Neighbour rang the police on us!

Miss busy body next door has just called the police on us! 10 minute argument and I went off upstairs to bed with DS. We’re both absolutely knackered DS isn’t sleeping so this has taking a toll on us and this is what caused the argument.

she’s rang the police on a few people on the estate before over nothing really, nothing I’d get worked up about.

police have just came banging down our doors and windows blue lights shouting police !gave us the shock of our lives left within minutes as they seen we was fine.

We feel absolutely humiliated now! AIBU to go round in the morning or should I just leave it?

She called based on what she could hear.
If you were a woman who happened to be having seven bells knocked out of her you’d have been glad she called.

Makingamess4212 · 20/03/2023 22:53

I would leave it. I've been the police ringer quite a few times, and being honest it takes a lot for me to call them. There was some sort of issue going on next door, my neighbour was screaming and shouting, then her son just started hysterically wailing and screaming. We weren't sure what was happening so we rang the police. Turns out the stress of the argument caused his mom to have a seizure (epileptic), and that's why the son was screaming.
People aren't always "busy body's", they just care about you and your familys welfare. Noises can sound 10x worse on the outside than what you think they do. At least if you or your DC were ever truly in trouble you know there are people out there who give a sh*t

CC4712 · 20/03/2023 22:57

OP- what would going around to hers achieve? I assume she was so concerned for you and your childs welfare and you think SHE was out of order!!! The argument must have been very loud for her to hear it and be so concerned!🙄

Lonelymum27 · 20/03/2023 22:58

I know but us shouting over having no sleep seems a bit to much. She’s rang the police on the family across the road. The couple 2 doors up. I just think it’s wrong!

Well stop bloody shouting loud enough to disturb your neighbours then. Ffs

Lonelymum27 · 20/03/2023 23:00

We live in a new build so you can hear everything 😩

When we got a new car and was selling our old one she told us to move it even though it wasnt effecting her. We bought a lazy spa hot tub in the summer she was slamming doors all day.

Well either she was genuinely concerned about you or she was at the end of her tether with the shouting. It can't be any fun to have to listen to that and to wonder what if you don't call when someone is at risk of harm.

That all sounds pretty annoying tbh. #teamneighbour

Do you expect them to listen to every word ir something?
There was a disturbance, they thought it might be dangerous for someone so they (correctly) acted.

  1. be grateful there’s someone who’ll do that if you actually need it one day
  2. stop having screaming matches when other people in ear shot are trying to settle down for the night
GrazingSheep · 20/03/2023 23:03

The police arrived fast.

so you know everything can be heard in your new builds, surely that would mean you’d be extra careful to not disturb your neighbours? No idea what the car has to do with your noise levels

maddy68 · 20/03/2023 23:04

Be grateful that you have a neighbour who cares what's happening if it sounds abusive she's right to call them. It's up to the police to decide if it's true

Yes. Going round to apologise is a good idea👍

GettingThereCharleyBear · 20/03/2023 23:07

Why are you shouting at each other like that in front of your son? 😢

ArcticSkewer · 20/03/2023 23:08

There's no need to pretend you are on the cast of Shameless

GlassBunion · 20/03/2023 23:08

Just stop shouting.
Police don't generally immediately pop round for just shouting.

Maybe you were screeching murderous things.

MistyMountainTop · 20/03/2023 23:08

You sound like the neighbours from hell

24KaratCucumber · 20/03/2023 23:08

How many women are dead right now because their neighbour didn't want to get involved when they heard screaming and yelling?

Instead of being annoyed, take it as a sign that things aren't right.

sadieshavingashindig · 20/03/2023 23:08

You're not exactly painting yourselves as model neighbours tbqh

midsomermurderess · 20/03/2023 23:09

She'll probably feel vindicated if you turn up at her door tomorrow shouting the odds.

Alargeoneplease89 · 20/03/2023 23:10

How do you know she rang the police on other people?

Anyway I would personally go round and apologise for the noise disturbance and joke about the lack of sleep but thank you for the concern.

Why antagonise the neighbour especially when you believe she rings them on others?

Yesthatismychildsigh · 20/03/2023 23:10

Noisy neighbours are a pain in the arse. Yes, go round tomorrow, prove (even more) that you’re a scruff. And you don’t even know that it was her. If this is real.

As for the hot tub ..........🙄🙄

Exactly. The poor kid.

You need to get control over yourselves. If you know people can hear you, keep your voices down. Let alone what you are doing to the child with all of that strife.
