To object to having to call a man accused of rape 'she' in a criminal court trial?

Firstly, the definition of rape is penetration by a penis without consent. Only men have a penis. This case makes a mockery of the law and the criminal justice process and is a gross victimisation of this victim?

Isn’t it funny how the only calls for “well the criminals should think of that and not get themselves into that situation…” only applies to the female criminals in this case.

Not the male criminals. Not the “suddenly I’m going to prison so I’m going to say I’m a woman” criminals.

Just the females.

I think you'll find that rape has been a reality of life in prison for men for a very long time. Not that it makes it OK to export that risk to the female estate but let's face it, society is very comfortable with the idea of rape as an additional corrective for male criminals.

With the exception of this They're simply not brave enough to say it. Credit to Dot for being willing to say it (i really hope there aren’t masses of people who think the same way and brave is not the word i think of when i think of dots post) i agree completely and utterly with you

its the same feeling i get when people say that one or two women being raped is collateral damage, if thats the case then you volunteer your daughter or yourself to be raped you chump

I bet the women on here who have daughters currently in prison aren't so unbothered by the men these sorts of women would have their poor daughters share a cell with.

I choose to cling on to the belief that thankfully, in women, Dot is in the very tiny minority. I'm sure way to many men think like Dot though.

No, I don’t think society is comfortable with that. It’s simply, and very sadly, a known side effect of being male, and society really can’t do much about that reality unless they were to keep every man in permanent isolation. In NO WAY does that make exporting the risk to the female estate okay and acceptable (which I know you have said).

I hope that's correct @bignosebignose I saw a fragment on an interview yesterday with a woman who managed a jail (forget the name but she's spoken at SFW rallies). She said he'd have to be released into the general population after 72 hours unless someone signed off on him being kept longer in isolation.

Sorry, should have been clearer - I was posting that as an example of them actually using female pronouns for “Isla.”

IcakethereforeIam · 26/01/2023 11:04

Well, feck! So, if he was sent down yesterday, he could be in the general population tomorrow!

But not without a "risk assessment ". The prison service have equality and diversity champions to make sure his needs are properly protected and no doubt centered. So that's reassuring.

THEDEACON · 26/01/2023 11:45

Yes you are being unreasonable as are all the people using this as an argument against the Gender recognition bill in Scotland To save anyone jumping to conclusions I am a woman by birth who is still a woman and is also a Christian I am a lefty though I will give you that Don't bother responding to me for an argument I have said all I need to say

@THEDEACON Article 25 of The Geneva conventions makes mixed sex dorms in prison camps a war crime. And thats talking about POW's, not putting convicted sex offenders in with women.
Why should we tolerate lower safety standards in peace time?

Fab. We should all feel like we have had our say.

Considering you don't seem to have a coherent argument about how this is not an issue that is going to be made worse by GRR in Scotland, I think that readers will probably consider your post in that light.

Love your credentials though! Brilliant stuff.

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 12:07

Seems a tadge early to be starting on the strong stuff.

But fuck it from the sound of some posters we've got a bit of catching up to do.

Sup up and then I'll get another round in.

Crisps? <crunch>

I think they were going for the speed flounce. I've not been here long enough, but that seemed pretty fast to me. Are they in with a chance?

I'm a Christian and a woman who was born a woman and a bit of a leftie. I think your arrogance is astounding.

bignosebignose · 26/01/2023 12:35

BBC:

A trans woman who raped two women before she changed gender will not serve her sentence in a female jail, Scotland's first minister has said.

TangledWebOfDeception · 26/01/2023 12:41

GOOD.

Now can we STOP going through this ridiculous charade every time!!

NO MALES IN FEMALE PRISONS.

GET THE REST OF THEM OUT!!

Blgh cheese and onion. Got any ready salted?

I've also not been around long enough. Maybe there are speed flounce posts that contain less words?

I hope so. that should be the final nail in the But that never happens coffin of this particular prison charade that happens way to frequently.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/01/2023 12:58

Pickled onion Monster Munch?

In a way I hope he sues the Prison Service. Everytime this ideology is in court it shows how batshit it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Depends on how committed he is, if he gets legal aid and if anyone is conscienceless enough to represent him.

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 13:05

Don't mind if i do. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Whatever he does now doesn't matter. As long as he's not housed with women, he's played his part in the downfall of an ideology.

this is probably the first time in his life when that man had done something that will actually benefit and enhance women's lives.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/01/2023 13:14

Going to be interesting to watch how this plays out. I suspect all those people who've invested so much personal capital in this will, where possible, be 3 wise monkeying otherwise they'll want to move on or dress this failure up as success, 'see, the safeguards are working'. But it's not a bug, it's not even a feature, it's the whole thing, this is it.

Right, I need a Monster Munch!

Hey.......!

Nicola Sturgeon quote from the BBC article:

She said: "There is no automatic right for a trans woman convicted of a crime to serve their sentence in a female prison even if they have a gender recognition certificate”.

So, what is the point of a ‘gender recognition certificate’ if you will not then be ‘recognised as that gender’?!?

Does the certificate come with a list of exemptions?

ie. You can be a woman when it’s not bothering anyone, but you may not be a woman if you commit a crime, go swimming, want to work for Women’s Aid…..etc…

If that’s the case, then we don’t need a certificate for that, do we?!? Stick a frock on in your own house whenever you want 👍🏻

Surely even Nicola has got to realise that she’s not making any sense.

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 13:18

I think Nicola realises she's fucked and her Bill is dead in the water. And people are getting 😠

FourTeaFallOut · 26/01/2023 13:19

So, is Nicola now saying that the rapist IS a woman but this woman will placed in a male prison? Or that the prisoner is fraudulently claiming to be a woman?
