How many women do you know who doesn’t wear earrings?

Disclaimer: This is not to be taken too seriously and it’s not affecting my life in any shape or form!

So I’m 36 and don’t have earrings. Don’t like them. Don’t wear them. Don’t even have a holes in my ears. Even as a teenager when I guess you would beg to parents to pierce your ears, I passed that stage without any interest.

And funny enough, now when I’m adult I get ( not a lot but still ) remarks about it.

Like it’s some requirement for a woman to wear ones? Is it considered so normal that when you see someone without ones it’s like you discovered a whole new continent?

I don’t know, is it really that rare for a woman to not like earrings, not wear them, not have a wish to have them or not even pierce my ears?

Can't say I've noticed generally if someone doesn't have their ears pierced. Im one of three sisters, middle sister doesn't have her ears pierced. Youngest sister wears earrings all the time and I wear them occasionally.

jackstini · 28/06/2023 10:35

Me. But that's because dc pulled one of my earrings when a baby so I now have a slit rather than a hole and can't!

I have some clip ons I wear occasionally but they are not very comfortable

DorotheaHomeAlone · 28/06/2023 10:36

Not unusual at all. I have pierced ears but don’t like earrings and never wheat them. My mum is the same as are most women in my family. Never had comments but have occasionally been bought earrings by men who just assumed I must wear them.

IncompleteSenten · 28/06/2023 10:36

I don't have my ears pierced.
I'm trying to think now about women I know and I don't know if they've got their ears pierced. I guess I'm just not that attentive 😁

CustardySergeant · 28/06/2023 10:36

I've never worn earrings in my life (so obviously haven't got pierced ears). I'm 69 now. No one has ever commented or asked me about it. I live in the UK.

Whinge · 28/06/2023 10:37

I'm really surprised people are commenting on it. I have my ears pierced but only wear earrings a couple of times a year. No one has ever commented on my lack of earrings.

cutegorilla · 28/06/2023 10:37

I don't wear them. I did have my ears pierced but they kept getting sore because I reacted to the earrings so I gave up on wearing them. I've never had anyone comment on it though!

LozzaChops101 · 28/06/2023 10:38

I don’t wear them. (I’m 38). The only reason I have pierced ears is because my mum’s friend insisted on paying for them as a birthday present to when I was a kid and so I felt I had to. 😒 I find earrings really uncomfortable, I’m always aware of them.

MrsTwiggy · 28/06/2023 10:38

Me! I've never even had them pierced. I love jewellery, but I've just never had any desire to pierce anywhere to be honest.

I do have some fab vintage clip ons that I wear very occasionally

zoomiesdrivememad · 28/06/2023 10:39

I have mine done, I don't wear earrings daily though. Probably only weekends or if im going somewhere.

Abouttimemum · 28/06/2023 10:39

I don’t have my ears pierced, never been interested, but I’m the only woman amongst my friends and family. I never get asked about it to be honest (I never notice if someone is wearing earrings or not tbh unless they are super obvious!) but a man recently at a party did say ‘why aren’t you wearing any earrings’ and I just said ‘why aren’t you?’ Simple as that really.

Mummy08m · 28/06/2023 10:39

Never pierced my ears either. Tbh I've found more women have given me unsolicited comments about not wearing make-up (but that's a separate rant). No one has bothered me about earrings.

PJRules · 28/06/2023 10:39

Probably easier to ask how many women I know who do wear earrings. Maybe 1?

I had my ears pierced as a child and wore them for years but they're a faff and regularly get caught on hair etc so I just stopped at sone point.

I do mean to buy some for special occasions.

catsnhats11 · 28/06/2023 10:40

I admit, I do find it quite unusual, not that I would say anything or be rude, but only because I thought it was very common for women to have ears pierced, even if they don't wear earrings or the holes have long closed. I had mine done as a child but rarely wear earrings as I don't really like the feel of jewellery (any sort).

DappledThings · 28/06/2023 10:40

I technically have pierced ears but I wear them so infrequently they get very sore after about an hour. I put some in for the first time in months the other day just to see and took them out after 10 minutes.

I don't wear any jewellery other than my wedding ring and no make-up. Never had anyone comment on it.

EightySeven19 · 28/06/2023 10:40

I usted to get asked a lot at my previous work. It was quite a laid back and informal atmosphere and lots of nonsense chit chat. Usually when your hair is up it’s more noticeable I guess. None is stopping me on the street lol 😂

I don't wear earrings and can't remember anyone ever commenting on it.

GettingStuffed · 28/06/2023 10:41

Most of them. I did have my ears pierced but had to stop when the DCs were little, grabby hands. They've closed up now but I'm considering having them repierced

TheSoapyFrog · 28/06/2023 10:42

I don't really notice in others, but I don't have my ears pierced. My mum got mine done when I was little, but I took them out a few years later and have never worn them since. The holes have closed up, but you can still see where the piercings were. I've had friends buy me earrings because it looks as if they are pierced!

Dixiechickonhols · 28/06/2023 10:42

Lots of older ladies don’t.
I had mine done at 44. No one ever commented. I was banned as a child (mum thought common) and once 16 I wasn’t bothered, quite liked being different.
Only had one occasion where work bought me nice earrings as a leaving present that was a bit awkward.

Hellocatshome · 28/06/2023 10:43

I had my ears pierced as a teen, they got horribly infected I let them close up and never had them redone. I have never had earnings and have never had any comments about not wearing them.

Theprincessisblanketed · 28/06/2023 10:43

I had my ears pierced when I was young (wanted it at the time!) but after a few years couldn't be bothered with them and stopped wearing them (20+ years ago).

No one ever comments though. Can't say I notice if other people have them or not.

BringOnSummerHolidays · 28/06/2023 10:43

I don't notice really. I had pierced ears as a teenager, but haven't worn earrings since around mid 20s. I don't like them.

HunkaMunkasslipper · 28/06/2023 10:43

I've never had my ears pierced (I'm 40). My tongue and navel are pierced and in the past I've had several microdermals too, which all rejected. I wanted them done as a child and was told no, my grandmother then wanted to get them done for my next birthday but I'd lost interest by then.

Nobody has ever said anything as far as I remember, but I have been bought earrings as presents a couple of times, people do assume every female has them done.

BringOnSummerHolidays · 28/06/2023 10:44

I mean no one commented on me not having earrings.
