To shower every day or not?

Do you shower every day or not?

I am not showering every day and I come from a country that very few people shower every day!

I dislike being wet and as a kid I didn’t shower everyday too. Maybe I don’t do it because I was not taught to do it as kid.

Those who shower every day do you also shower your kids everyday?

And those you shower every day do you get your hair wet or shampoo them everyday?

I wouldn’t be able to do this everyday!!!! Many British people I know shower every day (either morning or night) and I find it so hard mentally and physically to invest time on that on a daily basis given everything is in such a fast pace.

I would never sacrifice time from my sleep to shower in the morning!

No wonder we have pandemics.

Don't be ridiculous, daily showers don't prevent pandemics...

feetfeet · 14/11/2022 22:18

All 4 of us shower without fail every single evening.
Hair is washed twice a week for the girls. The state of the infant school toilets is horrendous, I couldn't cope with wondering what my son had been touching!

BlackcurrantSorbet · 14/11/2022 22:18

I find this very odd. A shower or bath once per day is the minimum with everybody in my family, yes including children. In summer, usually twice. And then additional showers after sports etc. It's nice to be clean and fresh when you get up in the morning, and also when you go to bed. It takes a couple of minutes, I can't understand why you wouldn't do that at least once per day?

Pandemics are caused by viral mutations which commonly occur when humans and animals are in close proximity and a pathogen jumps the species barrier.

It is not related to how often one showers.

Well yes, and poor hygiene facilitates transmission.

Eh? It’s a shower. Not a cryptic crossword or a 30 minute daily HIIT session.

Snugglemonkey · 14/11/2022 22:19

I shower most days. I like baths too though, so also have baths. If in a big rush, I occasionally just wash, but really I don't save very much time doing that, so might as well have a shower.

My dc has a bath pretty much every day, but the occasional day he has a shower instead.

Well yes, and poor hygiene facilitates transmission.

But still not because of someone not showering every day...

Ikr.

It takes a few minutes to shower. Especially if not washing long hair.

OnTheUpAtLast · 14/11/2022 22:20

I have to psych myself up to get in the shower, but afterwards I'm always pleased i did.
The day I don't shower I feel groggy, greasy and grim and regret not taking that bit of time to allow me to feel fresh.

You do you, I'll do me. As long as we're both happy, no harm done.

Greenballoons · 14/11/2022 22:21

I shower every 3 days as a minimum and on a weekly basis as a maximum .

My hair is really dry, never oily and very curly as well. Washing them takes about 30min.

Then when I shower I shave legs etc., body scrub, heels rub and the body part takes another 15min.

Put another 15min to dress, put cream on, clean the bathroom from fallen hair etc.

In total body and hair takes me an hour!

I am very surprised when people say it takes 3mins! And in this cold and dark in the mornings is the very last thing I want to do… brrrr!

Unless the op is neuro divergent. They've said they dislike being wet and find the task of showering overwhelming, both of which sound like neurodivergent traits to me.

There's more than one way to keep clean.

Well, if you're spending 15min 3 times a week, your spending 45m washing.

I can spend 6mins every morning, and spend less time than you in the shower....

Let's say 5 minutes on no hair day, so 4 days. and 8 on hair day 3 times a week. That's about the same amount of time.

You could just have quicker showers more often

Yes.

But they're not ND.

They just take 15+ minutes to shower each time. And it doesn't take THAT long if you just hop in, wash and get out.

Greenballoons · 14/11/2022 22:25

No I am not neuro divergent! I just wasn’t raised up with this habit. I don’t have an oily scalp and I am never sweaty

Yes, I shower every morning (and wash hair). It wakes me up but also I'd feel scruffy and yucky if I went out to work with an unshowered body in smart work clothes.

You don’t sweat? Same as Andrew

chickeningonup · 14/11/2022 22:27

I shower every day, including hair washing - I have a physical job though and pretty much have to.

DS age 8 showers every other day.

DD age 1 has two baths per week.

Greenballoons · 14/11/2022 22:27

Yes but if in this cold if you get out with wet hair you may catch a cold, no?

I mean I don't do a full head to toe scrub and preen like you OP but I certainly give my bumhole and bits a daily wash.

I didnt mean any offence...

Lots of posters are quick to judge on these threads without considering how things that are simple for them aren't for others and a full shower twice a day isn't actually always necessary to keep a person clean.

This can't be for real.

Have you heard of a hair dryer?
