Sad Disappointment GIF by BBC America

NO RICE PUDDING. That's what I've just found. No rice pudding. I just fancied some Ambrosia pudding but somehow there is none there. Nobody except me eats the stuff here so it's my fault the last tin used was never replaced. No one to blame but myself. That makes it a million times worse. Sad

Anybody got anything equally earth-shattering to share?

Homemade rice pudding is about the easiest dessert to make. However it takes a while to cook.

daisychain01 · 16/05/2023 20:43

Love and prayers @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g I hope in time you come to terms with your loss.

Ive got a packet of Birds Semolina (Use by Dec 2018) if that helps?

I bought a brand new jar of Nutella. When I was trying to put it in the top cupboard, it fell and shattered on the tiled floor. I hadn't even tasted it.

I am still in mourning.

This makes me sad. Sympathy.

I have no more chocolate. Sob.

I want that. 5 years out of date is nowt to me, packet wise.

TheDogthatDug · 16/05/2023 20:49

I inhaled a whole pack of Tunnocks teacakes in about half an hour today. Naturally, I hid the evidence.

I was going to make rice pudding from scratch the other day because I ran out of Muller rice. Does anyone know if it's easy to make?

This might actually not help but

Slow cooker rice pudding, made with coconut milk?

I've done it for others and it's super easy, but sadly I despise rice pudding so can only go on what others say. I'm told its delicious.

TheMadGardener · 16/05/2023 20:50

I live about 15 minutes' drive from the Ambrosia factory, OP (you can smell it as you drive past!)

Do you need me to go and break in and get you a pallet or two of tins??

My own secret sadness is that I wanted cheese and crackers when I got home and there were no crackers...

WesterChick · 16/05/2023 20:50

Weep for me, I have gin and no tonic Sad

ToHellBackAndBeyond · 16/05/2023 20:51

I have no potato cakes in at all. None. Because they went out of date yesterday and I had to eat them all. Also Morrisons put the giant crumpets back up to full price so I couldn't justify buying them.
It's a hard and cruel world we live in. Sigh.

Dh made us a coffee. (TY DH) it wasn’t hot enough. As in i could drink it all in one go. He knows I have an asbestos mouth.

Someone bought me a tea at work today. I took a big swig and it was lukewarm.

Fellow asbestos mouth owner, feeling your pain

georgarina · 16/05/2023 20:54

I've mourned the loss of white chocolate Chunky Kit Kats since they disappeared a few years ago.

Finally found a four pack in Morrison's, and wanted one this afternoon. Went to the cupboard...and they're gone!

NeighbourhoodonWatch · 16/05/2023 20:55

I had all the ingredients to make a delicious salmon, sweetcorn and pepper omelette for my dinner tonight.

However, all the small frying pans were in the dishwasher. So I made it in a small milk pan as that is all that was clean.

Not a good idea...it was like sludge!

In over 40 something perambulations around the sun, I don't believe I have ever tasted rice pudding. Sad

Should I buy some?

No, but you should make one. A baked one using a tin of carnation evaporated milk instead of some of the normal milk, and with lots of freshly grated nutmeg on top. Tinned is not at all comparable.

No whole nut chocolate.

We have fruit and nut but I'm hankering after whole nut.

The thing that's really getting on my tits about it is that no one else here really likes whole nut so they clearly ate it for the hell of it

Used to make it all the time when I had three hungry boys to feed. It really is easy! Just make sure you use pudding rice 😊😊

ThatshallotBaby · 16/05/2023 20:59

I keep making really shit brownies. So disappointing. I’m going to stop doing it to myself.

No! God, don't - you can't comprehend how vomitous it is. It's one of those foods you have to be fed from infancy to actually enjoy. Like rotted shark, or boiled chicken embryo, or french poo sausage. Only worse.

Please, please elaborate on what French poo sausage is TheYearOfSmallThings?

I really must know and whilst I'm no expert, French poo sausage does not seem like a term I should ask Google......

I had similar with a mini egg once...split my tooth and I needed an implant...£3k later...

£3k OMG, now I'm worried. I just thought it'd be normal filling price.

KisstheTeapot14 · 16/05/2023 21:09

Just eaten ready break with golden syrup as there is nothing else sweet in the house.

Well OK cough sweets, but if I'm eating them for a sugar fix I know times is hard.

Yes! It's lovely with jam mixed in, or nutmeg sprinkled on top. 😋

My husband has discovered my secret curlywurly stash.
Worse, the bastard cunningly replaced the empty package so I’ve been smugly sneaking peeks at it for days only to find out, after tonight’s healthy salad tea, that there are none left. I will therefore have to remain healthy, and hungry, until tomorrow.
Murder is too good for certain people.

I’ve started to batch cook rice pudding. It started off because I had a load of cream and milk that were going out of date, and it tasted so good that I just made more and more. It is pudding rice, caster sugar, vanilla extract, salt, milk and cream. Easy as anything! And it freezes well so I now have rice pudding whenever I want. Something to think about - rice pudding always to hand?!

Poke in sticks and you have rice pudding pops! 😂
