How much domino's pizza can you eat?

TulipVictory · 15/08/2023 15:48

We are just about to do an order and it's dawned on me it's costing nearly £50.00 😨

Me and my Husband can pretty much eat a large pizza each. We have three children so we are ordering three large and one medium, totalling a whopping £48.98. Surely this is ridiculous for four pizzas. ?! This includes the 50% off too 🙈

I’ve never actually had dolminos so I can’t judge but even though all of the pizza places I’ve tired are really nice, I don’t think they’re that much nicer than a frozen one.

CurlewKate · 15/08/2023 17:08

I couldn't bring myself to buy a pizza. They are so RIDICULOUSLY cheap and easy to make!

FlissyPaps · 15/08/2023 17:09

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 15/08/2023 15:52

I couldn't eat a whole large pizza in one go.

We'd order a large pizza each and it would probably do 2-3 meals.

Give over 😂

A whole pizza? Goodness, if I ate one slice on a Monday, I wouldn't need to eat again until Thursday. Are you terribly greedy OP?

(JK, JK, I could smash away a whole pizza, but let's brace for inevitable).

GoodChat · 15/08/2023 17:10

Why are people quoting calories when they talk about pizza size?

I don't care what calories are in it. I care whether it'll fill me up Grin

Cardboardcup · 15/08/2023 17:10

Depends on how hungry I am and whether it’s thin crust or deep pan. Deep pan I could eat half a large, thin crust I can eat a whole large .

This. Plus a homemade pizza on a homemade crust tastes so much better. Pizza dough takes 5 minutes to make, let it rest in fridge overnight or up to three days. Stretches like a dream, marinara, cheese, toppings, oven 400-425 ten minutes. I make pizza every week. Simplest meal there is. I don’t like greasy commercial pizzas, there’re never as good. The homemade crust is delicious.

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 15/08/2023 17:13

Does anyone else call it a “greasy wheel”?

sums it up perfectly…. 🍕🤤

My local pizza place does a 24 inch one for under a tenner.

I haven't even seen one that size! What a bargain, it's £10 for a 10 inch pizza with 2 toppings where I am.

I do not like Dominoes though and agree it's overrated.

Used to love the king prawn and rocket pizza from Pizza Hut but they sadly stopped doing them.

OnionBhajis · 15/08/2023 17:13

Mystery what recipe do you use? Do you buy marinara?

wants to learn as can't afford domino's!

Pigeon31 · 15/08/2023 17:15

Yeah I def could not eat a large one in one go (I'd probably eat a small one, or - if I'm sensible - make some wedges and salad at home and eat half the small pizza with that and half the next day for lunch), but with prices for takeaway food, you have to compare it with the cost of going out to a restaurant to eat.

Silvers11 · 15/08/2023 17:15

I love food, I love Pizza and am well overweight - but I couldn't ever eat a large one at one sitting - even if I didn't have a side as well. If I was very hungry I have managed to eat a whole medium one, in the past, without a side as well. But if I do I am so stuffed that I feel uncomfortable. So nowadays I don't do that. A medium Pizza will do me 2 - 3 days, with some sides. I don't buy Dominoes sides though - I have things in the freezer, like wedges, or chicken goujons and I just cook them while waiting for the Pizza to arrive. Much cheaper!!

anothermnuser123 · 15/08/2023 17:17

We usually order 2 large stuffed crust pizzas for 3 of us and usually have leftovers for lunch the next day for 2 of us. I think I generally eat 3-4 slices, although if very hungry ive had more before. But as a general rule, stuffed crust I go half a large each.

astarsheis · 15/08/2023 17:18

Only if I was really desperate...

ZeroFuchsGiven · 15/08/2023 17:18

Just placemarking to read the teeny tiny comments!

MattDamon · 15/08/2023 17:18

I'm a healthy weight woman (albeit quite tall) and I can do a large on my own.

We stopped ordering due to COL but before I'd usually do 4 slices, dip, with some wedges and garlic dippers, then go back again for another 4 slices. I'd save the last two slices for breakfast.

Dyra · 15/08/2023 17:20

Large = 13.5" right? Once upon a time I easily could. Nowadays I could probably get through most of it. If I was absolutely starving, I could probably eat the whole lot.

We get Papa John's delivered, or collect from a local place. From papa John's, I eat about half an XXL (15.5"), give a slice or two each to the kids from the other half, then eat the rest for lunch the next day. DH eats most of his XXL, then eats the rest for lunch the next day too. From the local place we get a kids meal for the kids to share, then split a large (~15") with DH. No leftovers from this one.

TotalDramarama · 15/08/2023 17:22

None! I hate pizza 🤢 and especially dislike Domino's (yes, I know I'm a weirdo for this)

But I agree re the cost of take out in general these days. It's so expensive and often isn't even very nice where I live. I love a takeaway though, so it's a but sad. I hardly get them now though as we always find them disappointing and expensive

gogomoto · 15/08/2023 17:22

I once could eat nearly a whole one but these days I can eat just over half. We order 3 for 4 adults - usually comes to about £36

LeapingMarmots · 15/08/2023 17:22

Ds worked for domino's over the summer. After the stories he has told about lack of hygiene and cross contamination with meat products I will be sticking to supermarket pizza in future.

ApolloandDaphne · 15/08/2023 17:24

None. I detest Domino's pizza.

gogomoto · 15/08/2023 17:24

@GoodChat

13.5 inches (local independent large is 16 inches!)

crossstitchingnana · 15/08/2023 17:27

I eat an individual sized one, or half a medium with salad.

Obviously in the minority!!

BarbaraofSeville · 15/08/2023 17:27

ZeroFuchsGiven · 15/08/2023 17:18

Yeah, because not wanting to eat an entire family size pizza to yourself in one go makes you a teeny tiny.

I'd only eat Domino's if it was the only pizza available and would have 2/3 slices of a large.

We have so many pubs and bars here that do excellent wood fired pizza that's cheaper and far nicer. It comes in a size that's about the same as a Domino's medium and I'd probably have just over half and save the rest for lunch the next day.

CurlewKate · 15/08/2023 17:28

@OnionBhajis
"Mystery what recipe do you use? Do you buy marinara?"
The easiest recipe is 3 tins of tomatoes, a quartered peeled onion, 4 cloves of peeled garlic and a big blob of butter simmered over a low heat for about an hour. Blitz or sieve then freeze in 4 portions.
