Amazon delivered expensive parcel to opposite neighbour but neighbour saying they don’t have it

Ordered expensive parcel from Amazon we was home today but delivery driver delivered to opposite neighbour by mistake. Photo (more a map of where parcel is rather than actual photo)shows parcel at neighbours house but neighbour saying they don’t have it. Asked for refund from Amazon but anything more I can do.

How do you know they sent it to your neighbours? Maps can be off.

Contact Amazon. Tell them you’ve not received it and they will deal with it.

poetryandwine · 01/05/2023 20:20

Your replies sound like you are consistently relying on the Amazon map, OP. Others have said why it isn’t always valid. Just let Amazon sort it out.

Namechange1345677 · 01/05/2023 20:21

Those maps are not accurate. I've had parcels delivered that show as half way down the road!

CoozudBoyuPuak · 01/05/2023 20:24

You don't need to do anything.
Your parcel hasn't been delivered to you so it's still the vendor's responsibility.
Your neighbour is lying, and will be proven so eventually. Don't deal directly with your neighbour though, the dispute is between the vendor, whose responsibility the item is until it is in your possession, and your neighbour who accepted custody of the item. You should deal only with the vendor. They should send you a replacement item or refund you, and they will then separately deal with your neighbour in a dispute that is none of your concern. There is no need for a scene and no need for you to do the emotional labour here. Just insist on your replacement/refund for the missing item.

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 20:24

Ok maybe I am relying on Amazon maps but in the past they’ve been quite accurate

The Amazon maps are awful. I’ve had a neighbour knocking for a parcel I didn’t have (the map said it was at my house). About two days later a neighbour over the road knocked on their door, because no one had been to collect it yet.

Now you know your neighbour is not trustworthy and is a liar. Let Amazon deal with it, you’ll get your item in the end.

Or the delivery person is pulling a fast one.

DanceMonster · 01/05/2023 20:27

I’d believe my neighbour over the inaccurate Amazon maps to be honest. And if I was your neighbour and had been accused of lying when I wasn’t, I’d be absolutely livid.

Backtothegym · 01/05/2023 20:28

That’s not right, they need to take photos. No photo and I’d say rhe driver is lying. I have no idea what a photo map is though.

plus if it’s expensive they ask for a code now?

towriteyoumustlive · 01/05/2023 20:28

The photomap is irrelevant.

Is there an actual photo of it being handed over to them?

Assuming you didn't agree any safe place then the parcel is the responsibility of amazon until it is delivered to YOU.

How did you pay?

nofusspot · 01/05/2023 20:31

You cannot trust the map.

TokenGinger · 01/05/2023 20:31

Have you logged into your account to see the notes left by the driver? When mine says left with neighbour on the email, I log in and it gives me further details of what the delivery driver has typed in rather than the automated option on the email. They usually write the house number in there.

fantasyhomesbythesea · 01/05/2023 20:32

I don't believe the photo map is proof of anything. It's just the driver saying this is the (approximate) location. It is not actual evidence unless there is a photo of the parcel in the doorway of that property. I wouldn't accuse neighbor based on this or assume they are lying

Notes left by driver just shows photo map of parcel left at his house

I literally watched an Amazon driver deliver to a neighbour (didn’t knock the door) then walk off with the bigger of two parcels. A very expensive screen. All caught on CCTV. Initially Amazon were all for blaming the neighbour until I said we had it on camera.

Snowjokes · 01/05/2023 20:37

Live chat with Amazon. Your contract is with them to deliver the item to you, so this is their problem. Be polite but insistent if you need to, they’re good at replacing or refunding.

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 20:37

Either way hope Amazon just refund me

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 01/05/2023 20:37

I've stopped getting stuff delivered at home now as I don't want it to 'disappear' at a neighbours or be left in a bin. I always pick up from Amazon Lockers now, much less stressful.

TrishTrix · 01/05/2023 20:38

I've got CCTV footage of a courier staging a photo outside my house then removing the parcel.

The tracking showed it outside.

It was outside.

But then the courier stole it.

Yodel btw. They have been useless at dealing with it.

MaltedCow · 01/05/2023 20:38

Amazon may have left it on their doorstep and someone else has lifted it, I wouldn't jump to assuming they were untrustworthy or lying I'd take it up with Amazon who will hopefully resend.

Queeniewag · 01/05/2023 20:38

Yep as PP said go on live chat with Amazon. Been on today myself today and issue was sorted in two minutes. Their customer services is brilliant.

LeggyLinda · 01/05/2023 20:41

I wouldn’t be so quick to accuse neighbours of anything underhand.
our local Facebook group is full of posts where parcel is claimed to be delivered to X and photo is clearly of some unknown Y.
if you only have a map image it’s only going to be less clear.
This is amazon’s responsibility and the fault of the delivery company.
ive had no problems with dealing with Amazon in cases like this (though been relatively lucky) and neither had anyone else I know.
i wouldn’t worry. You’ve done the right thing and I’m sure it’ll get sorted

Chopbob · 01/05/2023 20:42

No wonder they closed the door in your face! You're convinced they have it...they probably don't. Hopefully you get your money back from Amazon and you can stop harassing your neighbours.

Hayliebells · 01/05/2023 20:44

Amazon deliveries must go missing all the time. Our parcels routinely just get left on the doorstep, they don't necessarily always ring the doorbell, they certainly don't wait for the door to be answered. Our neighbours Ring doorbell filmed someone nicking a parcel off their doorstep. Amazon mustn't really care, or they'd make sure their parcels are actually delivered. I wouldn't spend any more time worrying about it, or trying to track down the parcel. It's on Amazon to prove it was delivered (which is why some delivery companies take photos of the parcel being received), and they can't, so you'll just get a replacement. I'd be tempted to ask them to deliver it to an Amazon locker or a corner shop though, just so you aren't in danger of going through all this for a second time.

Backtothegym · 01/05/2023 20:45

The neighbours don’t have if for goodness sake. They take a photo of it when it’s left. Your poor neighbours.
