To think that 11 stone isn't that heavy unless you're really short?

When I was losing weight a few years ago I went down from 14 and a half stone to under 13 in the space of 4 weeks. However I then seemed to stick for ages round about the 11 stone mark - my target weight was 8 stone. However o can say that 11 stone felt infinitely different from being in the 14s although I was definitely overweight at this weight.

Anyway shout out and much love to anyone and everyone on a weight loss programme - it's bloody hard !

Well I have a healthy bmi of 23 at 11 stone and am a size 10-12 so no, of course it's not heavy unless you're a shorty.

Coxspurplepippin · 23/03/2023 09:14

At that weight my BMI would be 19.7! As opposed to the 32 it currently is Sad

Im 5"8" for transparency!

Sparklfairy · 23/03/2023 09:16

I'm 5ft6 so not short and 11st 3 is overweight BMI afaik. My heaviest was 11st 2. I was a size 14, 38 inch bust, 30 inch waist and 42 inch hip. I lost weight and only now can see how big I was and I'm not skinny now, I just don't carry it well apparently!

CatOnTheChair · 23/03/2023 09:17

My BMI is healthy at 11 stone. I am under weight at 8 stone ( as in BMI of 16).

Alittlenonsensenowandthen · 23/03/2023 09:17

I'm 5ft 5 and 11st is too heavy for me but mainly cos I'm apple shaped so I look like a barrel

Ontobetterthings · 23/03/2023 09:19

I'm 5 3 and 11 stone. My bmi is 27. I need to lose another stone to look thin and be healthy. I'm trying 🤣

ValerieDoonican · 23/03/2023 09:19

BMI is not really a reliable indicator of healthy weight / overweight. Its just an easy one to calculate because weight and height are easy to measure. Don't get too hung up on it.

Crabwoman · 23/03/2023 09:20

I am 5"5 and 11 stone. It's definitely overweight for me. My bmi confirms I'm overweight and I look awful. Totally self inflicted due to a stressful year.

I do have a small frame so that might contribute. My face, wrists feet and ankles are still small and slender - so in photos, my head looks like a pea on a fork.

I've lived in dresses for the last year as I look awful in trousers.

Sunshineandshowers42 · 23/03/2023 09:21

I'm 5'4 (so average height for a woman, I believe) and 11 stone would give me an overweight BMI...

JofraArchersFastestBall · 23/03/2023 09:22

I'm tall (5.11) and 11 stone is about right for me. Currently 11.5 stone and feel slightly wobbly..

Richhandcream · 23/03/2023 09:23

I'm 5'4" and hover around the 9st 7-10lbs sort of weight. The BMI calculator says that's healthy and my healthy range goes up to 10st 1lb. That agrees with how I feel in myself. If I go over 10st I start to feel a bit uncomfortable.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 23/03/2023 09:23

Depends on so many factors. I am 5ft 2.5 inches with broad shoulders & hips. Found my ideal weight to be around 10 stone - I have got down to 9 but looked gaunt in the face. Dread to think what I weigh at the mo but reckon I need to lose at least 4 stone

Fleurysur · 23/03/2023 09:24

I’m 5’9” and my weight fluctuates between 9.5stone and 11 stone. All within a healthy BMI but at 9.5 I’m dieting.

BarrelOfOtters · 23/03/2023 09:25

I looked great at 11 stone - a bit gaunt at 10stone - I'm now 14 stone and while I don't look obese I'm a size 16- way too heavy and BMI is overweight. I'm 5 foot 7.

ChickenDhansak82 · 23/03/2023 09:26

I'm almost 5'11 and when I was 11 stone it was a little too big for my liking.

But... that was due to my lifestyle at the time with not enough exercise, so the 11 stone was due to poor diet.

I now do a lot of kick boxing and weight lifting. I'm just over 10 stone but 11 stone would be fine if the weight gain was muscle mass not fat.

BMI actually allows me far too much weight for my body. I have quite a petite frame and I am technically still 'healthy' at 10.5 stone, whereas really I am overweight over about 9.5 stone (huge waist measurement etc).

Daydreamer123456 · 23/03/2023 09:28

I’m pretty short at about 5ft 4” at my heaviest I was probably about 10.5 stone.

Currently around 9.5 now.
11 would be overweight for me and I would feel very uncomfortable

soddingspiderseason · 23/03/2023 09:28

Weight and BMI are pretty blunt instruments for measuring overall health. Muscle weighs 3 times as much as fat, so if you exercise regularly and are a fit and muscular 11stone that will be healthier than being an unfit 9 stone with lots of unseen visceral fat. Being healthy and fit is what matters; weight per se not so much.

ElizabethBest · 23/03/2023 09:28

I'm 5'5 and at 11 stone, I'm a size 8-10. At 10 stone, I'm a size 6, and look extremely underweight. It all depends how your weight is distributed - I am very hourglass, so at 10 stone my waist is about 24", and although I am not tall I have very long legs for my height, so that affects the way the weight is spread, if you see what I mean?

SybilWrites · 23/03/2023 09:28

I'm just over 5'8 and 11 stone is too big for me even though it's within a healthy BMI. I prefer to be 10 stone.

I'd probably be a large size 10 at that weight.

I think you probably need to ask a different question as for you you're not at a healthy bmi at 11 stone, so you need to be asking what do you need to do to kickstart your diet again. I'd suggest looking again at your calorie intake and your macros, but everyone finds a different way of losing weight that works for them.

JennyDarlingRIP · 23/03/2023 09:28

11 stone is BMI 22.8 for me , I'm comfortable between 10 and 11, calculator says bottom end of healthy is 8 stone 13 but I start to look a bit skeletal under ten stone and people ask if I'm unwell. I'm 5'9 though

JeanBodel · 23/03/2023 09:29

To lower the tone, I've just re-read Riders in preparation for the Disney+ launch of Rivals and the amount of fuss about Tori 'hefting' her 11.5 stone around and being too big to fit through a door is off the charts. Things really were different in the 70's. 11.5 stone appears to be the fattest woman they can conceive of.

I would love to be down to 11.5 stone....
