Does anyone remember coloured toilet paper? Any other random disappearances?

Just this really.

I have recollections of toilet paper being available in lilac, mint, peach, baby blue. My husband thinks in lying.

its now white. I’m not sure when the colours disappeared.

I'd love some lilac loo roll to brighten up the day. I realise that this is a non-problem but I’m bored and have had a glass of wine (or two).

Has anyone got any other random disappearances that cannot be explained?

I think you can still get peach, but not blue or lilac!

Awrite · 26/02/2023 00:10

I remember peach, pink and light green. Not lilac though.

itsacarveup · 26/02/2023 00:10

Yup, pink and pale blue that I recall and still see peach in the wild, but don't remember lilac or mint.

I remember my mum getting peach Andrex. Is it not a thing now? Never really pay attention to the rest of the aisle

Changingmynameyetagain · 26/02/2023 00:11

My mum used to buy blue paper because it matched our bathroom.

VonHorne · 26/02/2023 00:11

I think I can vaguely remember this too 😂 what brand was it? Why was it a thing? Why is it no longer a thing? 😂 M&S have a rose print one 🤷‍♀️

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/02/2023 00:11

I encountered some peach loo roll recently and it had a sort of fake flower smell. Disturbing..

itsacarveup · 26/02/2023 00:12

I also remember the medicated loo roll my granda had that came in a wee box, it was like tracing paper.

"I must say that I take my hat off to Sainsbury's, they seem to attract a better class of person. I saw a vicar choosing toilet paper; he chose a four-roll pack of purple three-ply. He must have money to burn! He could have bought some shiny white and given the difference to the poor. What a hypocrite!"

You forgot about the pink ones. My mum used to get them to match her all pink bathroom (by all pink I mean even the bath, sink and toilet 😬). They stopped making them in the early 00s my mum still complains about it

bellsbuss · 26/02/2023 00:13

We had peach growing up to match our bathroom suite

There were lots of brands. Probably not environmentally friendly. But people used to want to match their bathroom, furry bathroom mats, towels etc!

Hottytotty · 26/02/2023 00:15

I hadn’t noticed the colour thing but I like completely plain white paper and that is disappearing as well, except for the most basic value rolls! Everything is quilted this and quilted that, with teddies or puppies or diamond shapes or whatever.
Where is the plain but decent quality loo roll??! Maybe it’s with the coloured loo roll

Meandfour · 26/02/2023 00:15

SCENTED SOAP!!!

I literally asked my granny yesterday when she stopped buying scented soaps! She always, always had them next to the kitchen sink. My favourite was the green apple bar.

Meandfour · 26/02/2023 00:15

I don’t mean scents like Dove etc. fruit soap I probably should’ve said.

Vanillaradio · 26/02/2023 00:17

As of 2020 you could definitely still get peach. I bought some because it was all that was left in the shop at that point! We definitely had pink in the 80s when I was young to match our attractive pink bathroom suite 😂

Lysianthus · 26/02/2023 00:17

Pink is still the number 2 option in France

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 26/02/2023 00:17

I remember the coloured cotton wool balls too. Turquoise, in a glass jar in the bathroom!

Lysianthus · 26/02/2023 00:17

Obviously phrased that badly......

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 26/02/2023 00:18

Remember bath pearls. I used to love squeezing them. Haven't seen them for years.

My Grandma had this too. IZAL it was caused. Much better as tracing paper than loo paper!

Imsobored22 · 26/02/2023 00:19

There was definitely lilac. I bought some for my friend when I visited her in the early 2000s (she was a forever student and never had loo roll)! I re,e,bear thinking that buying it was a bit like something my mother would bring me so got the lilac to be a bit cooler!

I’m so glad I’m not imagining it.

My mum used to buy green for one bathroom and blue for the other. Neither of which agreed with my bits.... 🔥 Co-op still do cream loo roll.

ThinWomansBrain · 26/02/2023 00:20

I prefer white - had to buy peach the other day as that was all they had for the brand/pack size I wanted.
Anyone remember the hard, shiny non-absorbent one you used to get in public toilets?

VonHorne · 26/02/2023 00:21

OP - thanks for this random thread, it’s bringing back memories 😂

Ahhhh to co-ordinate with the decor, now I know! I kinda respect that level of detail!

Does anyone remember those body shop bath oil capsules? I think they were all sorts of shapes and scents? And they did those animal soaps too
