... to be crushed, I tell you, crushed, by what I've just discovered in my food cupboard?

Sad Disappointment GIF by BBC America

NO RICE PUDDING. That's what I've just found. No rice pudding. I just fancied some Ambrosia pudding but somehow there is none there. Nobody except me eats the stuff here so it's my fault the last tin used was never replaced. No one to blame but myself. That makes it a million times worse. Sad

Anybody got anything equally earth-shattering to share?

Yesterday I went to the supermarket for a few things, not actually hungry at the time, looked at crisps, thought no, I don't need crisps and I don't even really want crisps so I won't get them.
Got home. Really really really wanted crisps. Wtf?

I was going to make rice pudding from scratch the other day because I ran out of Muller rice. Does anyone know if it's easy to make?

@Skyrim40 I do the hob method (only downside is no nutmeg skin). 200g rice, 1litre Milk, 80g or less sugar. I use less sugar as I often have ice cream with it. Boil the rice for 3 mins in water. Drain then add milk to the rice. Bring to boil and cook until ready.

Teddypops · 16/05/2023 19:50

DH thought he had picked up rice pudding today in Asda, turns out he picked up low sugar/fat custard!!!

Yes I do plan to LTB!!

Doggymummar · 16/05/2023 19:50

I had Tesco low fT Rice pudding for dinner a whole tin

Butchyrestingface · 16/05/2023 19:50

In over 40 something perambulations around the sun, I don't believe I have ever tasted rice pudding. Sad

Should I buy some?

Plump82 · 16/05/2023 19:52

Dibbydoos · 16/05/2023 19:48

I was like that last week. I bought a small tub of lower calorie ice cream and nougat wafers. Not had one for 20+years.

A few days later, I thought I'll have some ice cream and a nougat wafer and the ice am had gone. My daughters vanilla icream was gone too. The culprit? My DS who is training and has a high protein duet decided he fancied some so ate tge whole tub pls ate his sisters a few days before

Almost exactly the same story for me.
Low fat Ben & Jerry's salted caramel ice cream. My husband asked if he could eat and replace. Sure I said. He did replace and then also bought himself 2 more tubs as he's a pig who can eat a tub in one sitting. I've been looking forward to mine for ages. Decided to have it last night and what he didn't realise he'd done was buy 2 salted caramel and one chocolate cookie. And left me the chocolate cookie flavour. I hate chocolate ice cream and so was very, very grumpy!

YABVVU, I thought you’d found a chimpanzee in there and now I’m disappointed.

🤣🤣🤣

FourChimneys · 16/05/2023 19:54

I'm not a fan of rice pudding although DH likes some now and again. He adds raisins which seems odd but each to their own etc etc.

However, has anyone else noticed a shortage of sugar snap peas? I've scoured the shops from Aldi to Morrison, from Tesco to Waitrose and there are none. How on earth do we get our five a day??!?

I bought a brand new jar of Nutella. When I was trying to put it in the top cupboard, it fell and shattered on the tiled floor. I hadn't even tasted it.

I am still in mourning.

This is why we need to get the whole time travelling thing sorted out. One quick input onto a personal time travel wristband and you would have been prepared to catch that jar as it fell, or alternatively would have put in in a safer place than a top shelf in the first place , but either way, reliable time travel would have sorted it out.

Pixiedust1234 · 16/05/2023 19:24

Its horrendously priced now too. DH refuses to buy it anymore. Maybe that's the reason you didn't replace it?

It £1.90 a tin so is their custard !!!!!
One bloody tin
I needed it but no way could I pay that
I'm going to start baking it again, much nicer
Good old Nanas secret recipe wins again

Rice pudding cold out of the tin. Delicious 🤤

polkadotdalmation · 16/05/2023 19:57

Substitute milk from my real milkman was (a) skimmed (I hate skimmed milk) and (b) went sour on day 2.

There will be words if this is repeated.

gogohmm · 16/05/2023 19:59

I ran out of rosemary crackers, obviously a disaster of biblical proportions Grin

Strange tastes I have

WestwardHo1 · 16/05/2023 20:01

I know those moments. It's the utter cruelty that gets you.

sashh · 16/05/2023 20:02

If you are in Wolverhampton I have a tin, it is out of date, but does that matter with a tin?

Last week I had a twix, with a cup of tea. I ate the first finger (very nice), then drank some tea and sent some WhatsApp messages. Then I reached out to get the other twix finger and...it was gone.

Nobody else came into the room while I was sitting there. It is fairly clear that a ghost ate my twix.

This happens to me ALL THE TIME!! We must have the same ghost.

Fansandblankets · 16/05/2023 20:04

I got super organised today and cut up the chicken and veg ready to do a Thai dish I saw on Tesco recipes. Merrily throwing it all in the pan later and realised they hadn’t delivered the red curry paste 🤦‍♀️. Made some random chicken mushroom and chilli concoction instead, it was disgusting 😂😂

It's extremely easy to make. Every packet of pudding(short grain) rice has a recipe on the back. I just chuck in all in the slow cooker (rice, milk, blob of marg, occasionally some nutmeg too) and leave it.

Jellykat · 16/05/2023 20:05

YABVU Rice pudding is the devils spermatozoa.. its foul!!

Justlovedogs · 16/05/2023 20:05

Went to make roast beef, horseradish and lettuce sandwiches for lunch today, no horseradish. Disaster! Had to make do with mustard instead. Good, but not the same.

Rosiepeta · 16/05/2023 20:07

Really needed a glass of ( bottle) of wine tonight and I've accidentally picked up CHARDONNAY!
Eurgh!
Am livid with myself ! Proper cross.

Would be so gutted about the rice pudding!
Cold from the tin ..tis divine!

flyingtherag · 16/05/2023 20:07

I’ve just been for a run. I knew there was a kitkat chunky in the car for my return.

There was. But it had melted… and sort of re-set again.

It wasn’t chunky. It was sort of sludgy. 1 hour of work for that limp dick of a treat. Gutted.

Exactly! Where is The Doctor when you need him? Never mind the bloody Cybermen, I've down one jar of Nutella and, quite frankly, the universe comes second to my desire for a chocolate spread sandwich.

My muffins have gone mouldy 😭

Sounds painful Wink

notacooldad · 16/05/2023 20:09

I'm in a mood because what I found this afternoon. A full unopened tub of Philly cheese. I really wanted some yesterday to mash into my avocado and I couldn't see any at a glance and was gutted that I didn't have any. I used my avocado and now I've got the cheese.
