aibu to dress “sexy” infront of inlaws. Obviously not talking lingerie or boobs spilling out but everytime I see my inlaws I wear sensible boring things that I think they’d “approve of” i.e a long sleeve jumper that would show 0 curves or a buttoned up to the neck floral dress. …I know it’s normal to dress conservative when you first meet partners parents, but is it normal to then dress “sexier” if that is your normal style? For example I would normally wear over knee boots with tight jeans, or a mini skirt with black tights or a tight top (I’m E cup) so would look very “sexy”. I just want to be myself, and not this polite librarian character ive created or AIBU and should tone it down infront of them?

I know a woman who wears thigh high boots over skinny jeans. It doesn’t look sexy at all. That’s the point of the look isn’t - to find an appropriate way to wear something that otherwise might end up relegated to just nights out.

I wear tight jeans with over the knee boots all of the time!
I didn’t realise it was sexy!

I also have large boobs with a ridiculously small waist which makes them look much bigger and even in a baggy t-shirt they look big and people stare.
For that reason I do not wear tight tops, especially wearing them with mini shorts else I’d look like a complete tart.

I find it odd that you want to look sexy/tarty.

Surely you’d want to look nice but not sexy?

I find it strange if people have always seen me dressed a certain way to suddenly turn up somewhere much more dressed up so I get what you mean if you’ve always dressed ‘appropriately’ and want to start being yourself. I would feel weird in something like over the knee boots in front of the in-laws, other people wouldn’t bat an eye. Also, as you are an E cup I can see how you wouldn’t want to wear a tight top. It is a different look to someone with a smaller chest.

I just stick to trying to look as if I am still alive, nowadays, my inlaws and ex inlaws died years ago, so I don't have to worry what they think. I always think trying to 'look sexy' has the opposite effect, and looks desperate for a shag, giving people weird vibes, especially if they are your inlaws🙄

I’m sorry, but anyone that has a big chest knows that wearing a tight top is not the same as if someone with small boobs wore it. Just like small boobed people can go braless but if a big chested person went braless it would look far too in your face.

I think people are taking the mick because the question is so funny. Wearing over the knee boots with jeans (in the style of your pic) really isn't anything to worry about. Her in-laws obviously aren't going to be horrified by OP turning up dressed as in the picture you posted, which isn't "dressing sexy" unless you're a 93yo nun. It's just normal clothes.

I'm an E cup and tend to wear tight-ish tops as baggy ones make me look like a marquee. No one's died of shock yet 😂
