This is abuse. What kind of parent takes their baby to a show like this?

Well that's a weird way to spend an afternoon.

This really.

What's the point meant to be?

Paturday · 03/03/2023 21:05

So grim. There was one of these drag queen storytimes in a pub down the road from our old flat and they recently had some protest/sit in in favour of it… glad we moved!!!

To have alcohol in one hand a baby in the other, whilst your baby is being viewed by men watching you on the Internet - and you watch poor quality, poor taste IMHO entertainment.

Well don’t go yourself then. It’s a free world. I think you need to get some perspective on what child abuse actually is

Forcing children to participate in a sexual fetish IS child abuse

HoleyShit · 03/03/2023 21:10

Ugh. Look at those morons all grinning away Hmm

3peassuit · 03/03/2023 21:10

When my 2 were little there were times when I craved a bit of adult company and entertainment. It never occurred to me to relieve the tedium by watching some bloke doing handstands while showing off his arse cheeks.

DerekFaker · 03/03/2023 21:11

Yuck!

People can see them on the Internet too?!

SunShineAllMine · 03/03/2023 21:17

If we can see who the baby and who the Mother is, anyone can.

I grew up in Brighton. I grew up going to Pride. Drag queens aren’t new to me. They weren’t new to me as a young child.

But this smacks of a weird sort of liberal performative parenting that really grinds my gears. Your kid isn’t getting anything from this. It’s just smug Instagram fodder.

Yes - this. I was raised by very liberal parents, I was taken on protests against section 28 (parents were teachers), also lived in Brighton and attended pride etc ... But this is fucking ridiculous. What is the point? Genuinely - what do these parents think the point is of taking their baby to this?

Loics · 03/03/2023 21:18

I don't see a problem with adults attending, but taking a baby is weird.

Is this type of thing the 'drip drip affect ' ?
but we've now noticed and we're pushing back against it.

Moonicorn · 03/03/2023 21:21

YANBU and I will not be told I’m ‘just enlightened enough’ to understand why erotic performers for toddlers is a good idea.

Think about it - what normal man do you know that would do this? If you asked your husband or male colleague to dress up in a thong and heels to perform for children, what would he say? He would say it’s creepy as fuck and no way. So why is it any different because they call themselves ‘gender fluid artists’ or whatever?

I can’t help but feel the end goal is child sexual abuse under the guise of ‘art’ or ‘liberating children to explore their bodies’. Enabled by a load of useful idiots who can’t see the wood for the trees.

If it walks like a pervert, and quacks like a pervert, it’s probably a pervert.

BornBlonde · 03/03/2023 21:22

If I was at a baby group and that started I would leave.

Moonicorn · 03/03/2023 21:23

*just not enlightened enough.

Busybody2022 · 03/03/2023 21:23

It's child sex abuse. If it were a working class family with porn on on the TV with the baby crawling around it would be called out for what it is. This is no different.

They call us phobes and far right, if we aren't happy with this.

PeaceLilyCactus · 03/03/2023 21:25

I’m opened minded but this is nonsense. I think there’s something wrong with wanting to perform a sexually provocative entertainment act in front of young children and their parents.

It makes me wonder if the attention seeking person who organised it, did so purely because they knew there would be a back lash.

Helleofabore · 03/03/2023 21:28

It is the adults who have no or very low sexual boundaries that see this event as not being sexualised. This results in their children having low or no sexual boundaries .

Who benefits from children with no or very low boundaries?

Ah right I'd assumed that was paid model's in the pictures

singer15 · 03/03/2023 21:31

I don't understand how this has become some prevalent in the past few years. It's just so utterly strange! What's the thought process going on in these parents' minds? The people promoting it are pushing an agenda to normalise perversion, but what are the parents getting out of it? The endorphin boost of virtue signalling? Or what?

DOBARDAN · 03/03/2023 21:31

Looks like a group of parents enabling child grooming,

SunShineAllMine · 03/03/2023 21:33

The Mother's and babies have had their images taken at the event, we have seen one set of images and they have been splashed all over the Internet, anyone including SS or men can now recognise them and target them.
