Would you be disappointed with this as your valentines ‘cheap’ meal? When you ask for steak, asparagus and escalopes and come back with this instead 🙄think the main is horrendous.

Looks cheap and a bit shit. I’d never serve that to someone I was trying to get into bed 😂😂😂

Hollyhead · 10/02/2023 21:37

Very unreasonable to ask for asparagus at this time of the year! How uncivilised!

I think the Sainsbury’s is probably better. £15.

I liked the look of the Sainsbury's one, but all the drinks are wine (including alcohol free wine). So tough shit if you don't like or drink wine - at least Tesco has Peroni and Coke.

I thought the comment about airmiles was clear. As was my comment about wait until June for British asparagus. But I have learned my lesson, I will try to modify future posts to account for the hard of thinking.

Says the one who ‘can’t understand’ why someone would want to eat something that you don’t want.

I don’t know, never having eaten them - I find it odd that you’ve had them more than once if they’re so unpleasant - but I find it quite hard to believe that some chat potatoes and a bit of breaded chicken have an offensively ‘chemical’ taste.

I was always popping them in the microwave at uni, big regrets. Luckily not eaten one since 2008. Also a taint of chemicals, not 100% offensive but also not pleasant 😂

Jazzy21 · 10/02/2023 22:15

I was in M&S earlier and people were clambering over each other to get to this meal deal!

rothbury · 10/02/2023 22:18

If you asked for escalopes then you got what you ordered OP.

Did you think you were ordering one of each, steak for one, chicken for one?

Was this an online order or someone went to shops for you?

OldTinHat · 10/02/2023 22:42

The Asda offering for £15 is a pretty good deal, starter, main, two sides, dessert and a bottle of wine. I'm tempted to get one just for me and eek it out over two days!

kateandme · 11/02/2023 07:07

I think you could buy a much nicer looking meal( still convenience type, ready prepared) for much cheaper.

Murdoch1949 · 11/02/2023 08:42

The Waitrose one is very good, £20 for £35 worth of food/drink starter, main, side, dessert & chocolate or wine/liqueur. Not necessarily Valentine's dinner, but Bourginon, Lasagne, Dauphinoise, etc that can be frozen, with £13 bottle of booze.

Bayleaf25 · 11/02/2023 08:59

If your partner bought it I’d be grateful they did a nice thing (assume the steak wasn’t available or they fancied this instead).

if delivered as substitute then I’d send it back if not happy.

Or plenty of time to cook something else on Valentine’s Day if it’s a huge deal. Not all of the £20 would be wasted as you’d still have the Prosecco, pudding etc.

Michellebops · 11/02/2023 09:11

Hilarious it's made the sun!

No I wouldn't be disappointed if someone went to pick up a meal for valentines and came home with this.

Pick it up yourself if you want full control of your meal.

My oh went to Morrisons and got a much better selection for £15

WildRose42 · 11/02/2023 17:43

Blimey!! That’s rubbish. They’ve obviously downgraded their meal deals!! What happened to the luxury meals they used to add to the meal deals?? Shocking M&S.

angela99999 · 11/02/2023 17:44

No, not worth £20 IMO.

Passifity · 11/02/2023 17:46

If it’s the basic meal then that the normal for M&S. If you wanted the luxury range that the black wrapper selection. Usually their meal deals are great. Take it back if your dissatisfied as M&S are generally very reasonable.

devonianpricklypear · 11/02/2023 17:48

this!!

devonianpricklypear · 11/02/2023 17:49

completely unreasonable. looks lovely Smile

ewright86 · 11/02/2023 17:54

I think you sound like a spoiled princess. Your other half made an effort and done something nice. Grow up.

Pe55yP00 · 11/02/2023 18:03

Lots of choice, Starter, Main, side, pud and booze.
The one I got was good value.

Glitteratitar · 11/02/2023 18:03

Thanks OP! Oh the back of your thread we bought escalopes, steak and asparagus for our dinner from our local M&S tonight! Really good price!

Sennelier1 · 11/02/2023 18:09

For £20 it's a very nice meal. Indeed no scallops or steak, but then again good value for that price 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rmw12 · 11/02/2023 18:11

If it was a delivery and not what you ordered, I’d just have rejected it and gone to asda! We got a Valentine meal deal from asda, tempura king prawns, steaks, truffle macaroni cheese, chips, chocolate and raspberry heart desserts, a huge box of chocolates (we could have had drinks instead) and a sky movie voucher, all for £15! I’m veggie so got an alternative starter and main but it wasn’t much more and my husband will get two meals out of it instead!

bellabasset · 11/02/2023 18:15

I was shopping in M&S yesterday and bought a dine in for me, scallops, rack of lamb, cheesy green veg bake, bottle of Prosecco, chocolate pudding. I asked my friend if she wanted one, as she likes scallops so she also got cod, hasselbac, lemon pud and a bottle of Malbeck. Good value

Rookiesboy · 11/02/2023 18:18

Aldi has really good steaks and Fizz. Puds not so good so would have to visit two places to cover the bases...

Happyher · 11/02/2023 18:24

I think the food looks ok but if I’d ordered steak I’d be disappointed too, but if you haven’t rejected it there may be no recourse
