What do you all think of it?

Tried it for the first time today and it tastes of nothing. You can taste the filling (we had a pretzel flavour) but couldn’t taste the chocolate at all. And why is it no in squares?! It’s so difficult to break apart and eat!

aibu? This is chocolate is weird!!

I love the dark one with almonds and sea salt. It tastes like a real treat despite the fact it is dark chocolate. Actually, I've noticed it is about the only dark chocolate you can buy where cocoa mass is still listed before sugar in the ingredients. Most other chocolate tastes horribly sweet to me now. It is 'expensive' compared to other chocolate but I guess that's the true price of producing chocolate with a fair supply chain.

That's the one I tried and it tasted of nothing. I was really disappointed.

OTOH, I bought Aldi's milk chocolate truffle bar and it was amazing. 4 individually wrapped bars too so slightly easier to resist eating the entire bar at once!

Tony Cutis is dead. It's pretty unseemly now, in my opinion, to start bandying his name about on a bar of chocolate, especially when you consider how he died in that dreadful event at the confectionary factory.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 27/11/2022 17:01

I love it, chocolate without the crappy palm oil, tastes like chocolate used to

LemonTT · 27/11/2022 17:01

The ice cream is quite delicious imho.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 27/11/2022 17:02

Bit sickly . Not at all like chocolate should be.

Also explained on their website, and refers to the fact that no other chocolate companies seem concerned by slavery in the chocolate industry.

Tony's is apparently slavery free. Other brands, not so much.

Might be Slavery free but not child labour free. Works with one of the worst in the industry for this, and investigations show over 1700 child workers picking chocolate that Tony’s buy

Duckskitbank · 27/11/2022 17:06

Far too preachy and the chocolate isn’t even nice.

Jaybird43 · 27/11/2022 17:09

DH bought some the other day from M&S as a random purchase - to me, it tasted like the chocolate you get in a cheap non-brand advent calendar. It’s also not gluten free so my DC, who are coeliac, couldn’t eat it. I wouldn’t buy it again.

DoraDee · 27/11/2022 17:12

Love the hazelnut one, much better than whole nut Cadbury’s

CourtneeLuv · 27/11/2022 17:13

It tastes like cheap shit chocolate.

Milka is where it's at.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 27/11/2022 17:19

Aldi chocolate is beautiful.

Unwellchild325 · 27/11/2022 17:21

I got bought a bar and thought it tasted like the grotty cheap advent calendar chocolates from my childhood.

JustDanceAddict · 27/11/2022 17:21

Dark is much nicer than milk!

PyjamaFan · 27/11/2022 17:29

I think it's vile.

I bought a couple of bars at vast expense as I thought it would be worth it.

It's not.

TellySavalashairbrush · 27/11/2022 17:32

The bulkiness and packaging puts me off, makes me think of American chocolate 😪

EasterIssland · 27/11/2022 17:32

I used to like it because of their slavery free until I came to know about their weight benefit for those working for the company and that they really weren’t slavery free so I stopped buying them

Picklewicklepickle · 27/11/2022 17:33

I like it but I love chocolate that’s really chunky.

Cadburys and Galaxy taste like wax now as does Lindt increasingly. Also RIP Chocolate Oranges.

Hershey’s actually tastes like vomit.

Love Aldi chocolate and Ritter Sport, discovered the dark orange cream one the other day and it was to die for but now it’s gone again from Sainsburys 😭

Runnerduck34 · 27/11/2022 17:38

After reading in here it takes like caburys used to I tried it for the first time last week.
It does not taste like cadburys! It tastes like cheap supermarket chocolate imo. But it bar was satisfyingly chunky like cadburys used to be but taste not worth the calories imo.

One chocolate I love as it is as ethical as Toneys but nicer, thought unfortunately it MUCH harder to get hold of, is Femmes de Virunga. It supports women chocolate growers in the Congo.

I love this too. There’s no comparison with Tony’s. Far too easy to eat, though, and definitely a step up price-wise from supermarket chocolate so not a habit I can indulge as often as I’d like.

I love bean to bar chocolate and raw chocolate and yes they are expensive, but I just eat less of it. My desire for a sweet treat is not worth perpetuating misery on others 🙄
The one I REALLY love is Papua New Guinea chocolate but you're looking at about £8 a bar for it so I've only had it a few times.

MichaelFabricantWig · 27/11/2022 17:39

Oh I had forgotten about Ritter sport I love the peppermint one

Swissnotswiss · 27/11/2022 17:40

We bought some in Holland this summer and no-one like it. Eventually threw the pink bar out as that one was really bad!

BrandNewBicep · 27/11/2022 17:42

Revolting. I tried it after a thread on here raving about it. Reminds of cake covering.

cezannesapple · 27/11/2022 17:47

I find it very sickly and hate that it is so difficult to break up.

stuntbubbles · 27/11/2022 17:58

It’s only difficult to break up if you want small pieces…
