Beauty students asked to strip in front of trans rapist at college AFTER sex attacks

My AIBU title taken from this news article:

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-students-asked-strip-front-29063499

This whole 'Isla Bryson' cluster-fuck has me angrier than I can describe.

These girls had to accept and trust this vile individual in their beauty course on the basis of Isla's claim to be a woman, nothing more. They even tolerated abuse from Isla.

They were not told this individual was facing charges of rape. The college claim they didn't know either. Because 'Isla' said he was a women, these young women felt they had no choice but to strip to virtually naked in front of him. Failing to do so would be 'bigoted'.

But he also happens to be a serial rapist. Young women, some possibly aged 16 or so, stripping to virtually naked while a serial rapist watches. If this was my daughter I would be going mad.

Where is the safeguarding?

AIBU to feel viscerally angry with all our politicians about this?

There will be a tsunami of horrors coming out in the coming weeks, the cat is out of the bag and people can finally speak without fear about the effects of the slow creep of self id that's been snuck in by the back door. Those poor girls, and so many others still to speak out.

Safeguarding seems to have gone out of the window since we were all told to "be kind". I'm done with being kind and I no longer care if someone feels offended.

Viviennemary · 27/01/2023 13:05

I've just read about this. Absolutely unbelievable. This is all down to Nicola Sturgeon IMHO. Laws to protect a vile rapist and never mind other vulnerable people like those beauty students who might be traumatised for the rest of their lives. But the college has a lot to answer allowing this dangerous bully to remain on the course before eventually expelling him.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for this madness and the erosion of women's rights and basic safeguarding

1FootInTheRave · 27/01/2023 13:22

Absolutely disgraceful.

Helleofabore · 27/01/2023 13:32

I expect that the usual posts will start to appear about just how 'young women' are just so much more accepting of this and there is NO evidence about Self-ID being used to access women or that 'this is just a bad apple' and every group has bad apples....

The reality is that young women are absolutely beginning to push back. There are incidents like this and sports, and rape crisis centres, and males being lauded for being "Top" women that have been working to shine the light on the wide range of negative impacts that ideological thinking has on women and girls.

That is the reality. However, some posters will still continue to follow the ideological thinking because they are either heavily invested for whatever reason, or are fully subscribed in their own 'kindness' and 'tolerance'.

But no! These young women should never have been put into a position where they felt pressure to undress in front of this male. EVER. Not by society and well meaning people, not by the college and not by a government that refuses to listen to women and to work with them to find equitable solutions.

Be Kind has become, like so many things today, toxic. Be Kind can go fuck itself.

unclebuck · 27/01/2023 13:42

The poor woman is so gaslit she still calls that predatory man "she"!!!!!

lifeturnsonadime · 27/01/2023 13:44

Even if this vile individual wasn't a rapist these young women should NEVER be asked to pretend that a man is a woman and make themselves uncomfortable.

Sick to the teeth of this shit.

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 27/01/2023 13:46

I too am viscerally disgusted OP

Shame on all those people who silenced women with cries of "transphobia!". It is YOU who are transphobic for believing trans people are so mentally unstable that they cannot be subject to safeguarding and common sense like any other human being ought* to be. It is YOU who have brought about a negative association with trans people by insisting rapey chancers like this pathetic git are really women. But most of all, shame on you for your misogyny. Women and girls are full human beings. We do not exist to serve and validate and arouse men.

Yanbu

this woke madness needs to end now.

blubberyboo · 27/01/2023 13:50

Let’s be honest Isla Bryson does not exist

HE is called Adam Graham

Theluggage15 · 27/01/2023 13:52

Yes but no vile predatory men will take advantage of self id. Only transphobes, terfs yadda yadda would suggest this. Nothing to see here.

Janbohonut · 27/01/2023 13:52

Absolutely horrific for those poor women to have been gaslit like that.

This is where "being kind" gets women.

As usual.

Anyone continuing to defend TWAW is a misogynist, an idiot or both.

stealthninjamum · 27/01/2023 13:53

I can’t begin to imagine what those poor girls went through, I really feel sick reading this.

I’d bloody love Stonewall, Little OJ, Nicola Sturgeon and anyone of that ilk to defend this.

Brighteyedtriangle · 27/01/2023 13:54

This story just gets worse. Absolute predator

Helleofabore · 27/01/2023 13:54

Oh.... and shall we take bets on how long it takes for the 'not another "anti-trans" thread' comment to appear.

Because after all, anything pro-woman must be 'anti-trans' but those posting those kind of posts don't like to see the extrapolation of that particular logic.

ArabellaScott · 27/01/2023 13:55

'She went to the head of the department and said we were all discriminating against her and were homophobic. I was really offended and hurt by that and didn’t go to college for three weeks because I was scared'

Shona Robison:

'There is no evidence that predatory and abusive men have ever had to pretend to be anything else to carry out abusive and predatory behaviour.'

Geetars · 27/01/2023 13:55

Disgraceful

Helleofabore · 27/01/2023 13:55

Or maybe, just maybe this case will give those posters some pause in their shaming of people who disagree with them.

Because using language like 'transphobic' and 'anti-trans' is absolutely about emotionally manipulating others.

Helleofabore · 27/01/2023 13:57

by the way. This is a petition to the government to have the language around the equality act strengthened so that there is NO way to misinterpret it.

Please do sign it if you feel that the discussion should at least be had.

Feel the same.We truly are living in a fkd up world

Cornettoninja · 27/01/2023 14:00

It stands out to me that he was known as ‘Annie’ not Isla on the course. This is fast becoming one of the few ways that people can truly hide their past and start again without any questioning of their past for fear of appearing phobic.

I can only presume that there is a hesitancy to enquire formally but discreetly about any other names people are/have been known by.

Theluggage15 · 27/01/2023 14:01

I’d have been laughing if it wasn’t so serious, at the trans brigade who are now saying ‘ but he’s not proper trans, he’s a fake, he’s just taking advantage.’ But I thought if a bloke said he was a woman then he’s a woman, that you mustn’t question them and I thought they said no one would take advantage.

The mental gymnastics the trans activists engage in must be knackering.

BillyDeanisnotmylover · 27/01/2023 14:03

I honestly don’t understand how most of these transgender issues are even a discussion.
It’s so simple and obvious, a five year old could tell you.
If you are born male, you are a man.
If you are born male but feel like a woman, you are a man who feels like a woman.
If you are born male, feel like a woman and have surgery to remove your male sexual organs, you are a man without a penis who feels like a woman.
There should be absolutely no prejudice or discrimination in areas of life where gender is irrelevant. However, where gender is relevant eg. prison, sports, female only spaces etc., a born male is a man.
And vice versa.
