To think that a man standing outside a school in girls uniform is not OK?

crinklemum2 · 20/01/2023 08:35

Name changed as this is very local and he was seen wearing my DD's school uniform.

A local school uniform shop shared images to reassure parents they would not be selling him any items. Essex police say he poses no risk and people should stop sharing the photos. He looks to be late 50s/early 60s.

He's been seen around schools - both primary and secondary - dressed as a school girl (in their uniform). I am fucking outraged that the police don't seem to think that's an issue. God forbid we offend men or shame their fetishes.

AIBU that this must be an antisocial behaviour at the very least?

Do you understand what pedos are? Do you get that they’re not rate unicorns a put scarily common? Do you know what safeguarding is?
What do you think the motive is for a grown man to hang around a school in a school girls uniform? What innocent explanations do you believe there to be?

Let's be clear. I think he's odd. I think it's possible there's an element of exhibitionism as in he enjoys the attention. I think it's a big jump to say he's a paedophile though....(which by the way in itself isn't a crime). What l'm struggling to understand is other than dressing as a schoolgirl, which could be a little unsettling, what threat do you believe he poses. Are people assuming he's going to sexually assault someone or maybe start wanking? That's what I'm trying to understand.

ArabellaScott · 20/01/2023 13:49

It's the police's response here that is egregious.

We have no idea what this man's motivations are - he is alarming people, though.

The police have a duty to keep the peace, to protect vulnerable people (ALL vulnerable people).

I saw him described on Twitter as a “grotty old perv” and I thought that was perfect. What’s unbelievable is the police have spoken to him and decided he’s not a risk (yeah, I’ll trust their judgment!) and asked that people stop sharing pictures of him as it might upset him! If I were local I’d be calling my MP and my local police and crime commissioner and kicking up a bloody stink. He is imposing his fetish on children.

This. Couldn’t agree more. ASBO.

Unfortunately fashion choices are not a crime and neither is standing outside schools. But i do think its wierd.

Weird? Even the most tolerant and liberal of us would suggest that he's a pervert!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 20/01/2023 13:51

This happened last year at a girls school in Bucks too.

If he was standing outside my kids schoo I'd be standing right beside him exercising my right to free speech and asking him many questions

Yes we assume he may progress to sexually assaulting someone! There, happy now?

If the police have looked into it, then it’s possible that he has MH condition that has him thinking he is a school girl.

Yeah, and maybe he got knocked on the head, fell into the sea and thinks he's the little mermaid. Any other possible excuses? Why are people so keen to give any explanation for this other than the one it definitely is, that he's a pervert who is using dressing as a schoolgirl and hanging around a school for sexual arousal?

Actually a head injury could cause such a condition.

Why are people so eager to assume he is a “pervert” getting “sexual arousal” when the police have already checked him out for that and said that he isn’t any such type of person? Are we wrong for thinking about the other possibilities since the police have ruled out the one you think it is?

Isn't that what they like to be called nowadays? It's just another legitimate sexual preference right?

He’s literally fuckin staring at kids and making sure he’s there to get the bus with them. No one is telling me this man isn’t a paedo.

Lovelysausagedogscrumpy · 20/01/2023 13:53

but if we just embark on witch hunts fuelled by hysteria that's when people's homes get burned down because the neighbours found out they were a Pediatrician. I'm more inclined to think this is a manifestation of some sort of mental illness and his family will be utterly mortified when they realise what their elderly relative has been doing.

You’re talking about a moronic mob who confused Paediatrician with Paedophile, This is not that. And even if it is a manifestation of mental illness, do you really think that makes it safe to allow him to continue doing what he’s doing ? And I think I read upthread somewhere that his family know what he’s doing and they’re struggling to access mental health services to deal with it. That in itself is unacceptable, given what could happen.

omnitea · 20/01/2023 13:54

I worked with a single man in his 50's who took my picture on his mobile phone more than once when I asked him to delete it he refused and said he took lots of pictures of women at bus stops, on trains, in the supermarket. He said he took the picture and then masterbated while looking at it and that was the best way to "expunge" a woman from his brain. I complained to management about him and was told he wasn't doing any harm so there was nothing they could do.

It seems like this man is also taking photos of underage schoolgirls from previous posts and reports? If this is true I wonder what he is doing with them?

This thread has been eye-opening.

I've noticed threads with trigger warnings about rape/DV being infiltrated by bad faith posters with the sole intention of chipping away at women's boundaries, derailing and mansplaining why we're worrying our pretty little heads about nothing - but I don't think I've seen it so starkly on a thread about safeguarding children. It's very concerning and I truly hope these posters are part of some weird incel group and not genuinely women/mums whose defences have been eroded so effectively that they see no harm defending a man's right to wear a girls uniform, and take photos of children on a school bus. The first scenario is predictable, the second is sad and frankly scary!

Indeed!!!

FrostyFifi · 20/01/2023 13:54

I'm minded of the pitchfork brigades who think that being homosexual means that adult men want to have sex with pre pubescent little boys

Your comparison of a perverted man dressed as a schoolgirl and loitering outside a school on on buses to photograph children, to gay men, is disgustingly homophobic. Why would you even think to draw such a parallel?

Yes absolutely! And because some sinister person on the internet told me to untwist, I now believe that MAPs and dirty old men wearing school uniform. Yay I’ve been converted! Just like that!

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/01/2023 13:54

Are people assuming he's going to sexually assault someone or maybe start wanking?

I'd say either is a definite probability, since we know that crimes of this type escalate and this fetish didn't start the day he bought the uniform to stand outside a school so he's already had a good deal of progression to the point where he has taken his horrible perversion on the road. The road with the girl's school, the uniform of which he happens, by no coincidence, to be wearing. So I would say that escalation to flashing is possibly a next step.

Note that some people will attack women who voice their concerns. They will sneer and deride. It is a pattern, and once seen ...

As far as I'm concerned most young children do not want a strange old man hanging around them pretending to be one of them.

Infact, I don't want an old man following me about dressed like me.

If this is old fashioned then I don't care.

Of course that assumes that people with mental issues have little or no cognisance, which just isn't always the case. He could have a freedom pass. He could have worked in school clothing supplies in the past. As weird as this is, there are too many unknowns. What does seem clear is the police are certain that he is not committing any offence and is not a sexual risk to children. Obviously the police have not exactly shown themselves the best judge of character but if we just embark on witch hunts fuelled by hysteria that's when people's homes get burned down because the neighbours found out they were a Pediatrician. I'm more inclined to think this is a manifestation of some sort of mental illness and his family will be utterly mortified when they realise what their elderly relative has been doing.

Wow, can't believe anyone is still peddling that complete nonsense about "a paediatrician's house being burned down".

It never happened. This has been known for years. Suggest you do some due diligence next time rather than just repeating media-constructed lies

Leadbypencils · 20/01/2023 13:57

There's no fun when a woman dresses in a boy's school uniform.

Viviennemary · 20/01/2023 13:57

Of course this is weird and unacceptable. If there isnt a law agains tit there should be. Get local councillors and your MP involved if the police won"t act.
