Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

I’m a republican
And I agree the logo is mean-spirited.
I haven’t seen another logo like it anywhere, on any other platform.

No, because most have received the memo that body shaming is a no-go these days.

CheriseNuland · 06/05/2023 10:21

It’s gone.

Qilin · 06/05/2023 10:27

It's been taken down it would seem

Great news! We can all get on with being lovely and kind now.

Confused
AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 10:53

So the Royalists lobbying worked.

MissHavershamReturns · 06/05/2023 10:54

I complained about it and I’m a republican. You don’t have to be a royalist to dislike rudeness based on appearance. We are constantly teaching ds 1 and 2 not to do that, while also saying we don’t believe in a hereditary ruler.

Catsmere · 06/05/2023 10:55

About bloody time they got rid of it!

Maybe not all royalists just people not keen on mockery of physical characteristics

Only a few posters who prefer the option

ShimmeringShirts · 06/05/2023 11:11

@determinedtomakethiswork not at his age no, and neither me nor him should even have to consider it. There is nothing wrong with DS’s ears, there is everything wrong with people that think it’s ok to make him feel less than as a person though.

AdaBrady · 06/05/2023 11:12

I see MN made a poor attempt to defend themselves on another thread, referencing how making fun of the rich is a good thing.

You might all remember that the next time you’re wrapped on the knuckles for posting about Eddie Izzard or Meghan Markle or even Justine Roberts.

Agreed. I'm a full blown republican. I just thought it was crass and bizarre to focus on his ears.

That what MN is now. A far cry from the original middle class reputation it had. The bullying on here of people who have dared educate themselves and earn a decent wage is disgusting. They must’ve had help or born fortunate. God forbid they worked hard and fought against circumstance to better themselves. It’s easy to tell them to shut up serfs - pay 100% tax so we can have our benefits; you owe us as you’re rich. Vile place.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 06/05/2023 11:19

Daft decisions like this really show how downhill things have gone on mumsnet now

I first joined 7 years ago when pregnant with my first, and the support and laughs were plentiful. Lately it's become such a different atmosphere and the moderators and those making choices like this logo are just not the good people they used to be.

Sad to see the demise of a once cool site.

Inthesamesinkingboat · 06/05/2023 11:21

It is nasty, and unnecessary. Just do the crown.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 11:21

It is the opposite. MN has become full of pretty staid conservative with a small c posters who are pretty accepting of the status quo. They post threads like why should the government rescue British citizens from Sudan and why should people be allowed to protest.
It is very depressing.

SophieJo · 06/05/2023 11:39

it was a real error of judgement. I was very surprised the administrators should even think it acceptable whatever they may feel about the event.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 11:41

MNHQ error of judgement was under estimating how vociferous the Royalists would be on MN.

MissHavershamReturns · 06/05/2023 11:42

Not a royalist. Still think it’s grim

Ms Roberts needs to hand back her OBE but of course she won't. Happy to take then mock. shame behaviour.

"Hand back her OBE?!?!" Because of a logo?! Behave!!!!! 🤣

You keep using royalist as an excuse for mocking physical characteristics

Not sure why

Not a royalist - it was poor taste.
