Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

It's not acceptable. Put your dog's shit in your own bin or find a public one. I have a fantasy where all the people who say "it's fine" wake up to find their wheelie bin full of other people's dog shit because some fluke made every dog walker happen to pick the same one.

😂

Oh right, I see it ok. In that case I'll start popping my baby's pooey nappies in random peoples bins 👍🏻

Go for it that's what bins are for

Right ok. I bet if I started a thread AIBU to leave my baby's nappy in a random wheelie bin? There'd be a resounding yabu that's disgusting!

No. Literally anyone with any common sense would say “it’s a Bin, waiting for the bin men, crack on”

toastfiend · 17/03/2023 08:50

It's not like a bin is a clean and sanitary place. Dog poo in a bag isn't equivalent to your bin ending up smeared with dog shit and 2 bags of poo on a day when the bin is being emptied anyway isn't going to make the difference between you being able to use your bin or not. Given that it won't impact on your life in any way, I'd just be pleased people were picking it up tbh.

I’d be happier with this than if they left it on the fucking road/field etc.

pick up the shit and bin it - anywhere but BIN IT!

megletthesecond · 17/03/2023 08:52

Yanbu. It's disgusting. Their poo should go in public or their bins.
It's happened to me once, after it had been emptied and I was there hooking it out with stick, double bagging it and taking it to the nearest public bin.

Paq · 17/03/2023 08:52

But how exactly does it affect you? A bin is a bin is a bin. It's outside. It's going to be emptied within hours if not minutes. If you hadn't gone out to it today you wouldn't have seen it and you would have been none the wiser.

I struggle to see the outrage.

R0ckets · 17/03/2023 08:52

Indeed. A bagged nappy and a bagged dog shit are no different. If you were throwing away a shitty nappy in someone's bin unbagged then sure people may say that was unreasonable but any logical person would have no issues with a bagged nappy in a bin that will be emptied imminently.

BigCheeseSandwich · 17/03/2023 08:53

A baffling thing to take up headspace.

If anyone wants to sling their bagged dogshit in my bin, crack on. Far preferable than leaving it bagged on the ground or in a tree.

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 08:53

Why could they not have carried it home and put it in their own bin? Or used one of the many public bins in the area? No excuse, it's fucking unacceptable and nothing will convince me otherwise.

If I’m walking and have a dog poo bag, I’ll admit sometimes I will put it in a wheelie bin. Always a black one though not recycling etc and I’ll always make sure it’s properly shut! I think lots of people do this… sorry it bothers you. It is a bin though and I wouldn’t mind someone putting it in my bin as long as it was properly sealed etc.

oioimatey · 17/03/2023 08:44

I for one think it's disgusting. Use a dog poo bin, or your own bin, not somebody else's. Just like I'd never put my own rubbish in someone else's wheelie bin.

I agree too. It’s disgusting. I don’t have a dog either and l would be pissed too. I don’t see the point of bagging it up and then leaving it on your bin! Take it with you!!

666roses · 17/03/2023 08:54

Where we live the wheelie bins belong to the council and their rules state that if the bin is on the property line or pavement you are allowed to use it.

emmathedilemma · 17/03/2023 08:54

I'd rather it was picked up and put in my bin that's about to be emptied than left on the street! It's a bit cheeky but I guess they realised it's about to be emptied and I don't think I could get worked up about this.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 17/03/2023 08:54

It would annoy me too. I’m a widow so my small black bin only goes round every 2 months or so, if I have it emptied every fortnight ndn puts his bags in it and it gives me the rage.

I don’t even know why it annoys me it just does.

Yeah the lid isn't properly shut either so it's just set there as I walk past my property / front door. Makes me feel sick 🤮

No you don’t do this. That a joke! Take it home and put it in your own bin. I can’t believe the cheek of some people!

Anyotherdude · 17/03/2023 08:58

Wow! That’s CFery of the highest order. I recently became a dog owner, and would never dream of putting my dog’s waste in someone else’s private bin - just as I wouldn’t add crisp or sweet wrappers, or disposable coffee cups to anything other than a public bin while I’m out and about (round here, our public bins are designated for all waste - including dog waste).
While writing, I also realised that I don’t use my wheelie bin for dog waste either: I bag it from the garden (rarely used as toilet by dog) and place it in the nearest public bin when walking the dog, as the collections from those bins are geared up to handle that kind of waste…

KeHuyWinner · 17/03/2023 08:58

This is the kind of content I've returned to MN for. Fingers crossed for a workman using the homeowners toilet thread too 😀

Dirtypaintwater · 17/03/2023 08:59

I couldn't get worked up about this. As long as its properly bagged and tied and can't escape, it's better in my bin than somewhere it shouldn't be.

IWantToBeACat · 17/03/2023 09:00

I don't have a dog, but I'd much rather someone picked up their dog's poo and put it in my bin than left it on the pavement for someone to walk in. In fact, I'd rather someone threw any rubbish into my bin than dropped it on the street.

Dirtydiesel · 17/03/2023 09:00

I don't mind if it is bin day and it has not been emptied yet but putting it in an empty bin is not on. Really though people should use a public bin or take the poo home.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 17/03/2023 09:02

Are you usually a germaphobe OP? As I'm not sure why you're so disgusted to even walk past a properly bagged one in a bin.

StopFeckingFaffing · 17/03/2023 09:05

Right ok. I bet if I started a thread AIBU to leave my baby's nappy in a random wheelie bin?

As long as the nappy is in a nappy bag and the dog shit is in a poo bag it's not something I would object to.

I'm not a dog owner but I would rather someone put a bag of dog shit in my wheely bin than hung it from a bush which seems to be a popular way for dog owners to dispose of their bagged poo

LadyHaHaHeeHaw · 17/03/2023 09:06

they should take it home with them or put it in a public dog bin
if the bag splits it’s counted as hazardous and they can refuse to empty it
just get a bin lock @dogpoobin
