Some Tories don't think the Tories have gone far enough either. That party is riddled with TRAs, including the ticking timebomb that is Jamie Wallis and he/she/they are primed to go off while still in power.

A Labour government is a currently a hypothetical thing. I am concerned with the people in power now and this Tory government has a proven record for destroying women's rights, human rights, education, the NHS and the economy. Their a bunch of chaotic, shambolic, corrupt, lying, swivel eyed loons. And they still have another year of fucking things up before they're put in the bin.

Can you tell us which women's rights they have destroyed?

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2023 21:13

"Schrodinger's Tories. Want to force women to go back to work and put their children in nursery. Also want to stop women from going to university and force them to stay at home with their many children."

Not it's not Schrödinger Tories. It's a divided party.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/05/2023 21:13

MargotBamborough · 17/05/2023 21:08

If you can't win people over with intelligent arguments (because you haven't got any) just gaslight them instead, huh.

It's worked for the Tories. All that "at least the Conservatives know what a woman is" bollocks that's been doing the rounds for years was a straight up lie invented by their spin doctors. And repeated by people with memories so short they didn't realise that it was the Tories who ceded our rights to the TRAs.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Don't forget that before that we had the EU as the devil incarnate and the cause of all the UKs problems.

It strikes me that the challenge the Tories have is that since Brexit they can't blame the EU for all of their errors and so they are desperately thrashing around trying to find someone else to blame for their inadequcies.

If you’re sick of women discussing their rights well tough really.

Be sick of it all you like it won’t do much.

Although you’re in good company with Lammy, Drakeford and Starmer.

Plenty of silencing tactics you can steal from them.

I didn't say I'm sick of women discussing their rights thanks. I said many of us are sick of certain posters, including you, turning up on every single thread discussing Tory failures/issues and trying desperately to deflect it into a "BUT LABOUR ARE WORSE" thread.

There's a very simple solution to this though.

The other parties could admit that they do in fact know what a woman is and that we shouldn't be support humans for men with special identities. They could protect our single sex spaces and our sports.

They could, you know, focus on coming up with sensible policies that the public actually supports and get the Tories out, rather than "women can have penises and if you disagree you're a horrible bigoted dinosaur who needs to be re-educated".

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 17/05/2023 21:16

MargotBamborough · 17/05/2023 15:06

You know they wouldn't be able to use Labour's attitude towards women against them if Labour didn't have such an awful attitude towards women, right?

I don't understand why some people get angry with women for calling out Labour for their views on women's rights, rather than getting angry with Labour for having those views in the first place.

The party can only be changed from the inside. And only by enough people who are actually left wing and actually want to vote Labour - and ideally are Labour members - saying, "Hang on a minute, guys. You can't call women "dinosaurs" for wanting single sex spaces."

You know it's quite possible for people to want to discus more than one topic at a time AND to actually be able to discuss the topic the thread is about without constant derailment attempts, right?

If you/they want to discuss Labour's attitude to women's rights create your own thread addressing that issue or comment on one that is about that.

I'm not angry, it's frustrating when I want to discuss government policy / political ideologies on a range of topics only for the topic to be turned into a "BUT LABOUR ARE WORSE" thread, which inevitably results in a "well, at least tories know what a women is" comment and concludes with the last few pages being about that topic once again.

Interestingly on your last point, I once suggested that if posters are so concerned about Labour's attitude to women they should join up and change it from within. I was then soundly told that would be impossible becuase labour would just kick anyone who didn't tow the party line on that issue out.

I then suggested that if it was such a huge concern for so many people there would be enough people to either force a change through sheer numbers or to create their own movement to challenge the status quo, but again was given another series of excuses as to why that couldn't happen either.

It's quite clear that the majority of posters who harp on about that topic don't really care too much about women's rights. They certainly don't seem to care enough to actually do anything about it anyway. Rather it seems to be a convenient deflection topic for the TDS.

Are you just going to dismiss everyone who raises this issue as "the TDS"?

Christ what a massive derail But yes Tories hate women especially working class women One min its "dont have kids you cant afford" Next its "its your fault for not having enough kids" Gaslighting bastards. But i guess its because they need a group they can feel superior to

Did you not get the memo? It's now
The Civil Service's fault.
Poor people's fault.
Middle class people's fault.
Labour's fault.
Lawyers' fault.
Asylum seekers who have only just arrived in the country's fault.
Sick people's fault.
Disabled people's fault.

Their campaign song for the next election is Shaggy's It wasn't me. And when they lose it will be Shaggy's fault.

I’m intrigued by the foot stamping, deletions due to incorrect claims, weird PMs on this thread

Posters seem unable to discuss different views

@MargotBamborough Im 50 next month Way past my fertile years. So i couldnt give a fuck PERSONALLY whether they ban abortion or not But i am concerned for younger women. You remember those dont you? The ones you are concerned about when it comes to potential Labour policies affecting them but Tories............not so much

This thread is mad.

I used to think that GC's had some salient points, particularly around prisons, mental health settings etc

However, threads like this really, really make me want to distance myself as far as possible from anybody who describes themselves as "gender critical".

Anyway, trans rights are human rights.

I'm off, enjoy yourselves ladies Biscuit

Trans people already have all the same rights as everybody else, plus a few more that no one else has.

If people not responding to your ridiculous hyperbole in the way you'd hoped makes you less likely to support the rights of women to have female only rape crisis support, or not to be raped by Karen White in prison, or not to lose sporting opportunities to cheating males, that says more about you than it does about us I'm afraid.

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2023 21:32

So my takeaway from this thread is that the appearance of the Home Secretary, the Conservative chair, Cates, JRM, Gove and Kruger at the National Conservatism conference is an irrelevance because -
a) they've only got at best 18 months left in power; and
b) it's a lunatic fringe event that nobody listens to and will zero influence over Conservative policy now or in the future.
I can live with that.
Enjoy what remains of your evening.

Why are you concerned about the Tories banning abortion when this is not a Tory policy, they probably couldn't make it happen even if they wanted to, and they're almost certainly going to be out of power before the end of next year?

Human rights apply to trans as much as anyone else. They do not give this group the right to ride roughshod over women’s rights
