling me I was childish and tbf my reply was not very adult told her they had one car free and use that slammed door. Next thing we have husband of one of her friends banging door down demanding we let his wife's car out, asked how we would do that, cos we have both had a drink, he would move it no way am I letting some randon bloke move my car, argument got quite colurful and I pointed out would ring the police cos looking at my ex friend and state of her mates would not be letting them drive especially with a children on board, all went quiet until I got a rant text message off her at 2.30am saying I have made her look bad and made a fool off her, so have had very little sleep told her to do one, been working again today just got in and my drive is clear xx

Absolutely love this. What an entitled bunch of CF’s. How dare they. I hope you’ve seen the lady of her and her freeloading friends.

Made the Daily Mirror!

They didn’t wait long enough to see the update though. Poor journalism!

BasilParsley · 20/08/2023 20:50

Excellent response re the drinking ... go You!

Yes OP, get in your time machine and do this yesterday!

NatM70 · 20/08/2023 21:05

She sounds an absolute delight 🙄
And she's not your friend.
Block them in and ignore any calls and the door, and let them wait like they're making you.
People never cease to amaze (infuriate) me.

Fitrix29 · 20/08/2023 21:08

I’d be telling her “I’ve had a long day. I’m parking in MY drive, as is DH. We’re going to be having a drink with dinner so won’t be moving our cars in the morning as I refuse to drink drive. If you or the other mums want to be able to get your cars out before the morning then you’ve got till my dinners ready to come and move them, if not they’ll be stuck there.”

PeachyPeachTrees · 20/08/2023 21:10

Well done for teaching them a lesson. They won't do that again.

Sasha19052 · 20/08/2023 21:15

@NatM70 and @Fitrix29 - why give advice when it has been sorted?

If you look at "see all" under the first post, guess what happens? You see ALL of the OP's posts! Exciting times!
