To think this ‘valentines’ m&s meal is rubbish?

Would you be disappointed with this as your valentines ‘cheap’ meal? When you ask for steak, asparagus and escalopes and come back with this instead 🙄think the main is horrendous.

Had to look at all the Valentines meal deals in the market - best value is Waitrose

If I was expecting steak and got what looked like a chicken kiev I wouldn't be impressed either.

I've just bought a scallop and king prawn starter, beef wellington, triple cooked chips, cauliflower cheese, mango cheesecakes and a bottle of Prosecco from Morrisons for £15. And I was spoilt for choice with the options. You've been ripped off!

Just had a look at the waitrose meal deal and you can get around £40 worth of food and drink for £20.

It's not what I would choose.

Today from the deal I got the tarts, rack of lamb, potatoes dauphinoise, chocolate bomb things and a bottle of sauvignon blanc. Looks nice, and a bargain for £20. I will cook some fresh veg to go with it.

The shelves were full at my M and S so could choose from everything - all looked fresh and nice.

I would add in a few veg - green beans, baby carrots maybe - but looks OK to me for the price. I'd be very happy if someone cooked that for me on Valentines day.

OP I think if you’ve ordered steak and escalopes then that’s two main meat elements and not the proper meal deal.

What has happened here? Is it a substitute order that differs from your request?

Just been to M&S and thought the valentine dine in was pretty mediocre. I have bought it in years gone by but won’t this year.

If you want a row with your partner over some food just have one. You don't need mumsnet to validate it.

£20 for a main, desert and starter and a rather shit side plus a bottle of Prosecco is pretty cheap.

If you want steak and asparagus go out and buy it, you'd pay a lot more for it than £20 though with the Prosecco.

I would consider that an escalope, they can either just a breaded meat or have a cheese filling. I love chicken cordon bleu.

It looks really sad and a bit grim tbh. It's cheaper to make something yourself and would taste better too.

I just got the sainsburys one for £15. scallops, sirloin steak, green veg medley, chocolate tortes and a bottle of rioja. thought that was decent.

But I don't think it looks in any way sad or grim. Some vegetables added on and I'd happily be served that for my dinner. The rosé prosecco might not be my fave though.

Well, it’s nothing like you requested, so I would be disappointed. I’m a bit puzzled why you would want steak and escalopes - that’s two main meat dishes. And asparagus is out of season too.

You would have been notified that items were substituted before delivery, and you could have handed them back to the Ocado driver.

What notification? What delivery? What Ocado driver? OP hasn’t mentioned any of these. I assumed that someone, her DH?, had gone to the shops and come back with this incorrect food.
