Biological truth should be taught to children?

Tryingmuchharder · 04/08/2023 20:19

AIBU for thinking that biological truth should be taught to children rather than trans ideology.... men can give birth, people can change sex, etc etc.

A teacher was suspended and appealed and recently his appealed was overturned. He was sacked for 'misgendering' a girl by calling her a girl rather than a boy. He taught biological fact and not ideology so was sacked.

Surely biological facts should be taught to our children? AIBU

The sacked teacher is called Joshua Sutcliffe, who taught Mathematics at Oxford’s Cherwell School, had previously been suspended and then dismissed from his duties in 2017 for calling a girl a girl. This week a teaching ‘professional conduct panel’ chose to permanently ban him from teaching.

There is a petition to try to reinstate him but you are not allowed to put links to petitions so I won't.

The madness is pervasive in society.

In a different matter Euro Disney now want to celebrate LGBTQ?+ in their parade. Is nothing safe from the push for ideology

In a separate article, Glamour magazine ran an article saying that men can give birth. It was a trans man of course, actually a biological female who thinks she is male and so gives birth to demonstrate that men can give birth. It's a lie men cannot give birth. She may have taken hormones to make her more masculine but her biological female body gave birth.

Is this all for publicity?

YANBU but it won't happen. The younger generation who will be having the children of the future are 100% behind all this. It will become the norm. Has already in many circles of life.

twelly · 04/08/2023 20:35

I agree - children should be taught the biological facts. It is appalling that this has happened to a teacher. This ideology is in my view being driven by a very small number of individuals who have gained influence and have been pushing this agenda. I am hopeful that the tide is turning - I am however so sad at how many young people have had their lives ruined by this ideology and the number of families who have been impacted.

cocoloco117 · 04/08/2023 20:36

The ‘biological truth’ is taught in schools though. The examples on your posts don’t relate to the title.

He had plenty more to say than misgendering

Signed.

They should have done a House of Commons petition though. I don’t understand why people use other sites which don’t put pressure on the government.

Did you read the whole lot before signing or did you just read that he used the wrong pronoun?

How about not teaching children to bully their peers for being different? Because that is sure as hell what woukd happen . Not so long ago it was ok to teach people that gay people were mentally ill and that that was also "biological fact"

You reckon?

I have 4 children, the oldest is 17. A few years ago they accepted gender ideology unquestioningly, now they think (and express) that’s it’s a load of made up crap. As a fad, I think it’s dying.

So ideology framed as "biological fact" is bad. I think we can agree on that.

Yes and that black people, women and disabled people were inferior due to being born as they/we are. However these were based on sociological expectations masquerading as biological facts. Now biological facts are being hidden for social expectations. There is simply no evidence that we as mammalian creatures are capable of being born the ‘wrong’ sex. It is simply a human belief system, one’s that mature adults are fully entitled to believe in - as much as one is entitled to believe a god is real or the earth is flat. But belief does not equate fact, and schools should not be teaching personal beliefs as undebatable truth.

SometimesMaybe · 04/08/2023 22:55

I think that children should be told biological truth and I also have no issue with LGBTQ+ being recognised at a Disney parade.
I think we need to step back from the wide divisive positions and consider that the majority of people think
a) womans safe spaces need to be protected and sex is real, and
b) lgbtq+ individuals are also a marginalised section of society and if they want to walk down a street waving their flag then that isn’t hurting anyone

frolp · 04/08/2023 22:56

I am gender critical.

If you read the professional conduct document, this man was rightly banned from teaching.

He expressed views in the classroom about religion, homosexuality, and marriage that were not appropriate or professional.

Ladybrrrd · 04/08/2023 23:01
  • Joshua Sutcliffe was barred for more than 'misgendering'. He was deeply inappropriate in alerting students to his presence online and told Muslim students that they believe in a false God, amongst other things. That is pervasively and persistently pushing 'ideology'.
  • I read the glamour mag. They have made it very clear he is a pregnant trans man. Who we know can get pregnant etc.
  • Disneyland has been very LGBT+ friendly for a very long time. Explicitly so. Do keep up.
Gerrataere · 04/08/2023 23:13

I agree to a point. I do think lumping lesbian, gay, bi, trans people constantly under LGBTQ..+ is damaging. There is no individuality or ability to distinguish a different between sexuality and gender anymore. You read articles about same sex attracted people and they’re never referred to as ‘gay’, they’re ‘LGBT+’ or the horrid ‘Q’ word. There is definitely another issue of gay people being forced back into denial about sexuality that is troublesome beyond education level.

Do you really think children don’t know the facts ? My 7 year old knows how babies are made and what a biological men and woman are , she also knows some people are not happy with their gender and choose to identify and live as the other . She really is nit confused about anything . I think everyone is worried with something that really is getting to much attention due to everyone’s fixation on the subject

You would hope so. Not he case though. Visit a secondary school where the gender crap is in full force. Don't you dare misgender anyone.

Gay people are not mentally ill though. Gay people are mentally ill is not a fact.

Biological face is that you cannot change sex, completely different. No matter how you spin this one, you cannot change your sex. It's in every cell in your body, you cannot change your chromosomes. You might chop bits off or add bits or take hormones or change your clothes but you are still what you are born. You can change your gender and how you see yourself - that is recognised and accepted.

They still all know what biological gender is which is what’s being discussed here .
