I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Silk pillowcases

Mattress
Down duvets and pillows
jumpers
winter coats
winter boots
tinted moisturiser

I don’t think you have to spend mega bucks, but buy cheap buy twice is broadly true, which is yet another thing that makes life very unfair.

Heater seats in car (it added a lot to the price for a comfort pack but it's amazing when it's cold)
A solid, waterproof warm coat. Priceless.

Decent mattress.
Knives and kitchenware.
Duvets and pillows.
Towels.
Decent winter footwear.

Cups of tea in a cafe. £2.25 a pop but worth every penny. I live alone and sitting in a cafe with my book watching the world go by is uplifting.

Memory foam mattresses.
Fancy coffee machines - I did a lot of heart-searching over buying my first bean-to-cup but I use it ALL the time.
A 'good' winter coat, 100% wool.
Trainers that support your feet.

Cleaner. She makes my life 1000x easier, she goes above and beyond (this week she took it upon herself to wash all my make up brushes!!) she has been with us for years and I love her. Multiple dogs (I need my cleaner because of them but they are the BEST thing in my life). Fisher Paykell dishwasher drawer. Boiling/chilled/sparking water tap. Horribly expensive to buy but I use it 20 times a day.

IheartBTS · 17/12/2022 20:18

I invested in a North Face jacket 20yrs ago, and it was excellent at keeping me warm for many winters. I eventually had to sell it on, as it no longer fitted 😔(I grew, the coat didn’t shrink!)

I do love Dr Marten boots and used to have several pairs in the 90,s when they were about £50-70 ,they were still expensive at the time but so worth it lasted for years ,sadly they are out of my price range now and can't justify the cost just for me but still love them.

I’ll second divorce, but also bins. I spent over £100 in 2008 on a brabantia and I fear it’s finally ready to be replaced.

It's amazing! You can get cookbooks from amazon with loads of recipes. It's cooks food in half the time it would in an oven. Roast potatoes take 30 mins and you don't need to boil them first! Enjoy!

PointeShoesandTutus · 17/12/2022 20:33

i agree with the Joseph Joseph totem bin. So good and has been in the house for 3 or 4 years now and looks new. So good we bought the Joseph Joseph laundry basket, also great!

I’d also add our bean to cup coffee machine. We rarely buy coffee out and when we do, it’s not as good as we can make at home!
