Ordered expensive parcel from Amazon we was home today but delivery driver delivered to opposite neighbour by mistake. Photo (more a map of where parcel is rather than actual photo)shows parcel at neighbours house but neighbour saying they don’t have it. Asked for refund from Amazon but anything more I can do.

Do you know your neighbours? Are the trustworthy?

drpet49 · 01/05/2023 19:47

Now you know your neighbour is not trustworthy and is a liar. Let Amazon deal with it, you’ll get your item in the end.

Know them to say hi to only if we see them but in general keep ourselves to ourselves so don’t know much about them

Tell the neighbour you will inform the police of the theft

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 19:48

I did say photo map says it’s here but they denied it saying I’m not a liar and shut door in our face 😳

Up to amazon to make sure the item is delivered to you or as instructed on your safe place preferences

ApolloandDaphne · 01/05/2023 19:49

Have you tried other neighbours? I wouldn't be accusing them of theft if you are not certain they ever had the parcel.

Vallmo47 · 01/05/2023 19:50

Nope, but don’t worry Op, Amazon has always replaced things for me. They dump parcels outside constantly and hope for the best. It’s annoying but there you go. Also, don’t accuse neighbour of anything …. The amount of parcels dumped outside that get stolen. It might have nothing to do with them at all. I’ve even had delivery drivers claim to deliver it to mine with me watching the truck speed past on the road. Most drivers are trustworthy, most neighbours are trustworthy. But you paid for a service and didn’t receive your item so they will have to replace it pronto.

Motnight · 01/05/2023 19:51

I don't think that you can be certain that the neighbour has stolen your parcel.

Oysterbabe · 01/05/2023 19:52

Amazon will refund. Their customer service is generally excellent. Get on a live chat with them.

Desperatelyseekingcommonsense · 01/05/2023 19:54

My neighbours once arrived on the doorstep to claim a parcel I knew nothing about. I hadn’t been in at the delivery time. I found it about 2 weeks later in the greenhouse. It was a massive box too.

Id contact Amazon and have them clarify exactly where it was left.

VisionsOfSplendour · 01/05/2023 19:55

Are you thinking that the neighbour somehow knows it's an expensive item and is stealing it?

Without a photo I don't think you can prove they have it can you? As others have said report it to Amazon

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 19:57

Yes tried other neighbours & next door neighbours but photo map shows Amazon parcel is at his house

Get on live chat with amazon. They and the delivery driver will sort it out between them. You don't need to say your neighbour has it, as you can't be sure. Just explain that it wasn't delivered or accepted at your address.

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 20:01

Yes I did contact Amazon so waiting for them to sort it out for us

If it was that expensive did it have a code you're supposed to give the driver when they deliver it? It may also be at a different neighbour - they could have knocked the 1st neighbour and got no answer, and gone to another an not updated the map. Not that the maps are hugely accurate anyway. Or it could be in their wheelie bin or something and they have no idea.

Looked in wheelie bins and driveways as well as ours no sign of it

I've had many many Amazon parcels show as delivered when they haven't been. Usually it's because the driver has prematurely marked it as "delivered", and it actually turns up the next day. Sometimes they leave it in an unsuitable place (our house opens onto the street - we've had parcels left in the bin on bin day, for instance)and when I've contacted Amazon they have every time without fail refunded or replaced the item.

Oopswediditagain2023 · 01/05/2023 20:11

We've had loads with Amazon where they say it's been delivered and it hasn't been and then it arrives the next day. Must happen twice a year to us. Also the maps aren't accurate at all - it shows our house as being at the opposite end of the road!
It's up to Amazon to sort it and definitely don't accuse your neighbour of being a thief!!

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 20:14

Just to clarify Amazon sent it to their house by mistake and sent us a very clear map stating it’s at their house and they denied it.

No, OP doesn't know that.

'Map of where the parcel is' is not necessarily accurate.

You're correct that Amazon, and not the neighbour, is OP's point of contact.

Whitewolf2 · 01/05/2023 20:17

Yesterday I got home to find an Amazon parcel on my doorstep - for our neighbour!
Ridiculous as anyone could have taken it and then our neighbour could have thought we’d stolen it! So don’t rely on Amazon to have actually delivered it anywhere.

Summerscoming23 · 01/05/2023 20:17

Nothing you can do about neighbour, contact amazon. They're great at refunds
