To think the anyone but England mentality is cringe?

I’m Scottish, I was brought up to be anti English, SNP mad household, despite having English grandparents. I’ve always thought it made no sense, England is part of the UK like we are. I now have an English dp who is step- parent to my child, I support England in football as does my dc, every match my social media is filled with support for any country playing against England, I don’t get it! Can someone explain the logic to me, I can’t be the only one surely!

I think sometimes it's the behaviour of the fans and supporters who don't do England any favours. I'm Welsh and would normally support England but then I heard about the sun advertising in support of the England team on buses in France and I just don't want to be associated with it! It made me want France to win to piss people like that off

Presumably you live in the UK so what would you expect?

I’ve always cheered for Scotland/Ireland/Wales (when not playing England obviously) I just don’t get why you wouldn’t.

I'm Scottish. I think with previous teams, your Beckhams, Rooney etc and the way they acted. The cheating, the overt designer bling and wealth, their WAG's never out the headlines, they were unlikeable. The fans were yobs.

This squad however appear to be inoffensive young family men. I (and many other Scottish people I know) like them. However it's the bloody media ramming it down our throats every 2 seconds and 'it's coming home'. It was, and would be relentless.

Do feel sorry for them tonight.

Who's ramming it down your throat? The coverage I've seen has been very balanced across all remaining teams.

I can't see England supporting Wales if Wales had got further in the world Cup do you? (Note, I'm not a football fan at all) but it works both ways.

You say that, but "ABE" is still a thing among some rugby fans and there's generally much better conduct from the players.

I have and then the commentators during half time and full time talk about England. Last world cup during the very first match (England weren’t playing), it got to half time and the commentary was ‘Let’s go over to Gabby in the England camp!’ Why? Then they talked about Gareth Southgate at full time, again why, they hadn’t even played a game yet?

I'm not English, but I do live in England. Although I would never do that whole "I support whoever is playing against England" crap, I would not cheer on England in any sport really, as I'm not English. I would cheer on my own country whoever they are playing and that's it. Keep it simple!

I don't know any English people who actually would actively cheer for Wales / Scotland / Ireland unless they have a connection to one of those countries, but I'm sure some of them do
