... to be crushed, I tell you, crushed, by what I've just discovered in my food cupboard?

Sad Disappointment GIF by BBC America

NO RICE PUDDING. That's what I've just found. No rice pudding. I just fancied some Ambrosia pudding but somehow there is none there. Nobody except me eats the stuff here so it's my fault the last tin used was never replaced. No one to blame but myself. That makes it a million times worse. Sad

Anybody got anything equally earth-shattering to share?

YABVVU, I thought you’d found a chimpanzee in there and now I’m disappointed.

Me too.

Jolly bad form. Tsk.

Darker · 16/05/2023 20:32

I didn’t know I wanted creamed rice pudding until this minute.

Now I’m inconsolable…. 😭

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 16/05/2023 20:32

I feel your pain, OP.
I wanted to cook with chicken. The chicken breasts I had in the freezer turned out to be pork chops. Humph.

RicherThanYews · 16/05/2023 20:32

My husband ate my Turkish Delight chocolate bar despite it being my only item in the treat cupboard and he has 30 creme eggs and 3 bars of Hotel Chocolat in there 😡

Hopelesslydevotedtoshrews · 16/05/2023 20:32

Went to stay with my parents last week for a couple of days. Made them a couple of meals for the freezer as my Mum's just had an operation. Went to the spice cupboard and found a distinctive jar of vindaloo spices that they had when I lived with them in my late teens...

I am 47 years old now. I didn't throw it away, I want to send it to a museum!

I had no idea rice pudding was in tins. Granted, I am not in the Uk and also I haven't looked for it, but still! Going grocery shopping tomorrow... 😊

It's the only milk pudding I can eat, it has to be eaten very cold from the fridge and straight from the tin, no cissy bowls for me!

TopOfTheCliff · 16/05/2023 20:33

I love rice pudding with hot salted butter melted in a puddle on top like they have as street food in Copehagen. Hubbards rice pudding in Sainsbury’s is only 25p a tin. It’s my chemotherapy comfort food

When I still had young adults living at home, there was the Avocado Incident. Had gone for a long walk and passed a wee shop that has loads of lovely fruit and veg, not unripe stuff like in our local supermarket.

I bought 3 avocados. They were just right, not too hard and not too soft. I looked forward to them all day. When I went to have one, there were none!

My kids had eaten all 3 between the two of themAngry

Cut up the strawberries both pots of cream are out of date and off - bleurgh the guinea pigs can have them….

Seymour5 · 16/05/2023 20:36

Rachel’s Organic rice puds. I’ll have to get some tomorrow!

crew2022 · 16/05/2023 20:36

Just fancied a few squares of a chocolate bar I had stashed. Turns out it's been uncovered by someone!!! I no longer have any chocolate stashed and the local shop has just shut!

Dm used to eat rice pudding from the tin when she was dieting and thought none of us knew!

My DH ate the entire box of mars ice-creams in the freezer.

"You snooze, you lose" is his catchphrase.

He's lucky to be alive some days 😝

Strawberrydelight78 · 16/05/2023 20:38

Minniem2020 · 16/05/2023 20:38

I’ve just been for a run. I knew there was a kitkat chunky in the car for my return.

There was. But it had melted… and sort of re-set again.

It wasn’t chunky. It was sort of sludgy. 1 hour of work for that limp dick of a treat. Gutted.

😂 this is a prime example of MN needing a like button. Proper laughed at this description.

Just tell him Ohpleeeease doesn't share food. It worked for Joey in Friends.

I will not ever share food.

"Let's get a curry, what do we all fancy?"
Well I fancy my own bloody dish and will not be putting it in the middle of the table for everyone else to have. Get your own if you want what I've ordered 😡

"Flicked it out and half my tooth came with it. So my £8 cake will cost me £308. Gutted!"

Oh no 😦. That was one hell of an expensive raspberry.

A few years ago my late OH bought some dried broad bean snacky things, he broke a tooth on one and that too cost him a lot of money!

I was like that last week. I bought a small tub of lower calorie ice cream and nougat wafers. Not had one for 20+years.

A few days later, I thought I'll have some ice cream and a nougat wafer and the ice am had gone. My daughters vanilla icream was gone too. The culprit? My DS who is training and has a high protein duet decided he fancied some so ate tge whole tub pls ate his sisters a few days before

I was going to say the exact same about my 18yr old son. Had a whole tub of raspberry ripple, had been sitting in the freezer a few weeks, son is doing heavy weight training and has been on a high protein diet. Saturday with it being really hot I thought oh i fancy some of that ice cream. Low and behold he decided to have a cheat day a few days before and demolished the whole tub!! CF even had the nerve to stick the empty back in the freezer 🤬

I went past a very posh conditori earlier and the most beautiful cake I've ever seen caught my eye. It was very expensive, around £8 for a single cake. With gorgeous fresh raspberries on top. So I went in and treated myself. Got a rasberry seed caught in my teeth. Flicked it out and half my tooth came with it. So my £8 cake will cost me £308. Gutted!

I had similar with a mini egg once...split my tooth and I needed an implant...£3k later...

HeyLala · 16/05/2023 20:40

I have 2 tins. Come round. Do you like it warm or cold?

Hankunamatata · 16/05/2023 20:41

Making my greek salad to discover no feta. Its just not worth it now

Dm used to eat rice pudding from the tin when she was dieting and thought none of us knew!

My late OH seemed to think that food eaten straight from the fridge, standing up, wasn't fattening. I used to say that sounds like a teenager saying you can't get pregnant standing up!

Ohpleeeease · 16/05/2023 20:42

I managed to break a tooth on mushroom soup. Still no idea how…
