To think Sindy was better than Barbie

The Barbie film has brought back memories of my Sindy doll and accessories i had in the early 80s. I loved this Sindy evening dress and i wanted it in a full size version. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/678214025122537700/

I love pink but there was/is so much of it with Barbie whereas Sindy accessories were all different colours and quite tasteful. I had the four poster bed and the writing bureau. And the gig and horse.

You crazy lot, Barbie was infinitely better! My Sindy’s legs wouldn’t bend at the knees like Barbie’s, so she always looked vulgar at the tea parties I threw for them all. Legs sticking out, she had no shame that one.

My Sindy was also in a relationship with an Action Man from down the road.

I had both and Sindy was better. I had one where the eyes blinked - my mum bought her for me as a reward after having a medical.
And I had a Sindy with short hair, which was fab because mine wouldn't grow, so she was more like me!
I had a Pippa - she had bendable knees which was cool.
Other favourites were the Strawberry Shortcake dolls with the scented hair.
Also had a Bionic Woman doll.
My Sindy used to date my brother's Han Solo.

My Sindy actually came with me to the cinema yesterday to watch the Barbie movie.
She worn her green riding trousers with matching plaid shirt and red padded body warmer and yellow trainers.

Someone gave me the Queen doll as she had long red hair like mine

I only had one Sindy, but I had two Sindy horses (the brown one and a dark dapple grey one), AND a very limited edition palomino Barbie horse with a proper mane and tail, and legs that moved. God, I loved my little stable of horses! The Barbie horse came with a Western saddle, and I think at least one of the Sindy horses came with a side-saddle!

Sindy was so much better, I had her house and all the horse paraphernalia

My sister & I weren’t allowed a Barbie as my mum thought she was a tart!! 😂 So we had Sindys! We didn’t get Paul & had noo brothers with Acton Men so my sister cut the hair of one Sindy & tippexed a Willy on her 😱🤣
My mum also knitted a Wonder Woman outfit for Sindy - found a pic on the internet 😂💜

That's the Sindy I had at about the same time. I remember Barbie coming out later and she seemed very brash in comparison.

I had the Sindy Fashion Boutique! It was amazing to behold: a shop at the front, with clothing rails and little Sindy-branded carrier bags, then you turned it around for a Fashion Week catwalk at the back.

I remember despising Barbie, for her stupid pinched face and stupid feet that didn't touch the ground properly. Sindy all the way!

I loved Sindy, I never had a Barbie. My friend had one but we never played with her. I think relative to Sindy, at the age we were we found the shape of her a bit overtly sexual which freaked us out a bit.

I always thought Sindy was the classier version?. Barbie seemed cheap.

And Paul had real hair, Ken just had moulded plastic, or am I imagining that?

I had both but I preferred Sindy, my black Sindy was my favourite of all my dolls and apparently I should have kept hold of it as it's quite a rare one now. I could have made a fortune. I think my mum gave all my dolls away to my younger cousins though.

I had brunette Sindy, I much preferred her to my Barbie. She lived with 3 pippa dolls and bionic woman in a flat I created under my dressing table. I had her bedroom set and bathroom set and the shower worked. Her horse had its stable under my bedside table. I got her jeep and camping set for my birthday and all 5 dolls had many happy adventures camping out along with the horse as they all couldn’t fit in her jeep.

I was a Sindy girl, brunette just like me and I had the bath with running water. My gran used to make hand sewn clothes for her, lovely memories ❤️

Are you me? Did we have the same actual Sindy? The positions they'd perform were quite something, not sure what I was thinking as I was quite innocent 😅

I preferred Barbie growing up but at 15 had a top and badge that said “Barbie is a slut. Love Sindy” 😂😂 the rivalry has always been there.
