Amazon delivered expensive parcel to opposite neighbour but neighbour saying they don’t have it

Ordered expensive parcel from Amazon we was home today but delivery driver delivered to opposite neighbour by mistake. Photo (more a map of where parcel is rather than actual photo)shows parcel at neighbours house but neighbour saying they don’t have it. Asked for refund from Amazon but anything more I can do.

She didn’t, she was asking if they have their parcel (which they do). If this happened to me I’d look all around my front garden with them trying to find it.

How do you know they have it?

ily0xx · 02/05/2023 21:48

Do you order from Amazon? They are very reliable with this sort of thing.

i order extremely regularly from Amazon. Once, I was told the parcel was at my next door neighbour’s house. It wasn’t, it was actually delivered to me the following day. Another time I was sent a picture of my parcel which has been left by my back gate. Except it wasn’t my back gate. I traced it on our local Facebook page.

PocketfullOfMiracles · 02/05/2023 22:36

I had a really good fall out with them a while back. I have a longish drive, to walk from road to front door is probably 20 seconds. They don’t like this.
Rather than walking up drivers started leaving parcels propped against the front gate in the street. How none were stolen is more luck than anything. I emailed and complained and nothing changed at all.

The final straw was a parcel left on the grass verge in the street in the rain. I went back to Amazon and told them where the parcel was, said as far as I was concerned it was not delivered and unfortunately any parcels left anywhere outside my property will be marked as not delivered going forwards. This seemed to spark something, communication was had with the local depot and suddenly it stopped.

My delivery instructions could not have been clearer. They just can’t be arsed.

I did say photo map says it’s here but they denied it saying I’m not a liar and shut door in our face 😳

So based on nothing more than a mark on a map you have accused your neighbour of stealing your parcel? Think I would slam the door in your face too.

Ok maybe I am relying on Amazon maps but in the past they’ve been quite accurate

In our area, in the States, Amazon usually sends an email with a link to a picture of the landing with the parcel. So, it's pretty easy to see if it was left here or elsewhere.

Tell the neighbour you will inform the police of the theft

Why? They might not have it. To me the fault is with Amazon and for them to rectify

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 01/05/2023 19:47

Tell the neighbour you will inform the police of the theft

I would NOT do that.

Neighbours may have taken it (or it may have been taken from their doorstep by an opportunistic thief) but there is no real proof, and you could end up with a really irate person living just across the road from you and things can escalate. Much nicer to live in a community where the people around you are polite.

Amazon will sort it.

Aposterhasnoname · 03/05/2023 05:40

The maps can be wrong. I’ve had them showing clearly it’s been delivered to neighbour a, when in fact it’s with neighbour b. Not surprised they shut the door in your face if you marched over accusing them of theft. Calm down. Amazon will sort it out.

Amazon drivers are getting on a par with Evri where I live.

Last summer, I was tidying my front garden and window boxes. It was a beautiful sunny day and I knew I had a delivery coming from Amazon so thought I could grab it whilst gardening.

Van pulls up just as my phone pings to say it's one stop away.

Out the driver gets, with parcel in hand, and knocks opposite. So I thought, maybe it's not mine then or he has one for them and for me. Except it now changed on my phone to delivered.

Except he's still across the street hammering on their door. So I called over and said "would you like me to take it for you, I can give them it later?" Very polite to him.
He marches over, red faced and angry, starts shouting about it's for (my number) and they're being effing ignorant cos he can hear the effing TV.

I said, actually, that's my house number. He argues with me that why am I in this garden ignoring him knocking on my door. The guy was a bodybuilder type, he was getting so angry I felt quite uncomfortable. So I said "no, I meant you are knocking on the wrong door, this is number x, not that one, that's number y"

He throws the parcel at me over the wall, and storms off, swearing as he went.

Usually, when it's warm I would've offered a can of drink but well, no chance there.

Happy to say I contacted amazon- I don't like to as they're paid shite wages - but he was so rude and aggressive when he was in the wrong that I felt it needed reporting. Amazon were great and gave me a gift card to apologize.

nomoredrivingytu · 03/05/2023 06:20

@ily0xx no slamming was involved, you've made that up.

However, they shut the door in OPs face, imagine this scenario...

OP Hi, you've got my expensive Amazon package

NDN Sorry, no package here

OP. Well Amazon on this silly little map thing say it's here

NDN. Well we've not got a package

OP. Well Amazon have be mistake ;(so already proving they've made a mistake and are useless) say it's here.

NDN. Well if you've been in and Amazon can't even get the door number right, what makes you think they've got the map right?

OP. Well they say they've delivered it here.

ND. Well they've haven't, goodbye and door closed.

What would you do different if you were the neighbour? Why does that look like they're guilty?

Yes, it's the 5th word in the OP

Toocooltoboogie · 03/05/2023 06:24

Amazon maps are not accurate. I wouldn't accuse a neighbour of stealing based on that info. No wonder they shut the door in your face!

DieLemma · 03/05/2023 08:20

We’ve had a few parcels from Amazon marked as delivered but we’ve not received them then the driver has turned up the following day and actually delivered them!

Quite telling that really. They wanted to end the conversation rather than help you look.

Also how do you know her neighbour has the parcel ?

Why should they help to look for parcel which has nothing to do with them...

hotdiggetydog · 03/05/2023 16:52

See the help your neighbour ethos that we all were well into in the pandemic has totally drained from your then. What ever happened to just being nice

Were you there to see how nice" OP was when she was insisting they had a parcel that they didn't. As she said she keeps herself to herself aka miserable fucker!

I don't land the neighbour and the #bekind mantra was bullsjit!

nomoredrivingytu · 03/05/2023 18:19

*i don't blame the neighbour

FleshLiabilities · 04/05/2023 12:52

Hi OP, did you ever find the parcel?

Stewball01 · 04/05/2023 14:00

@Oopswediditagain2023

I agree wholeheartedly with you. Let amazon deal with it and do NOT say the neighbour stole it. You'll find yourself in the middle of a court case.

Mgi4243765 · 07/05/2023 10:30

Show the neighbour the photo.. tell them Amazon are investigating and have a new Frau policy where they can track the parcel! And watch their bin they have to dispose of the packaging
