To shower every day or not?

Do you shower every day or not?

I am not showering every day and I come from a country that very few people shower every day!

I dislike being wet and as a kid I didn’t shower everyday too. Maybe I don’t do it because I was not taught to do it as kid.

Those who shower every day do you also shower your kids everyday?

And those you shower every day do you get your hair wet or shampoo them everyday?

I wouldn’t be able to do this everyday!!!! Many British people I know shower every day (either morning or night) and I find it so hard mentally and physically to invest time on that on a daily basis given everything is in such a fast pace.

I would never sacrifice time from my sleep to shower in the morning!

Shower every day and after exercise. And children too.

Twice a week here. I don’t smell.

Post by me at 13:24, posted on wring thread in error. I have reported myself to MN. Please ignore here.

Do you use the free sky water to shower in though? Unprocessed, unfiltered and pollution. That's quite different to water that's been through a water treatment plant and doesn't cost anything either!

Tbh I really don't care. I'm not in there for ages but I'm not going to walk around grubbier than I'd like worrying about how much I'm costing the local council who already have vast amounts off me on a monthly basis for very little in return that I can see.

Aquarius1234 · 17/11/2022 16:39

I admit I do not shower every day, but most days.
I have been lazy at washing my hair the last two years, I have gone over 2 weeks a few times.
A good thing is using less hot water/ electricity, as my showers tend to last 25 mins when washing hair.

Whatsshecalled · 17/11/2022 17:10

Don't know if this had been mentioned but if you live in England in any area outside Cumbria then you're currently in a drought. In Cornwall for example the situation is getting really, really serious (despite it having rained absolutely loads lately) so no one should be encouraging anyone to shower any more than they already do. Leave the people who shower less to it, they're not hurting anyone, stop calling them 'grim' they should be applauded.

StarlightLady · 17/11/2022 17:33

@Whatsshecalled - We may be in an alleged drought technically, but a lot of this is due to privately owned water companies having mothballed huge reservoirs (often paid for by the tax payer) in order to save them money. Meanwhile raw sewage is dumped in rivers and seas.

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 17/11/2022 17:50

@Whatsshecalled

People can have a daily "navy shower" if they're concerned about water usage. I had one this morning.

PupInAPram · 18/11/2022 15:55

Nothing to do with the thread, but how misused is the word 'grim' on mumsnet!

StarlightLady · 18/11/2022 16:08

@PupInAPram - Exactly! I shower at least once a day but I am still officially "MN grim" because I don't wear knickers with gym leggings.

dementedpixie · 18/11/2022 16:11

I couldn't wear leggings without my huge hold-your-belly-in pants up to my chin. I need the support

zingally · 18/11/2022 16:53

I don't! I shower about every 3 days and don't mind saying it! I teach primary school kids, and believe me, if I stank, they'd tell me about it!

Greenballoons · 18/11/2022 19:56

What? So bizarre! Why are you not wearing pants when you wear gym leggings? Never heard of that in the past! What if you get a bit wetter than normally and then you look like you peed yourself?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 18/11/2022 20:46

I sometimes look like I've peed myself even wearing pants and a panty liner! Depends on the class and whether I've done 2 back to back

VoiceOfCommonSense · 19/11/2022 16:05

No just a bath on a Sunday night and a stand up wash with a flannel every morning 😂

StarlightLady · 19/11/2022 18:56

@Greenballoons - Not wishing to derail thread but proper gym leggings, as opposed to leggings for day to day wear, are designed to be worn without underwear and usually have a double gusset for that reason.

After a gym session you do need a shower and your kit needs to go in the wash.

MysteryBelle · 19/11/2022 21:12

Somebody just said they only shower every 3 days. I could not put on clean clothes on top of not having showered first. And do it 3 days before showering or bathing again. I’m sorry, no one is fresh smelling or fresh feeling after a day and night has gone by. I guess I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want to bathe regularly. We all miss days here and there, I’m talking about all the time going 3 days or a week without bathing or a shower. It’s just ick.
