To think that a man standing outside a school in girls uniform is not OK?

crinklemum2 · 20/01/2023 08:35

Name changed as this is very local and he was seen wearing my DD's school uniform.

A local school uniform shop shared images to reassure parents they would not be selling him any items. Essex police say he poses no risk and people should stop sharing the photos. He looks to be late 50s/early 60s.

He's been seen around schools - both primary and secondary - dressed as a school girl (in their uniform). I am fucking outraged that the police don't seem to think that's an issue. God forbid we offend men or shame their fetishes.

AIBU that this must be an antisocial behaviour at the very least?

How many girls must a stalker stalk to be considered a 'stalker'?

3 whole schools full obviously isn't enough.

I think for it to be "stalking" it has to be against a specific individual.

For once, I hope I read this story in the Daily Mail.

He has already escalated. After reading the FB posts, one apparently from a family member, who claims he has mental health problems, but does have capacity. He has been doing this for years. Claims he is transgender.

Wore school girl uniform under overalls, to loiter around local schools.
Went on to wear it openly.
Purchased school girl skirt claiming it was for a granddaughter.
Takes photos of the children.
Has tried gaining access to the school by jumping the fence. Apparently not the first time as they said he tried AGAIN.

How has he not been arrested?

Thanks for this information, I shudder to think what he would do if he was able to corner a child alone. He obviously has few inhibitions and it is very common to have multiple paraphilias so if he obviously has one paraphilia he has no inhibition about then there is every chance he has others he would have low inhibition about enacting. I do not understand why safeguarding of children isn't the priority here. Why do the police not just ban him from loitering near schools?

No. You don't get to close down posters like that. I think JudgeRudy asks a reasonable question. You don't have to like or approve of someone's behaviour but you can't make a blanket assumption that because you think they are weird their next move is sexual assault without a stronger basis than "he's a weirdo". JudgeRudy isn't a handmaiden, they're just declining to join a mob with pitchforks.

QED.

That’s weird and creepy as fuck but what are the police actually supposed to do? It’s not against the law to dress a certain way and stand outside of a school. I guess if they were to arrest him, there’s legally nothing they can actually arrest him for?

It sounds very much as though he’s causing alarm, harassment and distress.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 20/01/2023 11:34

JudgeRudy · 20/01/2023 11:26

I read and understood your words but in my opinion no, you didn't answer that all. Let's leave it there.

So you have got to this point in your life without understanding why a man dressed in a school uniform outside a school might pose a danger? Why there might be fear? You are beyond help. Did you Google the man I told you to? No, didn’t think so. He was a 64 year old pervert who did exactly what this other thing did. He then progressed to sexually assaulting a girl walking into school. Still wonder what we fear?

DarkShade · 20/01/2023 11:34

Ok actually @louiselouiselouise perfectly proves the point that we are all making. Society failed her spectactularly by making her go to a school where she and the other students were routinely sexually harassed. This is precisely why we need to protect girls from sexual predators. Louise - it absolutely was not your fault. There is nothing that you could have worn or said to stop these men assaulting you. You were just a kid trying to go to freaking school. But now that we are the adults, it's up to us to make sure that other kids don't have to have the same awful experienced you had.

lemmein · 20/01/2023 11:34

louiselouiselouise · 20/01/2023 11:25

I was forced to 'gag for it' as a child and hated it. I never chose to wear a skirt

You do realise that people get raped wearing trousers too don't you? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Last year there was a man raped in my local area who had been walking his dog!!

If covering up prevented rapes then women in strict Muslim countries would never be attacked 🙄

Mummyof287 · 20/01/2023 11:34

Ugh, that's weird...how can they be so sure he doesn't pose a risk?!

MyNameisMathilda · 20/01/2023 11:34

Coolblur · 20/01/2023 11:29

The one 'good' thing about this is that at least he's on everyone's radar now. Better than hiding in plain sight like so many others

Well you can hardly blend in in a black wig and school uniform!

I asked if you thought is OK for him to keep doing this.

mustgetoffmn · 20/01/2023 11:34

Awww. You know the desire to be a different gender is very strong in some people. This is a psychological situation and doesn't automatically indicate weirdness or danger. Im speaking with the reassurance that the police have checked him out. But he should really restrain himself if only for his own protection and good.

LakieLady · 20/01/2023 11:35

lovescats3 · 20/01/2023 10:21

You and other parents bombard the school with phone calls and emails complaining, same for governor's, council and local MP

Add the Police and Crime Commissioner to that list, too.

Outraging public decency is a crime. Stand near HM with a placard asking simply "is this an outrage on public decency? " Gather support and provide evidence that the public require the police service to serve the public.

......awwww? He is lurking outside of a school in a school uniform, at 60 years old. How many adult women do that? This isn't about gender.

They'll argue that he's been doing it for years and hasn't caused harm so let him continue.

Thatladdo · 20/01/2023 11:37

Sadly, this is a sickly sign of the times.
What our poorly society has become, the law is on his side.
He? is exercising the rights acrued through marches, parades, etc that went unquestioned, unchallened and promoted until now the new norm has swung so far in the other direction that the now extreeme outlayers are people like this magnificent charector, who even gets protectection by law! to stand outside a school. Imagine that happening in say the 1960's or 70's...
The solution to keep your children safe to this isnt on the right side of the law.
Hell, I sound like an anorchist there!

Ricco12 · 20/01/2023 11:38

If I lived there I'd be walking my school girl or boy to school

I wouldn't trust this man at all, he clearly has some kind of attraction to school children

omnitea · 20/01/2023 11:38

DarkShade · 20/01/2023 11:27

I answered, but will again.

I am afraid of all of the above. Also, I am afraid he is going to attack a student. There may not be a link between cross dressing and child sexual abuse, but there sure as hell is a link between deliberately seeking out children to hang around their school while dressed inapprorpiately, and child sexual abuse. As I said earlier, the fact that he is behaving in an erratic and deviant way should just in itself mean that his behaviour is unpredicatble, and thus not safe for him to be hanging around outside a school.

Also, and in general, I am afraid of a general trend of letting men intimidate young children in this way, and getting news reports that nothing is being done to stop them. This is because even if this man ends up not physically harming anyone, there are people who DO want to harm children who will be very interested to learn that they are now allowed to hang around outside schools and on the kids' school bus. I am afraid to live in a society where women and children are even more vulnerable to men and their sexual violence than we already are.

Crossdressing or Autogynephilia is a paraphilia, it is generally accepted that paraphilias often cluster together so that someone with one active paraphilia is likely to also have other paraphilias (see Jimmy Saville for example). Peadophilia is a paraphilia and this many has a self evident interest in children so I don't think your fears are unfounded at all.

DesertIslandCondiment · 20/01/2023 11:38

@JudgeRudy Why are you defending this person?

She doesn’t ask a reasonable question. The evidence has been provided. He’s a sexual predator. He’s a danger. We don’t want him near children. HTH.
