This is a fully intact man with a penis who has undergone no surgery or hormonal treatment. He threatened to rape his mother with sharp implements & let her bleed for hours. Also threatened to murder her. He has been put in a women's prison.

Presume "Barbie" also has to be searched by female Prison Officers? There's an interesting podcast about the experience of female prisoners in Limerick prison where "Barbie" is being held in the women's estate. Needless to say it's horrific. "Barbie" and another male prisoner are segregated in the same wing but the obscenities directed at the women is unreal, based on the women's testimony. And they get punished if they raise objections.

But hey, who cares about women in prison eh?

Barbie is not the only man being held in the female estate in Ireland also. He's one of 3. All convicted of violent crime and all of whom applied for a GRC after conviction.

I see Leo Varadkar is saying he knew nothing about this until the weekend. I find this very hard to believe as it's been widely known and discussed on social media for at least two years. I imagine a great many Irish people have written to him about it. So, either he is lying, or his officials have kept the information from him, which would suggest he has told them these concerns are not a priority for him. I can't see a single way this can play out that doesn't reflect badly on him.

This is awful. Why is this being allowed to happen? No men should be in women's prisons. Isn't that part of some human rights convention? It should be if it isn't.

One of the gript articles says that Barbie was assessed by the Tavistock GIDS clinic in the UK a few years ago, and staff weren't convinced Barbie was suffering from gender dysphoria. There are many websites people can look at which give people model answers to give at the gender clinic to get the diagnosis they need to access hormones, surgery and in Barbie's case a gender recognition certificate. One of the reasons the GIDS clinic ia being closed is because young people haven't been assessed in the round. Only their gender issues have been taken into account and nothing like enough weight has been given to other mental health problems and the very adverse experiences many of them have had while growing up. Not many could have had a worse start in life than BK. I hope very much the father is now behind bars and the mother is safe.

Violent males are being housed in women's prisons in the name of trans inclusion in many 'so called' progressive / left wing countries.

@Justforlaffs womens rights in Ireland are being depleted by the minute. A trans woman gave a speech at university college Dublin on International Women's Day.. It seems to be growing momentum with teenagers here in Ireland it's so sad. Even more frightening that it's being encouraged & enabled by our government.

Even more disturbing is that our state broadcaster RTÉ isn't reporting any of it.
Its state controlled censorship.

The Irish government will only react when it gets to this level of horrific. They are waiting for injuries in sport and rapes in swimming pool dressing rooms before they will believe that yes, there are consequences of pretending that men can be women. As for fairness in sport or allowing women to feel safe, they don't care.

Let's not forget that Ireland has a long, long history of throwing women under the bus in the name of ideology.
