How do I get fully vaccinated and is it still necessary for travel to US?

I had 1 vaccine in December 2021 and then didn’t get my second dose so technically not fully vaccinated although had Covid several times now.

I have just booked Florida and now realised I need to be fully vaccinated (I think).

question is if I get my next dose will I still be fully vaccinated even though it was over a year ago my first dose?

do doctors and nurses still give out the second dose?

oh just read Switzerland have banned all covid jabs. Can only be given in extenuating circumstances and the Dr administering to have personal liability for anything that goes wrong...

Switzerland are still giving the vaccine after individual medical consultation. If a wave of infection were to emerge in spring/summer 2023, the vaccination recommendation would be adjusted.

I’ve administered hundreds of Covid vaccines - I’m not worried someone is going to come after me for doing so.

This is a lie. Switzerland is not having a Spring vaccination campaign. They have not banned the vaccines.

We went to to Florida last July and were all fully vaccinated.

We printed out all our passes, and the apps on our phone and were ready to show them when needed.

We weren't ever asked to show anything.

GaladrielHiggins · 10/04/2023 14:43

We’ve just come back from America and we’re asked for Covid passes at check in both sides, uploaded online before the flight and printed copies at the airport

Making fun? Er no. Just incredulous that people allow themselves to be used as pin cushions in this manner...

The people who have needed a lot of vaccines are those who would be much more likely to become far more ill, or worse, without some form of protection.

As I said, be grateful you have a healthy working immune system and aren't in the vulnerable position of some other people.

Fine - you don't want the vaccine. Don't have it.

But why the need to suggest that those who are happy to take the vaccines, and have suffered no ill effect from doing so, are wrong?

Surely if you are happy with your own decision you don't need to concern yourself with others making their own decisions for themselves?!

Oh and my experience of covid....both pre-vaccine (as I will never have that rubbish) is a mild cold. A mild cold. DH unvaccinated has never had it. Two kids unvaccinated. One was mildly ill for one morning. The other did feel rough for a few days.

I thank my lucky stars reading daily about the sudden deaths, the excess deaths, the miscarriages, the declining fertility, the injuries, that I saw good sense as did my family and stayed away from it.

Lucky you. My first dose of covid, pre vaccine, had me rushed to hospital via cat A ambulance with a very real risk of stroke of heart attack and has left me with a life long health condition requiring daily medication for life.

My second bout, after vaccines, was much milder and treated with anti virals very quickly, just incase the same happened.

My third bout, again after vaccines and boosters, was more like a normal virus - achy, tired, cough - but felt much better after a few days rest.no need for anti virals that time.

Due to my health I am more vulnerable to covid and also more likely to catch viruses. Due to my job I am in contact with viruses, inc covid, often. The vaccines help to restore the balance a bit for me.

The worse side effect I got from the vaccines has been an achy arm for the next day. 🤷‍♀️ Same for everyone I know, bar two people - they felt very tired and achy for a day but fine the next.

And I've been able to travel throughout due to vaccines, which is a massive bonus for me and my family as it's something we do a lot of. No restrictions for us.

We were in May in New York.
We also had to sign to say we'd had them for the airlines, these can be checked at any time to ensure people aren't lying. In some busy airports it's just dine as spot checks, not to everyone,

Coffeeko · 29/04/2023 21:05

Oooh interesting

does that mean we only need 1 dose? On or after august 2022 so will we be okay based on the fact we got our first dose in 2021

I don't understand why you are happy to have the jabs now to go to Florida but weren't fussed about having them to protect yourself and your loved ones at the height of the pandemic but i suppose there are priorities.

If your single dose was before August 2022 then no. They only accept a single dose of Pfizer or Moderna if given after 16 Aug 2022. Before then, it has to be 2 jabs to be considered fully vaccinated unless you specifically had a single jab vaccine (janssen, moderna bivalent or Pfizer bivalent).

Why would someone post something here that is not just untrue but also probably so?

Do you not realise that other people have access to the internet?

BritWifeInUSA · 30/04/2023 04:01

Unless you’re a US citizen, adults need to be vaccinated to come here.

Athinker · 30/04/2023 05:07

A senile president signed the order and simply forgot to rescind it. Nothing short of madness. If you were fully vaccinated 2 years ago, by now you have zero protection against covid - even according to the official line that the vaccine did offer some protection. Yet for USA travel purposes you're still considered vaccinated.

Which just goes to show how it was never about the science in the first place.

loulouljh · 30/04/2023 11:33

Never ever about the science..all in the money and the control.

Parker231 · 30/04/2023 11:49

Am surprised it’s not changing - it was the right thing to do during the pandemic but with the high levels of vaccination I thought the US would lift the restrictions.

how on earth did the jab protect others?!!

Loria · 30/04/2023 15:35

It's depressing to know that people this selfish are allowed to vote.

Dacadactyl · 30/04/2023 15:41

@theGooHasGone i think youll find plenty of people only had the vaccine to go abroad.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 02/05/2023 07:57

Thanks @ParParker231 for posting the update. I can now start planning our 2024 family "once in a lifetime" holiday to Florida 😊
