Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?
OP posts:

I agree, OP, I think it's in very poor taste.

They should have used the picture of the sign in tesco saying celebrate the kings coronation, next to the tampax..

That was a belter

No issue with that - it’s mocking something he said in the past, not his physical appearance.

Spendonsend · 06/05/2023 08:56

It is body shaming. I was teased mercilessly about my ears growing up and it really affected by confidence.

OneLittleFinger · 06/05/2023 08:56

Would have been better to do nothing as Google has (though I'm disappointed they've not marked the occasion as they' could have done something brilliant).

lljkk · 06/05/2023 09:08

This thread & others like it are continued proof that MNers have lost sense of humour, especially the cheeky SOH this site used to be famous for. Shame.

Finding the logo offensive only makes sense if you think KC's ears look bad; you all must share a prejudice that his ears aren't nice. Bigger Shame.

Fofftwenty21 · 06/05/2023 09:08

There's plenty of worse things to say about the royals.

HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:09

It's a left leaning site

Ollifer · 06/05/2023 09:09

Already posted on the thread in site stuff about this but it doesn't look like @mnhq are responding.

And to those posters saying they don't think Charles would mind?! This isn't even about Mumsnet insulting Charles. This is about everyone who is or has been bullied for their appearance. Even my 6 year old knows not to comment negatively on someone's appearance ffs.

I don't give a shit if they are poking fun at the King or whoever it is - this is wrong and should be removed. Ridiculously immature, hypocritical and in very bad taste for a site that is supposedly against bullying.

Mumsnet - get a hold of yourselves ffs

HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:10

@Ollifer totally agree.

In context like spitting image it's funny.

ImAGoodPerson · 06/05/2023 09:10

It's awful. Surely we have moved on from mocking peoples personal appearance FFS.

HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:10

But... It's a left leaning site.

FangsForTheMemory · 06/05/2023 09:12

I doubt he’d give a flying fuck. The opinion of ordinary people doesn’t matter to him.

Geordie01 · 06/05/2023 09:12

I thought it was a Corgi till I saw the zoomed in image.

Taking the piss out of anyone’s appearance is a low blow

Of course there are. People say them on here all the time.
It's about the site logo.

Willmafrockfit · 06/05/2023 09:13

even on the post box toppers they have given him big ears

Charles’s ears have been a source of his mockery his entire life, that’s what’s driving the thread. The personal opinions of posters regarding his ears has nothing to do with what people think of the logo.

If this sort of mockery and humour is allowed, then that’s fine, at least we know where we stand, but guaranteed MNHQ will continue to police such threads with their usual zealotry when it suits them.

Ask MNHQ how many threads about Eddie Izzard that have been removed for “not in the spirit” and explain the difference.

But... it's not meant to be a cuntish bullying leaning site

I doubt he’d give a flying fuck. The opinion of ordinary people doesn’t matter to him.

It's not an opinion of him as a man or a head of state. It's about his ears. Different.

ShimmeringShirts · 06/05/2023 09:14

Said it on a previous thread but DS has been bullied constantly at school for his ears, they’re a bit larger and stick out. He’s only 12 and keeps asking me if a doctor will “fix” them, has got it into his head that’s all anyone will ever notice about him. MN can get to fuck with their nasty bullying logo.

StylishM · 06/05/2023 09:15

@MMHQ maybe respond?!

determinedtomakethiswork · 06/05/2023 09:17

@ShimmeringShirts would you consider surgery for your son?

DrySherry · 06/05/2023 09:17

I don't find it either offensive or funny. It just highlights the childlike level of MNHQ, I laughed a bit at them rather than the logo.

Moveoverdarlin · 06/05/2023 09:17

It’s offensive in my opinion.

lightand · 06/05/2023 09:17

I dont normally comment on posts that have hundreds of comments previously. But I will on this occasion. To add to the calls of how bad it is.

I didn’t say it was an opinion of him. Don’t project you on thoughts on to me.
