How many women do you know who doesn’t wear earrings?

Disclaimer: This is not to be taken too seriously and it’s not affecting my life in any shape or form!

So I’m 36 and don’t have earrings. Don’t like them. Don’t wear them. Don’t even have a holes in my ears. Even as a teenager when I guess you would beg to parents to pierce your ears, I passed that stage without any interest.

And funny enough, now when I’m adult I get ( not a lot but still ) remarks about it.

Like it’s some requirement for a woman to wear ones? Is it considered so normal that when you see someone without ones it’s like you discovered a whole new continent?

I don’t know, is it really that rare for a woman to not like earrings, not wear them, not have a wish to have them or not even pierce my ears?

I love earrings and wear them daily. However, I wouldn’t even notice if others were not wearing them

😀 I'm intrigued, what other "unconventional views" did these unpeirced weirdo's hold?

I didn't realise I was being such a massive nonconformist just because I don't have peirced ears, I feel like a right anarchist now.

Same, I’m quite enjoying being seen as ‘non conformist’ for the first time in my life 🤣

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 28/06/2023 12:37

I have 2 friends who I know definitely don’t and who aren’t interested in having them pierced. Known both since very young and remember them considering whether to get it done and deciding not to.

apart from that I’ve never really noticed whether people have pierced ears or not, unless they wear particularly noticeable earrings.

mine are pierced but it’s very rare that I bother with earrings.

DrNo007 · 28/06/2023 12:39

I don’t wear them as I react to the metal.

purplecorkheart · 28/06/2023 12:41

Honestly, I couldn't tell you whether any of my friends or family wear earrings other than one aunt who had a earring catch on something and it did a lot of damage to her ear lobe.

Lachimolala · 28/06/2023 12:43

i got my ears pierced at 13 however, I find that jewellery of any kind really sets off my sensory issues/discomfort. So I just don’t wear them, occasionally I have for special occasions and that’s when I find people comment. Probably used to seeing me without any sparkly things in my ears lol 😆

NotQuiteUsual · 28/06/2023 12:46

I don't have them, but no idea on others. I don't actually look unless they have some attention grabbing ones in. I've never had comments either. Well apart from when I was a bridesmaid and the bride mentioned she would save a little not having to buy me any.

girlfriend44 · 28/06/2023 12:50

My mum never had hers pierced she had clip on earrings. I have my ears pierced and think a nice pair of earrings look nice, never had the desire to have them done more than once or any other peircings though. Ears is ok for me.

Lakeyloo · 28/06/2023 12:55

My Mum doesn't feel dressed without her earrings. I had my ears pierced for my 10th birthday and haven't worn earrings since about 1987. I don't think anyone has ever even noticed, let alone mentioned it.

HollaHolla · 28/06/2023 12:55

I always wear tiny hoops in my first holes, and then studs in second, and cartilage piercings. I got my ears done the first time when I was 12. Begged for it. My sister was similar, but I think she only has one set of piercings.
Conversely, my Mum never had ears pierced. I took her to get them done for her 60th birthday, when she said she'd really like them done. I think she mainly only ever wears studs; but lots of folks were surprised it took her until she was 60!

willWillSmithsmith · 28/06/2023 13:01

My ears are pierced but I don’t wear earrings anymore. I might wear them
if I’m on holiday somewhere warm but only costume jewellery. I had to sell my real ones a few years ago when I was struggling financially and haven’t bothered since. Not sure if my piercings are even still open.

LoopyLoo1991 · 28/06/2023 13:02

A friend now 33 hasn't worn any since having one physically ripped out in a club aged 20.
Case of mistaken identity apparently but put her off forever.
Few woman at work have unpierced ears. So might wear clip ons when outside work?

yellowsmileyface · 28/06/2023 13:07

I don't wear any jewellery. I find it too uncomfortable. My mum is the same.

I did get my ears pierced as a kid in an attempt to fit in (as though a hole in my ear would compensate for my social awkwardness!)

Most of my female friends wear earrings, but it's not something I've ever had anyone comment on. Although an ex did once get me a pair of earrings as a gift and I felt too awkward to point out that I never wear jewellery!

Fernand · 28/06/2023 13:10

I think I must wear earrings for you all then!! I've just counted mine up and I've 10 in one ear and 8 in the other (I like them being asymmetrical). All up my lobes and helix. I just wear silver hoops in most and the only earrings I change are the very front lobe piercings - which my Mum got pierced when I was 6 months old - yes I was one of those babies with little gold hoops in before I could walk 😊

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 28/06/2023 13:11

It’s considered unusual at work as I do wear earrings - quirkier the better. Out of a couple of hundred employees, I can only think of maybe 4/5 of us that wear them.

Humphriescushion · 28/06/2023 13:14

Got mine pierced this week in my late 50’s. No one has ever commented when they weren’t and doubt they will now.

PlasticineKing · 28/06/2023 13:16

I have 2 sets of piercings and used to have fairly sensitive ears, but used to middle through. These days I literally can’t wear anything as it’s just so sore. I would love to wear earrings and miss them. Need to try hypoallergenic ones but fear I’m destined to never wear them again 😢

Splishsploshsplash · 28/06/2023 13:16

Me. The only jewellery I wear is my wedding ring.

😂

Unless someone is wearing big statement earrings, I have never even paid attention.
Now I feel like a weirdo because I don't notice if people have pierced ears or not, wear earrings or not!

JusthereforXmas · 28/06/2023 13:21

I have a friend with only 1 ear pierced (although likely closed now) as she bottled it half way through... she has ZERO pain threshold so not a surprise, it more weird that its just 1 done.

As for wearing earrings, can't say I have ever noticed if people do unless they are massive and obvious danglers. I have my ears pierced but rarely ever wear earrings, when I do (on occasions like a night out or wedding) I wear dainty little studs. No one has ever commented either way on me wearing earrings.

Xanadu58 · 28/06/2023 13:23

I had my ears pierced when I was 11 and wore earrings up until about 6 years ago and just stopped . I can still get earrings in , just choose not to.

Topseyt123 · 28/06/2023 13:30

I had my ears pierced when I was about 20, I think (long time ago, I am nearly 57 now).

I wore earrings for a couple of years if I remember rightly, but didn't really like them and have almost never worn them since although the holes are still there.

I find that one of my ears always inflames itself a little and becomes hot and itchy whatever metal I put in it. The other is OK but I can never remember which is which. I've always hated catching them with a hairbrush or when I put my glasses on/take them off.

So I ditched the earrings and really can't be arsed with them. The only jewellery I wear is my wedding ring.

Two of my three adult DDs have several piercings each. The other isn't interested either.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/06/2023 13:35

Me! I'm 58 Never had them pierced and have never wanted them even though my hair is short
I'm not really a jewellery lover

DuckyDaffodil · 28/06/2023 13:38

Had mine pierced at 16, after years of nagging. They lasted about 2 minutes, as I was wildly allergic to them. Still unable to wear gold decades on.

kitsuneghost · 28/06/2023 13:40

I had my ears pierced young. Earrings hurt my ears now so I never wear them
Absolutely no-one has commented
