... to be crushed, I tell you, crushed, by what I've just discovered in my food cupboard?

Sad Disappointment GIF by BBC America

NO RICE PUDDING. That's what I've just found. No rice pudding. I just fancied some Ambrosia pudding but somehow there is none there. Nobody except me eats the stuff here so it's my fault the last tin used was never replaced. No one to blame but myself. That makes it a million times worse. Sad

Anybody got anything equally earth-shattering to share?

Its horrendously priced now too. DH refuses to buy it anymore. Maybe that's the reason you didn't replace it?

BettyBooper · 16/05/2023 19:24

No cheese. WTAF. Brother ate it. Bloody despicable.

HowDoYouDoWhatYouDoToMeIWishIKnew · 16/05/2023 19:25

I made myself some chicken, veg, and yorkies yesterday, I've been really unwell so it's the first thing I've fancied for days.

There was no chicken gravy 😭

I went in a mood with myself and never ate any of it. Cut my nose off to spite my face there 🤣 I feel your pain op.

TheFoz · 16/05/2023 19:25

The wine I bought yesterday in a rush isn’t all that nice.

AllAboutMargot · 16/05/2023 19:26

My muffins have gone mouldy 😭

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 16/05/2023 19:27

That is not good. I hate it when that happens.

OTOH what will happen now is, you will replace the tin, yay, and forget you have replaced it, nooooo, and repeat this until you have about 6 tins and they will keep wobbling stacked on the shelf and then one will bob off and land on your foot. Sigh.

Skyrim40 · 16/05/2023 19:28

I was going to make rice pudding from scratch the other day because I ran out of Muller rice. Does anyone know if it's easy to make?

Breathmiller · 16/05/2023 19:29

I am in a house with no oatcakes! NO OATCAKES! Tis a travesty.

KnittedCardi · 16/05/2023 19:32

I just ate three (empty) M&S Mini Cornish pasties for dinner (no filling, just pastry) some cucumber and tomatoes, followed by yoghurt and blueberries. DH is away, I defrosted the freezer so empty, and shop coming tomorrow. Literally nothing else to eat. Well I could have porridge, but felt that was a bridge too far 😂

TheYearOfSmallThings · 16/05/2023 19:32

Last week I had a twix, with a cup of tea. I ate the first finger (very nice), then drank some tea and sent some WhatsApp messages. Then I reached out to get the other twix finger and...it was gone.

Nobody else came into the room while I was sitting there. It is fairly clear that a ghost ate my twix.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 16/05/2023 19:32

I bought a brand new jar of Nutella. When I was trying to put it in the top cupboard, it fell and shattered on the tiled floor. I hadn't even tasted it.

I am still in mourning.

Azealeasinbloom · 16/05/2023 19:33

@Skyrim40 creamed rice , like from a tin, is fairly easy. Pint of full fat milk, 3 tablespoons of rice of your choice ( long grain or arborio are fine, you don’t need pudding rice) , sugar to taste ( 1 tablespoon ?)
simmer very slowly on the hob stirring as often as you can be bothered ( just don’t let it stick)- bit like milky risotto. Could take 45 mins depending on the rice.

if you want a baked rice pudding with the caramelised skin, you need an oven, but I have never done that.

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 16/05/2023 19:35

Come to mine OP, there's a tin that's been lurking at the back of my cupboard for over a year!

I got an Aldi (pretty sure it was theirs, but if not Lidl) version of Ambrosia creamed rice. I thought it was very nice!

FishTankSally · 16/05/2023 19:36

Gosh now I too really want rice pudding OP Sad

WellTidy · 16/05/2023 19:37

I’ve started to batch cook rice pudding. It started off because I had a load of cream and milk that were going out of date, and it tasted so good that I just made more and more. It is pudding rice, caster sugar, vanilla extract, salt, milk and cream. Easy as anything! And it freezes well so I now have rice pudding whenever I want. Something to think about - rice pudding always to hand?!

847arc · 16/05/2023 19:38

YABVVU, I thought you’d found a chimpanzee in there and now I’m disappointed.

I use this recipe, it's so good and easy enough. I usually substitute vanilla extract for the vanilla pod unless I'm feeling fancy

Bibittybobittyboop · 16/05/2023 19:44

I had no idea rice pudding was in tins. Granted, I am not in the Uk and also I haven't looked for it, but still! Going grocery shopping tomorrow... 😊

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/05/2023 19:44

I am in a foul mood mid stressful week so I have bought my second takeaway in 2 days, and thus the already qu expensive m n s meals I bought because of the busy week have not been eaten.

moronic

HellyR · 16/05/2023 19:45

I always try to keep a few cans of both Ambrosia custard and Ambrosia rice pudding in the cupboard. However! Whichever one I want to go and get out, I find the cupboard is full of the other one and none of the one I want!

Some spirits are conspiring against me, I know it.

MakesMeFeelSad · 16/05/2023 19:46

I dropped the last Yorkie on the floor yesterday and the dog snaffled it

Super, super easy. But takes a while in the oven. Serve with a dollop of jam and judge your family on who likes the skin or not 😂

Oh No Facepalm GIF by MOODMAN

I was like that last week. I bought a small tub of lower calorie ice cream and nougat wafers. Not had one for 20+years.

A few days later, I thought I'll have some ice cream and a nougat wafer and the ice am had gone. My daughters vanilla icream was gone too. The culprit? My DS who is training and has a high protein duet decided he fancied some so ate tge whole tub pls ate his sisters a few days before

Oysterbabe · 16/05/2023 19:49

Rice pudding is gross. It looks like someone already ate it.
