Dressing “sexy” infront of in laws

Obviously not talking lingerie or boobs spilling out but everytime I see my inlaws I wear sensible boring things that I think they’d “approve of” i.e a long sleeve jumper that would show 0 curves or a buttoned up to the neck floral dress.

…I know it’s normal to dress conservative when you first meet partners parents, but is it normal to then dress “sexier” if that is your normal style? For example I would normally wear over knee boots with tight jeans, or a mini skirt with black tights or a tight top (I’m E cup) so would look very “sexy”.

I just want to be myself, and not this polite librarian character ive created or AIBU and should tone it down infront of them?

I think it’s really odd that you dress “sexy” around anyone you have a platonic relationship with. Jeans, boots and a top are worn by elderly farm labourers and small children alike - what about them is particularly “sexy” if you’re not referring to visible lingerie or cleavage (you’ve said you’re not).

I’m seeing my in-laws (they were Conservative but then they were Remainers so I think they’re LibDem now, if that counts) in a couple of days and I’m wearing leather boots, jeans and a fitted top - I don’t think it’s a particularly “sexy” outfit and I’m a 32J.

Stop trying to be “sexy” around family - if you were actually just being yourself then you wouldn’t view it that way. Just dress appropriately for the occasion like everyone else.

I love a bit of cleavage, or a short skirt and sparkly leggings with knee boots, or my fuck the tories vest top, but I manage to find a middle ground when I visit my gran. It's not all or nothing

Some body types look more sexy in clothing that would look smart/casual on others. A friend of mine was tall and slim with big boobs so even a potato sack looked sexy on her. As long as you are not showing excess boob or bum cheeks wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

I tend to wear my glitter bikini when visiting my in-laws, I’m 5’ 4” and a size 24 … so I look sexy AF, surprised my 80 year old FIL can resist
