Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

Why could they not have carried it home and put it in their own bin? Or used one of the many public bins in the area? No excuse, it's fucking unacceptable and nothing will convince me otherwise.

Why ask if you're being unreasonable? You clearly don't think you are, so why have you bothered to post? Do you just like to argue and kick up a fuss?

OP: AIBU?

90% responses: Yes, you are

OP: It's fucking unacceptable and nothing will convince me otherwise

Not sure why you posted, OP?

TO VENT. 👍🏻

I would say that your reaction seems very strong for something that is at most a small inconvenience to some people. You’ve said you have health issues including mental health issues so this may be why. I don’t think posting here is going to help you.

For what it’s worth, this wouldn’t bother me, although people would have to come on our property to use our bins which I’d be more bothered by. I wouldn’t use someone else’s bin for anything though.

LaMarschallin · 17/03/2023 09:33

Rinkydinkydoodle

I had a stranger’s dirty nappy in my bin once. Wouldn’t have minded much but it was just sitting there, half folded, and it wasn’t in a bag. My bin wasn’t out on the street, it was up my driveway and beside my door, nor was it due to be emptied for a while.

Tbf, that's a very different scenario.
I think most people would be annoyed about that - I certainly would.

GotABeatForYouMama · 17/03/2023 09:34

Bagged dog poo is not the worst thing to be left in a bin.......come back to me when you've opened your bin and found a dead (roadkill I presume), rabbit in yours and then we'll talk.

LittleFingerStrength · 17/03/2023 09:34

oioimatey · 17/03/2023 08:44

I for one think it's disgusting. Use a dog poo bin, or your own bin, not somebody else's. Just like I'd never put my own rubbish in someone else's wheelie bin.

Those are my thoughts too. I clicked on the thread to see the justification from those who behave this way. It happened to me once, they threw dog shit in my empty recycling bin.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 17/03/2023 09:36

Can they refuse to take bins which have excrement in them? I ask because many many years ago - way before wheelie bins or recycling - the council refused to take our bin because there was dog shit in it - albeit not bagged. They said they weren't supposed to take bins which had excrement in. The same happened to a neighbour who emptied her cat litter directly into her bin. I always assumed that was why they had dog poo bins in parks etc - because they were geared up for it.

I seriously hope they don't refuse to take it because of this!!

It's waiting to be emptied op whats the problem? You need to find something more important to stress about 🙄

Crunchyb · 17/03/2023 09:11

Some of you lack imagination and, frankly, intelligence. I don’t want dog poo bags in my wheelie bin because (1) I can’t trust other people to dispose of it properly. The bag may not be tied properly. (2) In order to degrade more easily the poo bag may be thin, therefore more likely to split when other rubbish is placed on top of it. (3) My experience was that the poo bag clung to the bottom of the wheelie bin and wasn’t emptied with the rest of the rubbish so I had to get intimate with my wheelie bin to fish it out. That was not a pleasant experience. (4) Dog poo stinks, even when enclosed in a thin plastic bag. I don’t want my wheelie bin smelling of other people’s dog poo, thanks.

The OP has said her bin is out waiting to be emptied and is fairly full. Considering this points 2 and 3 aren't really relevant to the situation. I don't think it's the other posters that appear to be lacking intelligence here.
Point one I get but the OP hasn't said it's not bagged appropriately has she?
And in regards to point 4 what do you think a bin smells like? I have a dog (and a baby in nappies if it's relevant) and his poo bags and dirty nappies go in my black (rubbish bin). By the time it's ready to get emptied it isn't the shit that's stinking the bin out, it's the dirty packaging and food leftovers that I can smell. I've yet to come across a bin that smells of roses when it's got two weeks worth of rubbish inside it.

PriOn1 · 17/03/2023 09:40

I would never do this, OP. It wouldn’t particularly bother me if someone did it to me, assuming it was properly bagged as I have my own dog, but I wouldn’t ever put my dog’s poo in a random bin. I have a friend who used to do this and confess I was shocked.

Logically, I can’t see why I feel this way. When the bin is about to be emptied, it can’t make a huge difference, but I still wouldn’t do it because that bin is someone else’s property.

Maybe make sure it isn't visible before it's emptied - ewww though. 🤢

(I'm probably wrong or out of date, or both.)

Goodread1 · 17/03/2023 09:41

It's Disrespectful for sure,

Cheeky fuckers

But these days the way thinks are like the fact dog shit is not just left on the pavements or thrown up high on tree branches
It's actually put in a receptacle called a bin,
Is weirdly a improvement 🤔 of sorts !!!

Still cheeky fuckers @dogpoobin

You could buy a sticker in your front window, stating you have a ctv camera, watching 👀 your house,
even if its a lie and you definitely do not possess one, cctv camera,

It might deter them from putting dog shit,in your bin,
I was thinking of idea of getting a one of those signs, with dog shit symbol with red circle line, fine if anybody puts dog shit in, alongside cctv warning sign too,

gettingoldisshit · 17/03/2023 09:39

Oh thank you that's helpful advice. I have a million other things causing me sleepless nights but YES you are CORRECT! I'll find another one to add to the list and that will solve this problem of the dirty fucker who put their shit in my bin. Why didn't I think of that? 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
redboxer321 · 17/03/2023 09:45

Why is someone who picked up their dog's poo, bagged it and deposited in a bin a "dirty fucker"?

BarrelOfOtters · 17/03/2023 09:45

I've done this when a bin is out and about to be emptied - popped a bit of rubbish in to someone else's bin.

What I wouldn't do is put it in a random's bin that was just there.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 17/03/2023 09:46

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 08:53

Then why post in AIBU if you wont be convinced otherwise? Being possessive of your bin and its contents is a little bit weird and obsesssive smh

CaroleSinger · 17/03/2023 09:47

If you hadn't checked the bin you'd be none the wiser. For all you know this could have been happening every week.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 17/03/2023 09:47

Thing is, dog shit (well I guess shit generally) smells heavingly awful. A woman knocked on my door mid dog walk the other day to ask me something. She had bagged up her dog's shite in the correct way, but while she was chatting, she was waving her hand holding the poobag around and the STENCH. 🤢 It was overwhelming and I don't know how she put up with it, I kept stepping a bit further back and trying to get upwind of her, but boy was I glad when she left (although she seemed very nice - apart from the bag of shite). I'd hate that pong lingering in my bin - collecting poo is the main reason I don't have a dog?

OP - would you consider a gravity lock if it becomes a regular problem?

GandhiDeclaredWarOnYou · 17/03/2023 09:48

I’m out for a walk, I’ve finished a can of pop and the street I’m on has their full recycling bins out for emptying.

If I put my can in someone’s recycling bin, am I a disgusting CF, OP?

They haven’t put a dog shit directly in your bin, they’ve put a tied-closed bag containing dog shit on top of the other rubbish in your bin, which will be emptied imminently.

Unless you’re 4’6”, it’s not “at eye level”.
If you are 4’6”, I’m sure your life has more significant inconveniences than this.

Still, your dogged groan determination that you’re in the right has been a fun read this morning.

Good question. I'd love to know what the OP calls those who leave their dog shit all over the pavements. Confused

BreviloquentBastard · 17/03/2023 09:49

You are coming across really angry and aggressive on this thread, regardless of whether or not you're being unreasonable, your explosive and disproportionate rage at people disagreeing with you is worrying. Are you ok? I feel like this isn't about dog shit.

To vent apparently.

To be fair, OP has mentioned having mental health issues and I think the reaction is likely to be because of those. Everyone should maybe bear that in mind.

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 08:43

Oh right, I see it ok. In that case I'll start popping my baby's pooey nappies in random peoples bins 👍🏻

As long as they're in a nappy sack, that's fine.
