This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

You do get this is a totally different organisation (and mostly American based) than the Conservative Party right?

Wait til the post election leadership vote - not for long, I suspect

L1ttledrummergirl · 16/05/2023 17:03

Are they planning on rebounding the conservatives as the nat c party as per the conference? That worked well in Germany.

kateislate · 16/05/2023 17:05

Fladdermus · 16/05/2023 16:01

Didn't one of the speakers say that the fact Germany 'mucked it up twice' when they tried nationalism shouldn't put Britain off.

Yes, the absolute c**t that is Douglas Murray. He's never held back on his fascist and racist tendencies yet gets platformed by the media like he's a serious person worth listening to.

But as one of the speakers said earlier, just because it didn't work in Germany doesn't mean it can't work in Britain. They're not even trying to hide it now.

I thought that about Tories putting male rapists in women's prisons, but here we are.🤷‍♀️

And Labour would do much better especially as they can define what a woman is?

Women are over educated and should focus on having babies according to Cates' speech yesterday and according to Kruger women should stay in a marriage for the kids.

Is that what you mean?

Labour don’t want you to talk about that

No video of the conference speeches available.

Peter Walker produced this thread for anyone interested in a few of the discussion points -
Welcome to the National
Conservatism conference - aka NatCon London 2023. Despite speakers including Suella Braverman and Jacob Rees-Mogg, this isn’t a Tory party event. It’s a moveable annual gathering of low tax populist nationalism run by a US think tank.

BNOC · 16/05/2023 17:15

I think the line-up of speakers is a really interesting mix of people.

I hope that the conference will have an impact on the Conservative Party and make it a better alternative to Labour for socially conservative voters like me.

They are going to try and ban abortion arent they.

Given that the Tories have been in power for 13 years and the UK still has the most liberal abortion laws in Europe, I highly doubt it.

This is a good point.

There are differences between Labour and Cons when it comes to policies around immigration - although maybe not that much these days

But abortion is where we don’t align with US and Tories have been in for a while

Notonthestairs · 16/05/2023 17:22

Social conservative as in not a fan of childcare? Or no fault divorce? A need for the "normative family"?

They offer squat on key issues for the UK - housing, education, health service, public services or the economy.
It's a vapid dungheap of culture wars.
But i guess its awash with US money from their right wing backers so I suppose some people might find that attractive.

BNOC · 16/05/2023 17:31

@Notonthestairs I would like to see more support for SAHPs, yes.

I don’t see no-fault divorce as progress.

But your sneering tone doesn’t suggest that you actually want to discuss these things.

The mental gymnastics people will go through to continue to vote for this shower is amazing.

Vote Tory, vote Nat-C.

So completely the same policies in your view?

SunnyEgg · 16/05/2023 17:44

I know people love Labour / Starmer but at least look at the actual policies

Yeah, instead vote for the party that wants to end sex based rights, claims not to know what a woman is, but have made damn sure never to have one lead them and currently has a leader so fucking thick, he thinks a man can grow a cervix.
Vote for the party who introduced the GRA because they were too cowardly and backwards to introduce same sex marriage, but made sure when writing the GRA, to protect privileged men above all else and their entitlement to peerages. That’s progress people 👍

newnamethanks · 16/05/2023 17:46

Both of the nutters groups profess a Christian ethos don't they? Here's a quote "by their friends ye shall know them". And many of us do just that.q

dontlookbackyourenotgoingthatway · 16/05/2023 17:46

@SunnyEgg

So you're fine with senior members of the ruling party (including the Home Secretary) endorsing this, as long as they do it privately?

Make sure you chalk up your hands before your next leap

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 16/05/2023 17:47

By all means discuss away @BNOC.

For the record my views are that divorces will happen in any event. Making them harder and more adversarial only adds pressures and costs, it doesn't stop the deterioration of the relationship. Neither of which benefit children.

As for incentivising women to stay at home to look after their own - how is that even economically feasible when the costs of housing and life are so extraordinarily high?

I don’t love what Labour are doing, do you?

I’ll look at policies not off shoots

What’s with the hysterical thread? What’s your concern? What have the Tories managed to do so far that they promised? Name one thing.
