I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

We got a souped up sound system in our (ancient) convertible Mini after COVID hit. It was sooooo expensive but honestly, being able to go around with the top down blasting music on random drives kept us both (relatively) sane in the context of being unable to go to our usual gigs and festivals etc. And yes I know that was technically against the rules (I think?) but we weren't getting out or coming into contact with anyone so meh.

Also an Oodie. I had a couple of fakes which I loved but the real thing is next level. I wfh and it's genuinely changed my life.

Carolservicedeprived · 17/12/2022 20:58

Laser eye surgery more than 20 years ago, still don't need glasses.

Good quality leather suite lasted us 20 years and we sold it for £100. Hoping our new one lasts as long.

Sweaty Betty leggings (power or super soft - not zero gravity!). Resisted for ages but finally caved and bought a pair in the sale and they still look brand new two years later. The only leggings I’ve tried that actually stay up!

Waterproof UGG boots with vibram soles. So cosy. Live in them through the winter.

MintyGreenDreams · 17/12/2022 21:11

Botox.
Niche perfume rather than designer.

BoardingSchoolMater · 17/12/2022 21:12

I'm going to add 'a good mattress'. Mine was stupidly expensive (made to my requirements), but it is the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I bought it 10 years ago so it has paid for itself many times over.

DaftWeeBun · 17/12/2022 21:14

Morrocanoil. Turns my horses tail into something resembling human hair.

NewToWoo · 17/12/2022 21:14

Cashmere sweaters. Cost £100-200 each about 8 years ago. Still good as new and so warm that I don't need to turn the heating up.

RoyFuckingKent · 17/12/2022 21:15

Joseph Joseph replaced my entire totem bin when the catch broke as it was an old model, despite the fact it was 3 years old. Brand new version arrived 2 days later. Can't fault that service!

My Nan always said buy the best bed and the best shoes because if you're not in one you're in the other, so a decent mattress, high thread count bedding and good shoes.

5moments · 17/12/2022 21:15

Kerastase hair products. My hair is so transformed I no longer straighten it.

Stunningscreamer · 17/12/2022 21:15

LimeTwists · 17/12/2022 20:24

My Quooker tap.

I was going to say that. I love it so much.

Also my Brabantia bin and my Corian work surfaces. They all look good, are extremely practical and have lasted years. Can't bear short term things, so wasteful.

Calphurnia88 · 17/12/2022 21:15

Does laser eye surgery count?

I always says it's the best money I've ever spent.
