How many women do you know who doesn’t wear earrings?

Disclaimer: This is not to be taken too seriously and it’s not affecting my life in any shape or form!

So I’m 36 and don’t have earrings. Don’t like them. Don’t wear them. Don’t even have a holes in my ears. Even as a teenager when I guess you would beg to parents to pierce your ears, I passed that stage without any interest.

And funny enough, now when I’m adult I get ( not a lot but still ) remarks about it.

Like it’s some requirement for a woman to wear ones? Is it considered so normal that when you see someone without ones it’s like you discovered a whole new continent?

I don’t know, is it really that rare for a woman to not like earrings, not wear them, not have a wish to have them or not even pierce my ears?

Had my ears pierced as a teenager, but earrings irritate my ears even when wearing pure gold/silver so now I've given up, which is a shame as I do like a nice pair of earrings.

Don't know if it's rare but I don't like earrings and know several women like me and you.
But honestly who cares if it's popular or normal or some such shit?
Your ears, your choice.

Literally something I have never noticed

I have holes in my ears but never wear earrings unless I'm going somewhere nice for a few hours. They irritate my ears after a while.

I had ears pierced at 16 and mainly my ear lobes were then pulsating pus filled balls of agony for a few years until I let them close up! That took another five years or so and I had scar tissue in them that whole time. I'm now 48 and don't even think about my lack of earrings, or earrings in others.

I had mine pierced while I was about 13 and they never properly healed up. Took them out a few years ago but I do feel like the only woman I know who doesn't wear earrings!

The holes have very nearly healed up, thinking about it I don't think I've worn earrings since dd1 was a baby, so nearly 9 years. How are they still gunky holes!?

I want to get it done and went to a local jewellery shop but they said they don’t do it anymore, and the only local place is Claire’s! I just don’t want to be amongst the ten year olds.

I don't have mine pierced and I don't think anyone has really noticed. I had them done at 12 after begging my mum for years, but I think I just wanted them done as a sign of being grown up rather than actually wanting them done. I made it through the six weeks and hated how they looked and felt, so as soon as I was able to take them out I couldn't face putting them back in and they closed up.

Now that my daughter is an age when her friends are starting to get theirs done, other mums have started asking me about getting hers done. I find that weird!

You'll be in and out in 5 minutes! I must say I love my earrings as they give a little lift when everything else I have on is usually quite plain and they're a treat buy for me every now and then.

I wore earrings in my teens, but haven't worn any for at least 20 years. I don't really notice whether or not anyone else is wearing them unless they are particularly nice.

I love jewellery - it’s my “thing” - but I’ve never had my ears pierced and don’t get on with clip on earrings. Nobody has ever connected (I usually wear har down, so you wouldn’t see my ears much), but I have been bought earrings before, as presumably it’s assumed that I do. The idea of piercing anything horrifies me; I’ve just never been able to get over that! And clip ons hurt….

I had my ears pierced as a child and wore earrings in my teens and 20s but I haven’t for at least 15 years. My dd2 was desperate for her ears pierced and got them done for her 8th bday but dd1 is 13 and never had any interest in having hers done!

The idea of any kind of piercing just freaks me out. I like how they look, but the idea of a needle going through my skin makes me gip. I have a lot of tattoos, which doesn’t bother me because the needle isn’t going right through!

Never worn earrings, but never had a single comment on it either.

I used to wear earrings all the time bit started getting allergy issues and stopped. I've tried to go back to them but the problems resurfaced. When I wore earrings someone would occasionally comment on the design but no-one has ever mentioned their absence.

The only woman I know without ear piercings is my grandmother. I asked her once and she said she ‘didn’t want extra holes in her body’. She used to wear clip ons but hasn’t for a few years.

At 66,I've never had my ears pierced,not ever felt a desire to do so. I do have many sets of my late DGM's clip-on earrings; they're gorgeous but do hurt after wearing for a while and I'm scared of losing them anyway.

I think most women I know probably wear earrings (even if it's not every day). But I couldn't swear to it as I think a lot of the time I just don't notice. If their hair covers their ears and/or they only wear a small pair of studs it probably doesn't register with me really. I've got nine ear piercings myself but thinking about friends and colleagues etc, in most cases I honestly couldn't tell you if they wear earrings or not.

Even if I noticed that someone didn't have pierced ears, I certainly wouldn't think it was odd or unusual enough to ask them about it. I wouldn't see pierced ears as the default setting.

I like earrings. I think they’re pretty. But I can’t bring myself to put holes in my body. To me, it feels like an act of self-mutiliation, and I’m trying really hard to accept my body for the way it is. I almost wish I’d had my ears pierced when I was too young to overthink it.

I'm 52 and have never bothered to have my ears pierced. No one's ever commented on my lack of earrings. I work in a primary school and usually kids are quite brutal with questions like "why is your hair messy?" or "why have you got a spot on your nose?" but no child has ever asked why I'm not wearing earrings! I don't think people are that bothered.

I had two in each ear as a teen. Haven't worn earrings for 20+ years and don't think anyone has ever commented!

I never wear them for work because I use a headset for several hours a day and it’s really uncomfortable to do that with earrings in. I’ve never noticed whether colleagues do or not, and I really couldn’t care less.
