This man (in red) has undergone no attempt to transition. Yet he's playing on women's GAA football teams in Ireland because he feels he's a woman.
Imagine him tackling a poor woman would have no chance. Prior to that he played women's rugby.
Why is this happening in women's sports, prisons, changing rooms, toilets.
Why are trans women's rights more important than ours.
This man (who is in no way a woman or even a trans woman) needs to play with a team where the rest of the players have penises too or else start his own trans league. Get out of women's sports & spaces.

This shit needs to end.

It’s misogyny in action, it’s proof that our society doesn’t give a damn about women’s rights and safety.

Twisted thinking pressurising ‘consent’ from women with the threat of violence, expulsion, losing their jobs, losing their reputation.

It’s unbelievable. But it’s happening.

I attend a ladies’ judo class. I went to a session a while ago where I got paired with a trans person. They were way bigger than I am and clearly had the power of a man and I ended up injured. Why were they allowed to attend and make me feel unsafe?

That's shocking. Surely they can set up a trans class or insist trans play on men's teams. Especially in contact sports. The spotlight is on this now so we as women need to try & sieze the moment & fight back.

It feels to me like the new way men can control women. We’ve become more powerful and independent, so now rather than crushing us, men want to be us. It’s conquering from within.

The backlash comes in many forms. Do they want to be 'us' though? Maybe their own warped version of femininity. Cherry picking the parts of gender that suit them. I don't mind people being whatever they want to be until it encroaches on someone else's rights, security, privacy and dignity.

The man in this article (no, not even a transwoman) is just pissing about.

Not for long I hope. I think all sports will go the same way as athletics - athletics have been brave and are trailblazing this new 'haven't gone through male puberty' standard. I think it's a great development. You can't argue with it.

The English schools teams were very quick to jump in behind the World Athletics federation & banned trans from competing on girls teams. I'll try to find a link. I'm Irish & we are no where near that stage yet but I'm so happy for all the English school girls & women.

I think I’ve seen this discussed before. It feels like this man is just taking the piss out of trans people. Nice to see MN drawing attention to it.

the office rage GIF

He's taking the piss out of trans people definitely.

But more importantly he is taking the piss out of women, taking the place of an actual woman on the team and has the potential to significantly harm any actual women he comes into contact with, What with him having gone through male puberty, and therefore having all the strength of a man that is in no way diminished by him claiming to now be a woman.

This whole thing about "I feel like a woman therefore I am one" is just bullshit.

It's privileged men taking what they want and fuck the women who are affected in any way.

But receiving 5, 10, even 20+ years of hormones, which are predominantly particular to women, does not have much affect on muscle mass, bone growth, etc if they were taken after a man has passed through puberty. Yes, it might help him to develope breasts, and not grow whiskers, but it won't make his penis drop off, or shorten his height, or lessen his hand span, and even if his penis did drop off, or it was surgically removed, he would probably still be bigger and stronger than even an Amazonian woman.

Stop being a ridiculous TERF.

Yeah that doesn't work as well as it used to. More people are realising what 'inclusion' really means - mens feelings prioritised over womens safety, dignity and wishes. No Thank You.

Bigot, transphobe.. Keep shouting! The tide is turning, the resistence & pushback is happening!
We can shout back womenphobes & women haters just as loudly.
As many organisations as possible need to jump on the bandwagon & stop these men infiltrating women's sports.

From the article in the OP...

Valentino, of medium height and slim build, said five years of hormone therapy had eroded any physical advantage and made her testosterone levels compliant with Olympic committee regulations.

From the IOC:

To compete in the female division as defined by current International Olympic Committee (IOC) regulations, a transgender woman athlete must agree to gender-affirming hormone therapy to lower, and then maintain, testosterone levels to below 10 nmol/L for one year

Normal testosterone levels in women:

Testosterone levels between 0.29-1.67nmol/L are normal for women under the age of 50, with over 50s having slightly lower levels at 0.101-1.42nmol/L.

So this player has had the advantage of male puberty and continues to have the advantage of significantly higher testosterone levels.

He’s a man.. no debate needed

ImAGoodPerson · 24/03/2023 09:14

I agree that sport should be split by sex, given that it is impossible to change sex (regardless of surgery, hormones etc) then it is split male and female.

This makes me so angry TBH. I couldn't give a shit what gender people wish to be, I will always respect their wishes regarding pronouns etc but I will never believe that that are actually the opposite sex as it is not possible.

possomblossom · 24/03/2023 09:15

Saw a joke recently:
I'm curvy (insert preferred adjective),
But I identify as slim.
I'm trans-slender...

Made me laugh....

Is there any chance this is just a wind up?

I don’t know but I feel there have been a couple of examples recently that have to be trolls, like the teacher in Canada with the huge fake breasts. Maybe some people are being outrageous to point out how ridiculous this issue is becoming to try and get women to stand up for ourselves?

icelolly99 · 24/03/2023 09:16

Can I recommend following and supporting the organisations Sex Matters and Fair Play for Women if you're interested in protecting sex based rights for women.

YouSetTheTone · 24/03/2023 09:17

‘Womanphobe’ is a good one, I’ll use that. I say I’m pro-women’s rights and that people spouting the TRA lines are misogynists but ‘womanphobe’ echoes back nicely the ‘transphobe’ jibe.

I do wonder how some people on this thread would cope if their son told them he thought he was in the wrong body and wanted to live as a woman.

The first thing I would do is get him psychologically assessed. Then explain to him he'll always be a man no matter what mutilation road he goes down. I wouldn't be sugar coating it to appear a liberal, woke, mother. He'd get the hard facts & a few trips to the psychologist.

It’s shocking and not right. I played football as a young girl, always playing against boys as no girls played it where I live. I was a good player and could hold my own against the boys, however when I reached about 15 I simply couldn’t compete physically anymore against them, they were stronger and faster. I knew my limits. Women cannot compete against men at physical sports. It’s not right and it should never be happening

If I had a son who wanted to cheat in women's sport I would think I had failed as a parent but I would support his right to wear whatever clothes he wanted.

Do you think it's unreasonable for women to want fairness and safety in sport or do you think we should acquiesce to every demand men make so that we don't appear mean?

mushypeasontoast · 24/03/2023 09:23

IncompleteSenten · 24/03/2023 08:19

Because women's safety is unimportant.

In Judo the sexes train together and with a good uki (partner), this is not an issue. The most problematic stage is in the teen years when the girls hit puberty and are naturally self conscious, and the boys are conscious of grabbing the wrong place. Once they work through this and effectively go back to treating each other as bodies there are no issues.

If you are feeling unsafe in training then the club has issues and I would suggest trying an alternative club. I would also reach out to the safeguarding team.

I have no problem with the above, however, a male sexed person should never be allowed to compete with a female sexed person. That would be dangerous and reckless in my opinion and the male player would definitely be at an advantage. Within the BJA (governing body) though, they are making changes to make it easier for transmen to compete in the male section. I have my concerns about this but anyone who's objected so far has been labelled unsupportive and bigoted. If transmen are allowed into the women's game it will kill the support for many women who will never be able to compete due to the physical differences.

SaysRelaaxxx · 24/03/2023 09:25

I agree!!! I do understand the point being made that there are physical differences that might make competing together in sport unfair/unsafe. But my word, the horrible attitudes of people on this thread! “No matter how many hormones they take, they will always be a MAN”…”it’s all a delusion in their head”…wow. What’s next, off to camp to be cured of homosexuality? Pitchforks and torches?

Most definitely cherry picking. I think very few trans men would happily undergo the monthly crippling pain and heavy flooding that my best friend suffers. Or the debilitating pre menstrual migraines that put my poor Mum in bed for 3 days every month. As for child birth................

Mommymoments · 24/03/2023 09:27

maddening · 24/03/2023 08:54

Totally agree, there is not a "trans story" which comes without an underlying mental health issue, except for the AGPs which come from sexual fetish. Addressing the underlying issue should be the first port of call.

90% of children that present with actual dysphoria (the trendy aspect we seeing currently imo shows that there are people without dysphoria being captured) self resolve if no social transition or medical transition is undertaken. 80% of early presenting dysphoric children that self resolve turn out to be homosexual.

I have two friends who were tomboys in their early teens. They are now two of the most glamorous, feminine women I know.
Now in their early 40s they shudder to think what road they would have gone down in their teens & what irreversible damage they would have done to their bodies.
This was the time a time of no social media or bloody prounons. They were fully accepted for what they were harmless tomboys. Nooone in their ear saying you should identify as he/him cos you don't wear dresses... You hate make up, girly stuff & pink...you're definitely trans.
They thank the lord they didn't grow up in this era.

It is always us that lose out whatever happens.

Even fully transitioned transwomen should not be allowed to compete with women. They've had the advantage of puberty and are stronger and faster.

This one though - just attention seeking. I know there are transwomen who are genuine but my god we are seeing more and more that just wants the good bits of being a woman (don't we all) and shacking up with lots of other transwomen and getting lots of attention.

It's the biological truth FFS. This incursion into women's rights is happening because People have been bullied and scared into not telling the truth. It's over. Done. We will no longer comply with your attempts to control our speech.

Gay people did not ask anyone to deny reality.
