How do I get fully vaccinated and is it still necessary for travel to US?

I had 1 vaccine in December 2021 and then didn’t get my second dose so technically not fully vaccinated although had Covid several times now.

I have just booked Florida and now realised I need to be fully vaccinated (I think).

question is if I get my next dose will I still be fully vaccinated even though it was over a year ago my first dose?

do doctors and nurses still give out the second dose?

Many places are starting their spring boosters for over 75 so will be very busy, check your local health board website/Facebook page it’ll tell you if you’ll get vaccinated and perhaps check the criteria for getting into Florida, I would’ve done that prior to booking mind you, just in case.

Make an appointment with your local vaccination centre they can answer all your questions, usually nurse lead clinics.

Yeah best to ensure you’re fully vaccinated I’m afraid, as the entry rules to USA still require it if you are over 17.

First qnd second doses stopping soon or maybe have done already. Why didn't you get it done at the time?

I don't understand why you are happy to have the jabs now to go to Florida but weren't fussed about having them to protect yourself and your loved ones at the height of the pandemic but i suppose there are priorities.

You don't say when you are travelling to Florida but the USA was expected to change entry requirements in Jan, but then extended them for three months to April. So keep an eye out and there may be an announcement soon that they're dropping the requirement to be vaccinated. Canada doesn't have any vaccine requirements and they're usually more cautious than USA so I'm surprised it's still in place.

If you do need to get the second jab, you can put your details into the vaccine page online and it will tell you if you're eligible or if anywhere near you is doing walk in jabs. I know boosters were officially stopped in Feb, but not sure about 2nd doses.

As far as I understand it you just need to show two doses. We’re going in July and my DD23 has only had one dose so far because when she was due to get her second dose she got covid. That’s reminded me to check if she has booked her appointment.

I never wanted any vaccines and would delayed as long as I could. I got roped into my first dose almost two years after the pandemic started as my doctor pressured me and it felt like I would have no freedom unless I did. Costa coffee etc has said they were asking for proof. I had already had covid and survived. I wasn’t getting a vaccine which was so new unless I really really had to. And yes my freedom is my priority when my health had already survived.

In simple terms it doesn't stop you getting it but it does make it weaker and therefore if you still pass it on while vaccinated it is not as strong. Your understanding is incorrect. People believe the facts yes and some people believe garbage unfortunately yes. There are no words for the fact that after all that you are now fully up for having it just so you can go on holiday 🙄

USA looks set to drop all vaccination requirements by the end of the month according to most sources. You’ll be fine.

All I see is lots of vaccinated individuals getting really awful covid and long covid. Those who aren’t vaccinated that I know are not. I’m vaccinated and feel like I was fooled. Politicians profiting from pharma deals.
Watched two doctors agreeing the other night that it shouldn’t have ever been given to pregnant women.
Pure herd mentality and it continues which really surprises me

I’m going to the states next month and have to sign a declaration to say I am fully vaccinated.

The vaccine lessens the severity of the symptoms and reduces the likelihood of you needing hospital care.

Of those patients requiring hospital care (patients are still being admitted to hospital for Covid complications), a much higher proportion relates to the unvaccinated.

Not anymore no, not after the health issues my 3rd one caused.

I just felt like I had a bad virus when I got it as I had been fully vaccinated. Friend who wasn’t vaccinated was really ill with it. My mother still heads out and about, she didn’t understand lockdown and I tried to explain and encourage her not to go to the supermarket (she goes on a Saturday despite being retired and having all week then complains it’s busy). She still hadn’t had it. Mil was still seeing her friends etc…again hasn’t had it.

This is not true. However, having the vaccine makes you less likely to get COVID and therefore less likely to pass it on.
