How much domino's pizza can you eat?

We are just about to do an order and it's dawned on me it's costing nearly £50.00 😨

Me and my Husband can pretty much eat a large pizza each. We have three children so we are ordering three large and one medium, totalling a whopping £48.98. Surely this is ridiculous for four pizzas. ?! This includes the 50% off too 🙈

I can understand ordering Chinese, Indian, Thai as you actually have to cook those but how easy is it to cover a base in sauce and add cheese etc then slam it in the oven, 20 mins start to finish. You could have made and eaten your pizza before Domino's deliver.

I did a McDonalds order for the kids having sleepover with friends and it cost me £40 for 4 of them. And they ate all of it.

I think I'm stuck in the 80s because it never stops shocking me when I see how much they want for fast food now

It definitely feels like its gone up a lot more recently. I remember when Mcds was a cheap takeaway, hasnt been for a while now as that can cost as much as a chinese takeaway these days. Some of the meals can get to £10 if you want a milkshake.

It doesn't taste the same though.

It's like that old Eddie Murphy sketch from the 80s where he jokes about kids wanting a McDonalds and his mum making him a burger at home - but it's nothing like McDonalds.

I love home made pizza and it's one of our regular go-to quick meals for the kids (although I'm lazy and don't actually make the dough myself usually).

But occasionally I really fancy a Pizza Hut or Dominos because I want the specific pizza from there. Home made pizza not even remotely the same, unfortunately.

This. And all I can see after this comment is the inevitable ‘oh my god I could eat one slice then never eat until the end of the century’ 🤣

CheezePleeze · 15/08/2023 21:52

Apparently food shaming is hilarious as long as it's done to those with smaller appetites.

fullbloom87 · 15/08/2023 22:09

We usually have 4-5 slices each and a side like chicken wings or kickers. We have loads of garlic and herb dip too.

BrightGreenMoonBuggy · 15/08/2023 22:12

Takeaway pizza is now an insane price. I also get a large one, but I do leave the crusts.

isitshe · 15/08/2023 22:26

CurlewKate · 15/08/2023 19:02

@isitshe Absolutely! I was really talking to the 50 quid for a takeaway. But one day have a go at making your favourite one. It won't be much cheaper, particularly the first time-but soooooo much nicer!

I'll never be capable of replicating or bettering this thing of beauty (2 for £8 in NI).

This thread is hilarious. None of the undereaters have shown up thus far, but we have something else. We have…

Competitive OVEReaters!

One can eat a whole large plus breadsticks. One can eat a large plus multiple sides AND dessert. One can eat TWO larges and a side! And anyone that eats less has “issues with food.”

Eagerly awaiting the poster that can eat THREE large pizzas AND a whole Mumsnet chicken. 😂

Pffft. No one could possibly eat a whole MN chicken. It feeds a family of eight for at least a week.

Panda89 · 15/08/2023 23:31

I consider myself quite a big eater! But I would usually order a medium and some dough balls, then eat 5 slices and half the dough balls and save the rest for lunch the next day.

EweGotToGrooveIt · 16/08/2023 12:46

I think often it's hard to compare amounts across people because people will all be eating pizza in different scenarios.

I can defo eat a large Dominoes. Can. Not always will. If I haven't eaten at all that day (often happens with work), for example. And I don't bother with sides or dessert etc (which I sometimes do). And I am not drinking (drink fills me up so I eat less). Yes, easily put away a large.

For me, it doesn't really matter what calories it is etc because I live somewhere they are not - so I eat a Dominoes about once every other year and often with friends while away etc. Which makes it more of a celebration food, for me. I don't suppose a 3000kcal meal every other year is going to change my average much.

If I was ordering them once a month for 'normal days tea' on a day when I'd eaten a normal lunch? I'd probably be on here saying I couldn't possibly manage a large pizza all to myself Grin

ClaraMarmalade · 16/08/2023 12:48

I find pizza incredibly filling so usually 2-3 slices, and then prefer the leftovers cold the next morning.

LisaD1 · 16/08/2023 13:27

No way I could eat a whole large one (and I’m fat!)

we get an XL between us from local pizza place, it’s 10.99 and more than enough for us 2 adults and 1 teenager

VeridicalVagabond · 15/08/2023 15:55

Jesus a large each? I'm by no means a competitive under eater or anything like that, I'm not going to say a nibble of a crust would sustain me for a month, but I can't even finish a medium from Dominos, they're so hench and dense. I'm impressed by your pizza eating abilities.

Husband and I would normally get a medium each, he can finish it, I'll usually have two or three slices leftover. 15yo DD can finish a medium to herself too and usually wants wedges as well. They're so bloody expensive though.

This is what we do. Also not a MN massive salad eater, but we get a medium thin crust each and some chicken strips to share between the two of us. We usually just eat half the medium (sometimes a slice more) and save the rest for the following day. Would quite happily eat the whole medium pizza but am conscious it's something like a day's worth of calories so generally don't.
