Tony’s chocolate

What do you all think of it?

Tried it for the first time today and it tastes of nothing. You can taste the filling (we had a pretzel flavour) but couldn’t taste the chocolate at all. And why is it no in squares?! It’s so difficult to break apart and eat!

aibu? This is chocolate is weird!!

Ethics, thumbs up.
Taste, thumbs down.

Cleopatra67 · 27/11/2022 14:26

It’s chocolonely not loney!

BellePeppa · 27/11/2022 14:27

Is that the chunky, massively expensive one? I’ve seen it but not well off enough to spend so much on a bar of chocolate.

EggsHamChips · 27/11/2022 14:29

I really like it. The plain milk chocolate one.

MichaelFabricantWig · 27/11/2022 14:30

The shape of the bar is really annoying and it’s too expensive as well as being not very good

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 27/11/2022 14:33

I'm not buying it, because of stupid name alone.

CuteAsDuck · 27/11/2022 14:33

I like it!

And the ethos behind the brand too.

Although admittedly haven't tried the pretzel one.

Heavyraindropsarefallingonmyhead · 27/11/2022 14:35

I like it, it tastes better than Cadbury at least

I think the people complaining it's expensive are missing the point about the slave trade in the chocolate industry...

Beees · 27/11/2022 14:35

The ethical stance is all well and good but their company's job is to make chocolate and the actual product is shit.

I've been brought it a few times as a gift now and every single bar has been tasteless.

Im sure its possible to make ethically conscious chocolate that actually tastes of chocolate. I suspect if it wasn't for theor ethics no one would rate it at all.

Rowthe · 27/11/2022 14:36

I just find it gimmicky

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 27/11/2022 14:39

I had some of this on a freebie to try from my online supermarket and then someone bought some other flavours in a gift pack for me later on.

I do not like it one bit. My partner ate them up but isn't hankering after us buying them again.

stuntbubbles · 27/11/2022 14:40

I LOVE the milk chocolate sea salt bar but it is a very hard chocolate, I cut my gum on it the other day. Shoving a giant strangely shaped wodge in my gob. Nicer than Dairy Milk is these days. And nothing like Hersheys! Doesn’t have that distinctive Hersheys old vomit taste and grittiness.

ChocolateCakeYum · 27/11/2022 14:42

Horrible and tasteless.

Felt like I was trying to bite into a brick as it’s so hard to break apart. Yeah also so expensive.

ErinAndTonic · 27/11/2022 14:42

The orange one is amazing.

The others are just average.

It should at least taste decent if it’s going to be expensive, IMO it doesn’t

Boooooot · 27/11/2022 14:44

Out of interest what chocolate do people recommend? I’ve gotten bored of galaxy. Sainsburys do a Lindt pic n mix but at £10 a pop it’s quite a pricey treat!

cookiecreammmpie · 27/11/2022 14:44

Tasteless and overpriced. I was expecting it to be amazing the way people have raved on about it on MN.

RambamThankyouMam · 27/11/2022 14:01

I can't deal with the fact that it's Tony's ChocoLONELY and not ChocoLONEY.

Why lonely? It annoys me so much I can't bring myself to buy it.

Well I've learned something today, but I would have sworn it was Chocoloney!

DeliberatelyObtuse · 27/11/2022 14:44

Expensive, tasteless and greasy

No thanks

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/11/2022 14:44

The dark chocolate with candy cane in is food of the gods.

ThatshallotBaby · 27/11/2022 14:45

I really like it. I think Hotel Chocolate is pretty ethical.

I like Aldi chocolate. The big bars of milk and white, fruit and nut, pretzel, almond are all good and about half the price of Tony’s

Oh now, I do fancy this

dudsville · 27/11/2022 14:46

I've never had it, but while we're all here, can someone tell me how "Chocoloney" is pronounced? Choco-loney? Cho-coloney?

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2022 14:47

I love it. They have it in the vending machine at work. Which is great and not great in equal measures. 😂
