How do I get fully vaccinated and is it still necessary for travel to US?

Coffeeko · 03/04/2023 16:21

I had 1 vaccine in December 2021 and then didn’t get my second dose so technically not fully vaccinated although had Covid several times now.

I have just booked Florida and now realised I need to be fully vaccinated (I think).

question is if I get my next dose will I still be fully vaccinated even though it was over a year ago my first dose?

do doctors and nurses still give out the second dose?

Hi to all those who advised on the ESTA, we did it last night and it's been approved Smile thank you. Know for future to do before booking.

Yes of course you can get vaccinated. Pity you've had Covid so many times, maybe if you had been vaccinated earlier it might have protected you.

I always find comments like this strange and totally unnecessary. My co-workers, most of them quadruple jabbed have had covid so many times I've lost count. I haven't and I had it once for 2 days, never reinfected. So no, it does not protect you. Science even supports it now. Or are you saying Bill Gates is a liar because after he sold his shares. he openly came out and stated as much. Many videos if you look. Even the esteemed Dr Fauchi said this on record too. Science confirms the reduced risk from vaccination is negligible unless you are over a certain age. This is why they stopped offering it to children and the under 50s in this country. Go onto any published medical website for up-to-date data to adjust your perception of risk-benefit analysis.

What the USA requires is down to them. Slating people for not getting vaccinated is now frowned upon, considering the widely available statistic, we all have access to 3 years later.

If however, you need to travel to a country the promotes mandatory vaccines, then that's what you have to do to travel to that country. Simple.

My best friend Jabbed 3 times for her job, now has covid for the 4th time. The whole house are isolating as 3 of them, all jabbed have tested positive with symptoms. So please tell me how you still have such an outdated judgemental attitude towards those who probably have natural immunity. Perhaps you want to read the latest science on that too, now they have updated it to be as good as being vaccinated.

Why people love to pit vaccinated against unvaccinated (NOT anti-vax), I don't know. It helps no one. Looking at current research is much more beneficial. Especially studies done in countries other than the USA and the UK.

Thank you @TheWorldisGoingMad for injecting some much needed sanity to the I’m-still-washing-my-shopping covid cultist crowd.
Posts like ours would have been banned last year by this site, so let’s hope sanity is now prevailing.

I've never been vaccinated and never had covid plus I don't plan on going abroad any time soon. I'm not an anti vaxxer or a conspiracy theorist. I wanted to see how it'd pan out. From my personal experience everyone I know who has been fully vaccinated has been floored by covid multiple times. I'm not saying that's universal just my personal experience. For those I know who haven't been vaccinated and some are completely anti vax, lock down etc have had no covid symptoms or had covid. Admittedly I'm not saying that's everyone just those in my circle.

I never wanted any vaccines and would delayed as long as I could. I got roped into my first dose almost two years after the pandemic started as my doctor pressured me and it felt like I would have no freedom unless I did. Costa coffee etc has said they were asking for proof. I had already had covid and survived. I wasn’t getting a vaccine which was so new unless I really really had to. And yes my freedom is my priority when my health had already survived.

getti g the vaccine doesn’t stop you catching or spreading covid so how was I not protecting my loved ones….?

3 years later and people still believe this garbage.

YABU just for your general level of ignorance

Throughalookingglass · 06/04/2023 15:15

Hold off OP until the US release their updated criteria.

This first and second dose stuff and then boosters is all BS. It’s the same vaccine.

Wait OP and hopefully you won’t need it at all.

ReliantRobyn · 06/04/2023 15:16

OldSkoolLikeHappyShopper · 03/04/2023 23:39

The confusing thing about them keeping it going this long for entry into the US is that even if people had 3 jabs, according to the ‘science’ they would be no more protected now than unvaccinated people, as the argument at the time was that the effects lasted 3 months if I recall correctly, which is why people had to have booster after booster. So unless you’re in the vulnerable category and still having regular jabs, for most people whose last one was well over a year ago, surely they’re no better off being vaccinated?

So the thing is you recall wrong. Cool story tho.

Yes of course you can get vaccinated. Pity you've had Covid so many times, maybe if you had been vaccinated earlier it might have protected you.

By that rationale then everyone who has had covid several times hasn’t been “vaccinated” which is clearly not correct.

She isn’t really wrong. The guidelines kept changing depending on how vaccine was available to distribute to the next cohort. The so called guidelines all made up as it went along! Bordering countries then had different guidelines depending on their supply.

Breadcrumbsforall · 06/04/2023 15:20

You definitely need to be fully vaccinated at present to go to the US, unless you're under 18 (I think). We've recently had our paperwork checked on this both before travel and at the airport, so they are serious about this. It may be hard to get an appointment at the moment to get a jab because the spring wave of inoculations is about to start.

The medical evidence is that those who have had their vaccines are less likely to get severe symptoms and less likely to need hospital care.

RUBBISH !

very good counter argument there. Care to explain?

AgrathaChristie · 07/04/2023 07:34

There’s quite a small window for the Spring boosters I think.
Look here to book https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/covid-19-services/covid-19-vaccination-services/find-a-walk-in-covid-19-vaccination-site/

if there’s a centre local to you you can always go in and ask. If we have spare vaccine walk- ins are vaccinated, sometimes vaccinator sats come back tomorrow.
Ask your local pharmacy if they are doing boosters.

All I see is lots of vaccinated individuals getting really awful covid and long covid. Those who aren’t vaccinated that I know are not. I’m vaccinated and feel like I was fooled. Politicians profiting from pharma deals.
Watched two doctors agreeing the other night that it shouldn’t have ever been given to pregnant women.
Pure herd mentality and it continues which really surprises me

Funny isn't it? Yep, I'm unvaccinated and have had Covid twice. Both times it was a runny nose, very mild cold symptoms. Everyone I know who got it and was vaccinated, all had it way worse. I hear this all time too, from others.

Random stories don’t support the medical evidence. Vaccinated have less severe symptoms and less chance of needing hospital care.

So many people around me getting ill again and again...and I wonder what they have in common? It's too frequent not to notice this.

I don’t know anyone who has been ill. Have been lucky to avoid all the winter bugs.

loulouljh · 07/04/2023 12:30

@Parker231 you are lucky. Everyone's been talking in the office how there seems to be a rota of illness going on....
