Amazon delivered expensive parcel to opposite neighbour but neighbour saying they don’t have it

Ordered expensive parcel from Amazon we was home today but delivery driver delivered to opposite neighbour by mistake. Photo (more a map of where parcel is rather than actual photo)shows parcel at neighbours house but neighbour saying they don’t have it. Asked for refund from Amazon but anything more I can do.

Our Amazon map pic showed very clearly that the parcel that had been handed to the resident, was at our house. It wasn't. I was at home, watched him pull up just past the end of my drive, and walk over to next door but one. They were in too, so came as quite a shock when the driver didn't even open the gate, but launched our parcel over the fence at them.

So the map pics can be wrong. Customer service sent us a replacement as the plate in the parcel didn't survive.

Azerothi · 01/05/2023 21:41

Genuinely, you need to stop thinking about the map and where your parcel is or isn't.

The facts are Amazon failed to deliver it to you, everything else is utterly irrelevant.

Stressyfab · 01/05/2023 21:47

My parcel was delivered to the receptionist behind my wheelie bin yesterday, I don’t trust their tracking at all! Don’t worry, I’ve heard they’re good at sorting these things.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 01/05/2023 21:47

What do you mean what else can you do? Wait until Amazon refund you and then buy the item again. From somewhere else if you desire. This is just something that happens sometimes.

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 20:01

Yes I did contact Amazon so waiting for them to sort it out for us

Then just wait for them to sort it

I get parcels left on my doorstep from Amazon all the time, as in at least once a week, often more they don’t ring or knock just dump them and run and I find them randomly when I go outside.

They’re not for my house.

Yeah what's with that? Why do they just think ahhh this one will do?

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 01/05/2023 22:01

The map isn't always accurate so I wouldn't necessarily disbelieve your neighbours. Go through the Amazon process and they'll either refund or send you a replacement.

GG1986 · 01/05/2023 22:06

Does anyone on your street have cctv? That will show exactly where it was delivered and if someone opened the door and took it inside.

Lizzt2007 · 01/05/2023 22:08

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 19:48

I did say photo map says it’s here but they denied it saying I’m not a liar and shut door in our face 😳

The photo map shows it's been delivered to their house, it doesn't show it's been handed to them. If Amazon have put it in a 'safe place' then the neighbour wouldnt have a clue as they won't have got any notifications.

Goodoccasionallypoor · 01/05/2023 22:13

On balance, I'd say the driver nicked it.

RobinaHood · 01/05/2023 22:16

I wouldn't be accusing your neighbour.
In the last few months, Amazon told us that a neighbour signed for one of our parcels. Actually the delivery man had left it in a different building under a set of stairs.
They told a neighbour someone had signed for their parcel but actually the delivery driver left it in a shed.
And they said they'd handed the parcel to me - they'd thrown it over the fence into my neighbour's garden.

Plethoraofwoo · 01/05/2023 22:20

They dump parcels outside constantly and hope for the best

Do you realise the drivers are financially penalised if a parcel they deliver goes missing? There are Amazon lockers available if people aren’t going to be in, why order something and then not be home for the delivery?

Deadpalm · 01/05/2023 22:21

The maps are not accurate as others said. By photo map I assume you mean screenshot from the gps map.
I had apparently something delivered based on map. Unless there is pic of door I think it's bullshitting. The only lost parcel, funny the only one without pic

ejbaxa · 01/05/2023 22:22

Let Amazon deal with it - what is expensive to us as individuals isn't necessarily expensive to them. If they consider something expensive, they send you a code and then you have to quote the code to the driver in order to receive your parcel. I don't know what the threshold is for that, but what I bought to need a code was a £400 piece of tech at christmas.

Booklover40 · 01/05/2023 22:23

I once had a neighbour a few doors down (whom I don't know) come round and tell me a parcel had been left with me. I hadn't received any parcel nor had anyone in the house (I was home alone anyway).
He then proceeded to show me something on his phone with a name that was similar to mine, but wasn't mine. I told him that it wasn't my name, although it sounded similar (I didn't tell him my actual name as I was feeling a bit weirded out by this point) but he seemed insistent the parcel had been left with me and was trying to look around me into the house!!

Im not sure whether someone else had received it and given my name (and got it wrong!) as a cover up or whether this neighbour was just a weirdo who was trying to find out my name in order to look me up on social media (there has been other strange behaviour from these neighbours)

So all I'm saying Op is, they may well be telling the truth and don't have it. Mistakes happen and you can't go accusing people of lying. Amazon will refund you.

Beautiful3 · 01/05/2023 22:30

Once a courier told my neighbour I had his parcel. I didn't. They had a photograph of my front door, so it must have been true! The next day they redelivered to them. Turns out they wanted to show it was delivered, to meet deadlines, in order to get paid. Then redelivered the next day. It was an awkward situation between us, I don't like them now.

Startyabastard · 01/05/2023 22:51

Bastards.

WandaWonder · 01/05/2023 22:53

Unless you have proof it is them no i would accuse them or assume it is

Safarigiraffe · 01/05/2023 22:55

Messaged Amazon to say I want a replacement for next day delivery and told them not to leave with no neighbours and to leave in a safe place waiting to hear from them Tom morning

If it was that expensive did it have a code you're supposed to give the driver when they deliver it? It may also be at a different neighbour - they could have knocked the 1st neighbour and got no answer, and gone to another an not updated the map. Not that the maps are hugely accurate anyway. Or it could be in their wheelie bin or something and they have no idea.

that doesn’t help. We had a delivery driver know the time had a code. The box had been slit underneath and replaced with a £5 item. So I did the code thing and got shit. Amazon sent a new one out straight away when I offered the doorbell footage to go to the police. Second item also sent a code but delivery driver didn’t ask for it.
Code only stops it going to a neighbour supposedly.

Have it delivered to a locker if you’re consistently planning on not being home to receive your expensive parcel 🙄

I am always in my house working and can answer the door. The delivery drivers do not know if I ma in or not and just leave the parcel on the doorstep, some don’t even ring the bell!

Not really the best move if you've already had one go missing.

Hawkins003 · 01/05/2023 23:13

All the best op

Well this is the first time I’ve had a issue with them
