I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Tripp trapp high chair
Ugg slippers

I recently bought some Dr Martens too and I did wince slightly at the price but they are lovely and will get years of wear. I spent £250 on a very warm, waterproof winter coat. I don't often spend much on clothes so it felt like a lot. I'm always so grateful for it at football practice on a Saturday morning.

Jewellery as I get so much pleasure from it!
top quality knives and scissors plus sharpening tool - I’m still using knives now that DM bought over 40 years ago when she worked in catering

I second ugg slippers and add heated seats in my car.

Knitwear made from natural fabrics. I see so many jumpers and cardis in the supermarket etc that I love the look of but know they ain't going to do shit to keep me warm.

My friend says a cleaner. I am debating getting her details, just to do bathrooms and kitchens so they’re sparkling every other week. Can afford it but not sure whether it’s wrong to considering we have a small home

Joseph Joseph totem style kitchen bin. I paid over £100 for it about 8 years ago. Its saved me money as the cheaper bins would regularly break and need to be replaced while this is still going strong.

A Canada goose coat - appallingly expensive but in freezing weather the best thing ever for staying warm. And it will last for ever.

Miele washing machine - mine has just died after 20 years faithful service. I feel like I’ve lost a friend.

Lonelycrab · 17/12/2022 20:10

Meile hoover

Apple products in general as they’ve lasted for me.

oversized · 17/12/2022 20:11

going to a salon to get a basic colour to cover greys - home dyes never cover well enough

thick cotton duvet covers and pillow cases - no static polycotton, no horrible synthetic fibres

I hate my totem bin. It’s rubbish quality and I’ve had to replace most of it. Worse purchase ever!!!

Heinz beans.

Not expensive in the grand scheme of things, but are compared to own brands. Worth every penny.

viques · 17/12/2022 20:13

Floris bath essence. Actually, although the initial outlay is eeek, it works out very economical because you only need such a tiny amount to scent the whole bathroom ( and landing)
